  1. I will admit, though I bag it out quite a bit I do enjoy a day at Dreamworld. It's the best park for families, and has a nice mix of attractions. Oh, and Giant Drop is still one of the most intense and best rides in the country. Also, Dreamworld is $5 cheaper than MW or SW since MyFun's ridiculous price raise that I somehow didn't discover until I checked their website yesterday. Dreamworld raised their prices too, but not as much as MyFun.
  2. That list is ridiculous. The fact that Dreamworld is on there is ridiculous, same with Ocean Park. And though I can't say much for it since I haven't been to it, I doubt Everland deserves a ranking that high. Universal Orlando should definitely be on it as well. I could go on, but basically it's a crap list.
  3. Not sure sending messages to parks does anything. My 50 messages to Dreamworld telling them to fix their crappy park just got me blocked from the page. Oh sorry I thought we were dissing Dreamworld now.
  4. As much as it sucks, this is pretty much Clive's reaction to cost complaints. When you're that rich, you hardly care what the little people think of your big projects. (I must admit I was itching to post a Clive Palmer reaction image somewhere on this board.)
  5. I can't imagine how horrendous the lines for Arkham Asylum would be with it's painful slow operations. Even on an empty day the line is over 15 minutes.
  6. Yeah that sounds about right. I'd be expecting 1hr+ queues for most major rides.
  7. I'm actually bitter enough over Sea World's bitchy method of crowd flow control that I'd actually like to see someone win a lawsuit over this if they jumped the fence and were hurt.
  8. Just because it's a family ride doesn't mean it should be a rattly, leg crushing lump of shit. Sorry guys I just added fuel to the MDMC debate fire.
  9. Your first mistake was having any expectations in the first place.
  10. I think the first thing that needs to be done on MDMC is change the godawful legcrushing restraints. Intamin really screwed up with their prototype motocoaster train. I know the seating position fits the theme, but surely they can change it to have a seating position more like Jet Rescues (which is much more comfortable)?
  11. Actually an elevator lift would be a good idea, and Mack do offer it as an option. It'd allow a much longer flume section.
  12. Aussie World really doesn't get that busy. Any time should be fine.
  13. Well we all know he has to attach his name to every single freaking project he does. Indeed, it's just a big ego boost. The whole project is ridiculous, and I can't see anyone visiting it. And his reasoning for the admission cost is just hilarious - comparing it to Disney? Really, Clive?
  14. Come on now, Buzzsaw is still a major addition - larger than Claw at least. It may not be the best ride, but it still counts as a major addition.
  15. Only other watercoaster manufacturer I can think of is Intamin. They've only made one so far - DiVertical at Mirabilandia, Italy - which I had the pleasure of riding in October and must say is a surprisingly good ride and a serious step up from Mack's watercoasters. Then again it is also much larger and more expensive than Mack's. I'll be interested to see if they make a more compact model available in the future though, in which case they could seriously challenge Mack for that market.
  16. We probably wouldn't have room for, say, an Intamin woodie or larger GCI. But GCI's big fun concept looks great and would certainly be a lot more fun than Cyclone. It is quite compact at 83m x 27m. I assume most parks could probably fit that in somewhere? I agree with the thought of putting a woodie in the Wild West section of Movieworld, it seems like a very logical place as AlexB said. I still think Movieworld could get RMC to do a compact woodie, and though it'd probably cost more than Outlaw Run's $10 million I'm sure Village Roadshow could afford it at some point, considering they spent $18 million on Storm Coaster. An RMC woodie, as I said before, would be probably the best ride in Australia and one of the best in the world. And it'd be easy to market to the public if it had a near vertical drop and inversions, as most RMC coasters do. I probably should've said "traditional" or "classic" woodie, or indeed, "modern". I didn't include the wild mice as they are a one car, untraditional wooden coaster design, and I didn't include scenic railway as it is a side friction coaster that uses a brakeman. In that way I meant that Australia doesn't have a traditional wooden coaster - at least since the removal of Bush Beast.
  17. Well this is, um... news. I'd be happy about the wave swinger, but the park already has one. I assume this will be replacing it? The Pinfari, on the other hand... oh God. I guess a standard Pinfari Zyklon like Metropolis at Luna Park would do okay as a family ride. But I don't particularly like the sound of the park getting one of Pinfari's looping deathtraps.
  18. You did not just say that... Did you... Did you... just say that? I'm going to take a stab in the dark and guess you haven't ridden an Intamin wooden coaster. El Toro is regarded as being one of the most thrilling and intense coasters in the world, not to mention one of the best. Same goes for Balder and T Express. Also you talk about how it'd be too smooth, but then say it'd be too rough, like Cyclone? I'm failing to see the consistency here, sorry. But lets ignore the possibility of an Intamin woodie, especially considering one hasn't been built for 5-6 years. A GCI woodie would be a perfect addition. Australia doesn't have a proper wooden coaster, and GCI build some really fun, smooth (but still retaining the classic woodie "rattle") awesome wooden coasters. A smallish GCI woodie would be cheaper than most steel coasters anyway, and would be family friendly due to low height restriction yet still thrilling enough for the brainded teenage public who will jump at the chance at calling it "boring". If we were to then ignore a GCI woodie and think of an RMC woodie like Gazza posted, that's a whole different story. An inverting wooden coaster would be an extremely new and exciting concept for Australia. Its still quite new and exciting overseas. A coaster like that would be acknowledged as one of the very best in the world, and would be a sure fire star attraction to Movieworld for sure. But I'm going to actually put all that aside for a second and ask, what type of steel coaster do you propose Movieworld should add? I can't think of many low cost, compact, enjoyable steel coaster that would beat a woodie IMO. Maybe a eurofighter, but Movieworld already has an El Loco, a very similar concept. Okay, /end essay. Phew.
  19. That was just a concept and isn't actually going to be built. At least I sincerely hope it won't be built and they'll instead announce a compact GCI wooden coaster. (This isn't speculation, just my wishful thinking).
  20. Superman Escape for me. I almost always grey out at the bottom of Superman's top hat up into the first camelback hill. However, for pure positive G's I'd actually say Arkham Asylum. I had no idea SLCs were so intense until I finally rode one without having to brace myself against a torrent of headbanging at every transition.
  21. Come on, a tower of this size would look absolutely ridiculous. Movieworld is not a large park, so this would dominate it to the point of it just looking stupid. That may be excusable if it were to be the park's most thrilling ride, but it probably wouldn't be.
  22. Well the slide is very similar to this, so I'm worried. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7E0vNPrWeSM
  23. The Polercoaster concept has always seemed so strange to me, so I'm amazed that one is actually being built! Let's hope its a great ride.
  24. It clearly doesn't beat Superman Escape, but he probably just said that to please the park and the GP.
