You only need to take a look at how WnW branched out when it installed the tornado etc... they will find a way to integrate it. Besides - as technology progresses, they'll find ways to remove some of the older, simpler rides and install new ones... We've all seen a carpark coaster - what about a carpark waterslide? (wait - isn't the WnW Mammoth technically one of those?)

Luna Park Sydney - the future with Wet'n'Wild
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to JulieLovis's topic in Theme Park Discussion
You have got to be joking... what on earth does adventure park in melbourne have to do with the price of fish in thailand? I was talking about WnWS, and it's impacts to the parks around it. Please don't tell me you think WnWS will have an impact on Adventure park... -
Yep - season pass just lets you enter on every night. for those interested in going multiple nights doing it again and again - the price is extremely good value... I usually end up walking out halfway through the night, so once is enough for me - i only go for the mazes big shows. street dance performances and rides aren't really an appeal to me during those events.

Luna Park Sydney - the future with Wet'n'Wild

I'm sure they'll both survive just fine - the majority of western sydney visitors wouldn't usually trek in for a day at luna park as often. I'm pretty sure the youth of western sydney is their target 'anchor' market. The only impact I see WnWS having is a reduction in Sydney-based visitors to Jamberoo. It's them i'd be watching closely for a response, not LPS. -

Really? You thought that's what he was doing? Then why did you try to pass it off as a codename? And the name OBVIOUSLY comes from the haunted town in the USA? How do you come to that conclusion being SO obvious? Perhaps it is 'highly likely' or 'possible' that's where the name comes from, but unless sudden impact comes on and confirms it, we'll just have to speculate, won't we? -

Just because it's heritage listed, and owned by the same person, it doesn't mean diddly. LPS had heritage listed buildings - didn't stop it from closing down repeatedly -
Looks like the PR & Marketing guys are plugging it well - I'm pretty confident that is a legitimate MW fright night twitter account.

Tips for visiting Anaheim?
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to Alex Berriman's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Can't say - it's not like I visit on a regular basis. There was a bag check before getting near the ticket booths, and then metal detectors between the booths and the turnstiles. Didn't look permanent like SFMM though so perhaps was only a trial test precaution for short time? Anyhow - onward and upward - Disneyland Park So you've already done a day at DCA, and pretty much covered it all. For Disneyland, you're going to want to pick two long-trading days to visit, preferably both with Fantasmic and Fireworks (usually Thu-Mon). Where you can, try and see both on the same night (where Fantasmic runs two shows, get a good spot for the fireworks first, and then dash for fantasmic. The second show is usually quieter, and you have a better chance of getting a good spot. Again the same advice applies - make sure you review the park map online before hand, and know where all the attractions are. Get Matterhorn done early. No matter what - if it's open, it's busy. Most other attractions will generally be an ok waiting time, but Matterhorn will always have the long lines. Just like DCA - use the fastpass system to your advantage, and make your way around the hub moving through the different lands. It pays to work smarter in Disneyland as you can almost do every attraction without doubling back on yourself at all (except Critter Country and New Orleans Square). When you get to the end of main street, either turn left and head through frontierland adventureland first, or turn right and go through tomorrow land. They're pretty efficient in Disneyland and most attractions are continuous cycle so the line will constantly move. Hit each land in turn, going from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland and so on (or adventureland frontierland). To make sure you don't miss out on certain things, keep an eye out for signage at the entrance to fantasyland which will announce when it will close (fantasyland frequently closes early for either the fireworks or private events). If you want to visit Tom Sawyer Island, also pay attention to signage at the log rafts as Fantasmic will close the island early too. On Fantasmic - both Columbia and the Mark Twain are utilised in Fantasmic, so they will also close early. I don't imagine your family is going to want to catch the parade - so it is a good time to ride some of the more popular attractions - but beware - take note of the parade route! Once the parade has started, whatever side of it you're on is where you're likely to stay until it's finished... I don't really have much else to share on the Disney parks - hope it helps! -

Theres a reason SFMM has it's own police station - it's also the reason it's one of the few parks that have been suggested that will submit you to a metal detector on entry (USH is the other). Having just returned from a trip to SFMM I have to agree with Rappa. If you want coasters - it's the record holder (Tatsu was definitely worth the trip) but I found park operations to be slow, disinterested and lazy. I paid a premium for the platinum flash pass to ensure I got through everything I wanted to do - I even paid the upgrade for the two 'premium' flash rides (and didn't get to ride one of them anyway). The park has cemented it's place as the king of coasters, but that doesn't make them a nice park in any other way shape or form. I wouldn't say the park was spotless, but it wasn't filthy either. Despite the fact that we paid such a premium price, queue jumping was rife, and you don't have much interaction with staff, so trying to communicate this to the staff was difficult if not impossible. Having said that - the one thing SFMM staff did well was communicate the 'queue once, ride twice' system for the platinum pass - there were never any arguments from the other guests waiting to ride who were displaced by our re-ride. As to Alex's initial question, now that we have a few more details... We spent half our time in LA at the Knotts berry farm hotel - it was close enough to disney property (and connected with the ART bus), but it was further north and therefore closer to USH and SFMM. KBFH was quite reasonably priced, onsite restaurant was good value, and most local facilities nearby. Disney As far as attending Disney - I recommend at least a 3 day pass between the two parks - one day in each, and a third day park hopping depending on what you want to see. Be sure you check the showtime dates on the disneyland park site a week or so out to work out when fantasmic, and fireworks are on. World of Colour is on most nights, but the park's hours vary (early entry days alternate, as does the 'late closure' with one park staying open later than the other. Make sure you make the most of these variable hours by picking the longer hour days to visit each park. Fastpass system Something that many people seem to know, but many others don't, is that you don't have to USE your fastpass before claiming another one. Say you get a fastpass for Space Mountain. If your fastpass says to return between 11:00 and 11:30, do other things until 11am - then proceed to the NEXT ride (say Indiana Jones) you want to ride, and get another fastpass. Once issued, go and use your original Space Mountain fastpass, which will help take up the time until Indiana Jones is ready. (Note that you'd generally want to pick your fastpasses in a sequence moving around the park so you're not constantly doubling back on things) Although the fastpass system does state a window (11-11:30) in most cases Cast Members will permit you to enter after that time, although there are a few exceptions. California Adventure You can do your 'whole day' at DCA on a mid-week shorter day as the park isn't as immersive and involving, and get it all done pretty quickly. Use your early entry for DCA and get a fast pass for Radiator Springs (or just queue for it first). After you've gotten your fastpass there, get a World of Colour fastpass from near the rapids (you can hold that as well as your ordinary fastpasses throughout the day), which will get you a good spot to see world of colour. Check out the park maps online ahead of time, and make use of the 'filter' feature to show only specific things (like rides and attractions) it can be easy to miss something good because it isn't lit in neon lights (like the Monsters Inc attraction). If Parades aren't your thing, then use that time to either eat (the outlets are quieter) or to take a ride or two on something well away from the parade route. If your folks are looking to take a load off, I highly recommend the Aladdin stage performance - extremely well done, and it soaks up a good 45 minutes to an hour, whilst in air conditioning and comfortable seating. Lastly, in a lot of cases you can make it through Soarin several times by alternating 'regular queuing' and fastpasses. Because Soarin is quite separate to a lot of other sections of the park, you're best bet is to obtain a fastpass, and then use the general Soarin queue to ride once, before re-entering with your fast pass to do it a second time. It is highly rerideable despite being the same film as different seats give different perspectives. Get Soarin done quickly (it's in between radiator springs and grizzly river run (rapids - world of colour fast pass), and you won't then have to visit that park of the park again. I'll post some more tips for Disneyland in another post. -
Tips for visiting Anaheim?

I'm sure many of us will have a wealth of information to share with you (i've just recently returned from a trip there in AprilMay this year), but theres a few things that would be good to know first: [*]Are you only visiting Disneyland and Knotts? Or are you open to see others as well? [*]Are you hiring a car? [*]have you already booked your accommodation - and where is it? [*]What else do you plan on would like to do whilst you're there? [*]How many of you are there - and what age-group (eg: is it a mix of parents with teens or a bunch of early-20-year-olds etc... it makes a difference) [*]Is everyone in your group over the age of 21? [*]How long do you have in Anaheim, and will you go to any other parts of the USA or Canada while you over there? [*]What sort of budget are you working with - are you looking to do things as cheap as possible or are you flexible to do certain things that are worth the extra money? Thats all i've got for now. Depending on what your answers are, will depend on what kind of info tips will be useful to you... Also bear in mind JanFeb is winter, and this may impact on some things you may wish to do while you're there. -
Most of the 'tricks' the dolphins do at our Sea World are based on natural behaviours. It may not be 'a ball' that they knock around in the wild, but the behaviour is the same - its just that they do it with other objects. Wild dolphins have also been known to 'take people for rides' etc in some situations. The trainers at our Sea World only ask the dolphins to do something that is, to a degree - natural. They can't make the dolphins do it, but they reward them when they do. believe me - amongst the dolphins in our park are some absolute bitches (not my words), that simply refuse to do what they are asked. There is some frustration amongst some of the trainers towards these pig-headed animals - but they aren't punished for not 'performing', they're still fed adequately. Sure they don't receive what the trainers carry in their pouch but they are well fed. Having said that - most of the dolphins used for 'imagine' want to do what they are asked to do - they can't wait to go 'on stage' so to speak - it is apparent by their behaviours towards the trainers before the show.

I've seen several release dates touted for 'Resident Evil 6' but nothing i've seen so far gives 'evolution' as the rest of the film title. Further more - if this attraction was intended to tie in with the release of the sequel, it wouldn't be opening around the same time as filming commences (filming to commence in the 'fall' of 2013 - being Sept-Nov). Lastly, IMDB lists the location of filming for this episode as the WBMW studios on the gold coast. I'd be inclined to see it appear at MW, not DW. It is possible that the franchise is being used in the attraction, but I doubt that it is specifically going to tie in with any sort of 'evilution' tag line. if that were the case - the intentional mis-spelling would be used on the tagline of the movie also. -
For those of us unable to (or too lazy to), would you care to give us the two sentence version on what the problem is?

Sea World Storm Coaster construction 2013

Sorry I don't call that 'testing has begun'... The gondola boat is still on its shipping blocks, and wrapped in plastic. The fact that there is a mannequin in one of the seats means nothing. If they're implying this is a simulaid - such as a water dummy - then they would need more than one dummy... more like 4 or 6.... -
Well apart from their anticipated relationship with SLSA who I believe were originally planning to provide the lifeguards for the park, the only major 'red and yellow' I see here is on the constrictor - and aren't all the constrictors red and yellow?

looking at the artwork - the 'inner' lagoon is protected from flooding, and the outer ring looks like it has a tidal wall surrounding it. If it flooded regularly, they'd work out to get their customers across the waters by boat or helicopter... or even a chairlift style... As for the waterpark - I think it needs to be either closer.. or they'll need a good transport system nearby. -

It's dreamworld. I'd love for it to be a first class attraction but unfortunately they've shown us they aren't interested in bringing in world class attractions anymore - all they want is the minimum expenditure to be able to trumpet a 'new' attraction each year. This is like repainting Cyclone bright orange and changing the trains.... Different look, mostly the same ride. Like Sea Viper - it is remarkably the same, with a different look... however - when Sea World rebranded Corkscrew - it wasn't their only attraction for the year. -
on the note that we'd see paid parking at the GC parks... I think it'd be kinda hard to introduce it now... but if they're going to do it anywhere - it needs to be WnW.

I presume that your 'meaning' of 'breakdown' is that it closes early to permit tech crew time to get the maze in the scooby queue up and running... Is there any reason why they can't just put a sign out the front of the ride announcing that the ride will close early? I'm all for rides being available from open to close - don't get me wrong - i think the weird hours dreamworld is running are ridiculous - but on my recent trip to Disneyland, the entire fantasyland area was closed at 4pm for a private function (wedding). Posting signage at the entrance to the land was plainly and clearly visible, and that helped us ensure we got through the area before closure. A little honesty from the park would be nice... (if that is in fact the reason for the 'break down'...) I'd hate to have a one-day visit to a park that intentionally closed a ride early without providing advance notice that it would occur. (*This is all based on the presumption that your intent by placing the word breakdown in 'quotes' implied that it wasn't 'actually' a breakdown, especially since it had an approximate occurrence time of 4pm... however unlikely, if my presumption is wrong then I withdraw my comments on the matter.)

If revolution can survive 37 years (in two days time), then surely we'll see Sea Viper around a bit longer, considering it's only 21... Revolution has had 3 different 'launches'... and Viper is only in it's second incarnation... Having said that, viper is in a slightly more corrosive location and as the tallest structure on the spit for a while it also made it quite a target for bad weather as well.... I sincerely doubt they will dismantle and sell it - they'll keep it running - on life support if necessary, until it is no longer salvageable - at which time it'll be scrapped.

Ok so I finally get around to posting a few of my thoughts. As far as the testing day went - organisation was a little lacking. The staff walked us through the gates but there wasn't a headcount or wristband or sticker to identify us to the gate staff - other people could have tagged onto us and separated once inside the park. We also headed into the training room next to scooby by walking down main street before they dropped the rope. It caused a bit of consternation because all the guests waiting for the rope to drop rushed the barrier when they saw we were being let in. I think it would have been easier to lead us down chinatown alley and in the fire escape that way. Other than that, the day was well thought out, and the staff running it had a lot of enthusiasm about the product. Most of you have seen the App by now, and by most accounts you'd share the same opinions as me - I thought it was a good little app, well put together, with plenty of potential to grow. The overwhelming majority felt that the best feature of the app in it's current form was the show-times guide, and the most needed feature was ride wait times. One thing I was surprised about is that the staff pitching this app weren't aware of existing theme park apps like Mouse Wait. I know it's in a different league, but I guess the point is when you look at MouseWait, the first and most prominent feature of the app is the ride wait times. The VIP pass integration into the app was a good one, as was the 'ride count' functionality. All in all there wasn't really anything I could say I 'didn't' like about the app, and plenty of things I did. I can see a lot of room for growth. Some of the features they talked about developing for future versions included: [*]Ride wait times (of course) [*]integration with google maps, so you can get directions through the parks pinpoint your current location etc. There were several other suggestions put forward as well - including a 'day planner' where you can select the shows character appearances you wanted to get to, and the app would plot the day around what you wanted to see. Another suggestion that went along with that were push notifications to remind you when your next show was starting etc. I have to say the guys at MW were really great, lunch was provided at Rick's and for what was really about 90 minutes of our time, it was well worth the trip down for the day. (And I finally, for the first time, got audio on Arkham, AND Green Lantern.) If you haven't downloaded it yet - grab it now and give it a try on your next trip. Input your VIP pass info if you have one to unlock additional functionality, and yes it is available on Android, but from what I picked up on tuesday - the Android version is still a little buggy - with an occasional crash when certain features are used.

But if you're going to take concessions into account - doesn't Dreamworld offer a concession priced world pass? At $45 per park, of course it works out cheaper when you're not doing the waterparks. The OP WAS talking about waterparks, and the moment you factor them in, the VIP or World pass becomes a better value - which also happens to allow more than one day's visit. It only isn't good value for you because if you bought a VIP pass you wouldn't use 1/3 of it. In my opinion - if you're going to travel from interstate to visit the parks, an 'extra' day is needed. If I remember the old 3 Park Super Pass, you got to visit all 3 VRTP parks, and then pick one park to come back and do again.... 4 days at three parks... and it was good to go back and do things you missed. In answer to the original question - I would say do MW, SW & WnW, with a VIP, but Joz is right - the most thrilling ride is in Dreamworld, but the better balanced mix is really your VIP. If you have more than a week,

$500 million China theme park in Australia, NSW
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to mattcrombie's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Since there is a high percentage of asian visitors to our theme parks, does that mean that 'white australians' who visit the theme parks are required to observe and follow asian religious custom too? I've tried to be polite about this. In recent times i've been a little harsh to some people here and i'm trying to be mindful of the harshness of some of my responses, but Cruiseshipfan - since you see fit to twist my words any way you want - i feel compelled to make a statement that you won't be able to twist no matter what... You are a rascist, a bigot, and an uneducated sloth. You are at least 30 years behind the times, and you support the NIMBY culture that forces immigrants to segregate rather than assimilate. From memory, I think you were late teens early 20s. This means that the period where you claim you were forced to undergo islamic schooling would be in the 90's-00's. At a time where Islam wasn't the most favoured culture in the world, I simply can't accept that you went to a publicly funded, non-islamic school that forced you to adopt the religious traditions and observances against your own free will, especially not without Today Tonight or A Current Affair doing an expose on such an occurrence. TO everyone else - unfortunately a bigoted mind such as his is not one you can convince or change - especially with just words on a screen. The best advice I can give is to place this member on ignore, as I intend to do. That is the best message you can send. -
It wasn't an 'expansion' of movie world though..., I don't believe the plan was for it to have a 'gate' at all - just an additional attraction built on the other side of the carpark, which from memory was very much a 'pay per play' type deal...
