  1. If we are looking at the themeing as a whole then I would agree with you... No questions... But is it not the DD ride and the villains precinct two separate things? One just happens to be surrounded by the other? Let me put it like this... When I say ride itself I mean the mechanical components that make up the experience... The gondola, ride vehicle, carriage, whatever... In insurance you can insure a 1977 Holden for market value which is purely the mechanical value of a vehicle or for a sum insured value which you can go sky high with if you have restored it and so on... I'm looking at the bare bones of the actual ride... Nothing that makes it look nice...
  2. The queue, station house, stairs, etc are all part of the themed area... The ride itself is the structure upon which the guests sit on and experience the ride... Which as you point out mainly is just the print and some "bones"... How am I missing the point of a themed area... I am stripping back from the themeing and purely comparing the mechanical ride itself...
  3. If we are looking at the all over of ride experience, theme, blah, blah, blah... I would go Doomsday... Just for the themed area... However... The ride itself is hardly themed... So looking at just ride experience... WipeOut... Cannot handle anything that spins/rotates regardless of speed or other movements so Surf Rider and The Claw are out... Doomsday is just back and forth with little variation... WipeOut has a variety of thrill experiences as mentioned above and also gives you some breathing time between so it is not just one drawn out thrill but multiple thrills...
  4. A lot of the parents from my son's kindy are a little jealous of the things that are created in our household...
  5. Draw: an even score at the conclusion of a game or match. RRRC 10+10+9+9+9+10+9= 66 EFM 9+9+10+9+10+9+9 = 65 Sorry... Your scores say RRRC wins...
  6. I was really looking forward to some of the food options from previous years as everyone made them sound so good... And most of it I could have eaten... Oh well... Sort of want to say there is next year but this being my first year going put a bad taste in my mouth (pun intended) and when we went to our first fright night and it was rather lackluster it took us 10 years to get back
  7. Since October... The only one that has been an actual breakdown was AA I believe... Congratulations on 300 posts It's also always fun to play spot the parkz crew when stuff like this gets reported on facebook...
  8. That's one big bee... Average honeybee length (L) is 15mm... His tackle (T) is average 1/4mm... So L = 60T... You are saying T = 3 feet... 60x3 = 180 feet...
  9. Looking at just the ride and its immediate themeing... RRRC has enough to make it feel like part of the Road Runner vs Wile Coyote chase through the desert... EFM feels planted on some green grass... Maybe some trees (even fake) to feel like the Madagascar wild would bring these two closer in competition in this aspect... RRRC has a continuous feel as it rolls through the ride... EFM feels way too slow at sections (yes I know it is more for kids) and therefore disjoints the ride... RRRC harness is much more forgiving for adults who are going on with their children... EFM is not so... Hands down a win for RRRC...
  10. Imagine that final drop before the final brake run though...
  11. Must have been a quiet night then... My wife had to carry the burger she got all the way to the front lake viewing area before we found a seat...
  12. one-trick pony noun a person or thing with only one special feature, talent, or area of expertise. A lot of flat rides are yes... But given this was supposed to be a oh wow gee coaster... Not just one roll...
  13. So you are saying no one goes on it because of its proximity to TRRR... Yeah... No... Some of my friends don't go on it as it is a one trick pony... Some of my friends don't go on it as it doesn't appeal to them... I don't go on it because of my size... My wife doesn't go on it as she dislikes rides that go backwards... My parents don't go on it as they are not coaster people... My son doesn't go on it because he is too short... This was before October... Nothing to do with proximity...
  14. Quick google... Brings up this fb page... https://www.facebook.com/goldcoastwakepark/ And this... http://pdonline.goldcoast.qld.gov.au/masterview/modules/propertymaster/default.aspx?page=wrapper&key=333535 All signs point to 34 Mausland Road Oxenford...
  15. doz·en (dŭz′ən) n. 1. pl. dozen Abbr. doz. or dz. A set of 12. 2. dozens An indefinite, large number: dozens of errands to run.
  16. It follows on the same lines of asking the ingredients for the challenge they had at movieworld... asked for weeks and no one ever got back to me... or letting them know I was allergic to the starter at outback spectacular and even on the night yet still got given the stuff...
  17. Lactose intolerance and allergy to seafood...
  18. Came tonight... Leaving already... Even their standard food outlet in the area is selling speciality food so nothing little Mr or I can eat... Would have thought that they would at least be selling chicken tenders or something that still fits the theme but apparently not... Also doesn't help the one entrance to the Plaza area has food stalls at one side and the performers are choosing to perform right there as well... Very disappointing... Glad we didn't pay to attend or would be asking for a refund ? While we arent the only vehicle leaving at least there is no queue to get out ?
  19. Working for an insurance company yes... yes I do... You will find that something like this will have some affect on their premiums but given their track history not anywhere as much as you would think... This will however also affect the insurance premiums for other outlets that are required to have the same sort of insurance as it is a guarantee that the re-insurers are needing to get back the money they have had to pay out since the event for any claims made by the park... So if VRTP has the same re-insurers you will find that all the extra attendance at their parks could be helping pay them back for a claim made by DW... Once they make back their money these premiums will drop once again until another event occurs (hopefully not for a long time)... We are seeing a small increase on all insurance premiums at the moment as a direct result of re-insurers having to pay out on multiple events within the Australasian zones that although having zero direct link to these they have the same re-insurers and they are trying to get back the amounts they paid out on other claims...
  20. Yeah almost everything in the ghost train section was from the movie...
  21. 1. Green Lantern (MW) 2. Arkham Asylum (MW) 3. Storm (SW) 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Yeah that was it...
  22. I have taken my son who is tall enough to ride but a little scared to still in through there multiple times... You just have to ask the attendant
  23. Thank you for finding that... Knew I had read that there would be an announcement earlier somewhere but couldn't find it
