I got stuck in aqualoop. Didn't ride the wedgie since I didn't like being in the tube and the floor dropping.

Do you need to put your loose items in lockers or do they provide free storage?

I would not go on the Aqua Loop again I don't like the drop at the start plus I got stuck that is also why I wouldn't go on the Wedgie at WWW. I think The Giant Drop is pretty intense. I prefer to avoid it but it's worth it for the view.

What rides have you gotten stuck on, or have seen broken down?
Gary86 replied to Jacko's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Not sure. I just left the Tower of Terror after having to leave the Claw line (which I was right in front of) after the floor wouldn't come up and saw a security guard and first aid officer. I didn't know what was going on, I went through Kung Fu Panda land and when then I noticed that Pandamodum had all carriages on the ground except that one with people stuck upside down. I was about to make a video of it but it then got flipped around and returned to the ground. That would be so awful you think it would have a fail safe. I don't think any over rides can be stuck upside down. When I returned to The Claw the riders were still stuck on that as well. I never got a final ride but was very close to being stuck on it. At least they weren't upside down. -

At Dreamworld today I saw some people stuck upside down on the Pandamodum. A security guard and first aid team member rushed to the scene. Also at the same time the floor would not come up on the Claw and people were stuck after the ride. I was next in line but missed out due to the breakdown. Seriously 2 rides broken down at the same time. And the Claw just came out of maintenance. I think I won't return to Dreamworld for a very long time! -
"Belinda" made this comment on Facebook regarding the old Mine Ride. the Mine ride retired a long time ago. It will not be back but one day it will become something else. The project would be huge so no telling when this will happen,, but it will. It was a great ride in its day. :-) So when will this project happen? Next year, 5 years, 10 years? And what will it be? I bet it would be a great new attraction but until I know what it is and when its going to happen I still will not renew may pass which expires next week.

This is what Belinda had to say..."Belinda Brown Kenny is the money bags. Not sure he has enough sitting around for that right now but I will ask nicely." "Belinda Brown He said he would consider it, if I would make dinner every night for a year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

White Water World Tantrum Alley and Mammoth
Gary86 replied to Santa07's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I think it would be better if they combined WWW with Dreamworld. They used to have "Blue Lagoon" included in park entry price so White Water World could be another "world" for Dreamworld and then it doesn't really need to expand. Dreamworld could use the remaining land for a decent attraction.- 14 replies

Doomsday - Potential New Tower Ride at Movie World
Gary86 replied to Gary86's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The survey was on www.futureoffun.com.au . The proposed area is in the fenced off area below Superman Escape. I think it might be too big for that area as the tower is BIGGER than Dreamworld's (and it might kill DW who are very proud of their tower being so tall). I may be ok in a different area but they already have Batwing so it's not a great idea. View will be good though... -
I suggested to dreamworld on facebook to buy it ,lets see what they say...

As a former Movie World employee the rules are NO piercings for men. They must be taken out before you start your shift and NO visible tattoos.

Too right. I don't like Big Brother either so I don't watch it. If the show was unpopular Channel 9 would axe it. I would love to see the show axed then maybe Dreamworld can really improve themselves plus they would have more land to expand the park and add that big rollercoaster they need to beat Village.

I went to Dreamworld tonight and I must say it was the exact oppisite when it comes to crowds. Very short lines for all rides except Zombie Evilusion which was very boring for me since I don't like lazer tag. It was also bad that there was no info around for when the lazer light show was on. Also Cyclone should be renamed The BLender since it throws you around too much and it struggles to get up the lift hill.

So I went to my first Fright Nights last night. I went into all four mazes starting with the ones in the movie studios. I then went to Hillbilly Slasher where the line seemed to start by going through Boot Hill in 2 directions. I had to avoid gravestones and there was a big drop at the end with 2 separate lines pushing in. The line was long, very long if ever go again I may need to get a fast pass. The last maze I went through was the one inside Scooby where I was the leader! Some scare actors did bump into me but they apologized. It's sometime hard to avoid them. At the end I thought I lead everyone to the emergency exit but apparently that was the correct way. It was then after 9pm so I missed the show and all rides except Scooby were closed so I only got 1 ride in. That chainsaw was scary wasn't it? It had to be fake right? In case someone got too close? My only advice I can give to Movie World if they read this forum is lower the crowds. It is absolute chaos. Not only are there some very long lines but too many cars trying to get in and out. More nights + less people = more enjoyment. A show in the Roxy is needed too.

With the one on one interview at Dreamworld we all filled out an application form and handed it in to the correct person (there were labelled boxes for each department). After that we all stood around until our name was called out by one of the many interviewers. There were many staff from around the park doing them so many people could be interviewed at the same time. Movie World was pretty much the same but the interview session was only for two departments and we already had our application forms that we printed out when we got invited to the interview session. We split into 2 lines, whoever was in front had to what till the next one was called and hand in our application form. I applied for the jobs since it did say possibility of ongoing work on the job ads. At both interviews they did ask at the end when I would be available to start. Although another reason I may have missed out was that I was not available to work nights since I don't drive and would use public transport but I always see Village staff catching the bus so I don't really see that an issue. I mean I may not be able to work night events but they still would need staff during the day they can't work all day and night.

Back in 2005 I attended a group interview at Movie World. I think I applied for the September holidays but was too late but got the interview for the Christmas period after applying again. I recall just having to say a bit about myself and I had to phone up the next day to see if I was successful... and I was. I think one of the main reasons I got the job which was a seasonal food and beverage was because I did the same thing over at Dreamworld the year before. They kept on asking me things like whether Dreamworld had mobile carts. The parks hire more staff in Food and Beverage. This year I tried out at both Dreamworld and Movie World for a retail job. The Dreamworld interview was held at White Water World just inside the entry after the park closed where they held one on one group interviews. To get an interview all you had to do was apply online and attend a session. With Movie World the interview was held at Outback Spectacular which was a one on one group interview. I may have missed out since I was after ongoing work and because I was employed they didn't want me to trow my job away in case they didn't have any work for me after the holidays. From now on I will only go for non seasonal jobs if I apply. By the way another reason I may have missed out is when I told them I work at Coles they were very interested in what I do. Back then I was really just a filler. Now I have started working checkouts I may have a better chance if a suitable job came up.
-
Well I did get a seasonal job at Dreamworld back when I was in year 12. It was my first job.
-
I went to the last casting call which was meant to be employment for the September holidays right up to February 2014. I was going for a retail job but didn't get it despite I have a lot of retail experience. But it's all part of Dreamworlds cost cutting. The younger you are the cheaper it is to employ you.

Queensland Government Launches "Theme Park Capital" Campaign
Gary86 replied to Bmull19's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I do agree with the list. It proves that Dreamworld really has gone downhill and is currently the worst theme park (I count Wet n Wild as a water park) on the Gold Coast which is very bad since it is also Australia's largest theme park so they should be the best. -
I don't like the fact that the train runs from 11-4. It should operate all day to help people get around the park. When will Dreamworld learn that the park closes at 5pm not 4! On my last visit I boarded the proper steam train at AWE and we were all forced off it at Main Street because it was after 4pm!
