  1. @New display name that’s (one) of the biggest issues with Village, no transparency about anything. And I don’t think at any point they’ve said there is more to come, they said it was officially open (with 14hrs notice) and that’s it. I think a lot of visitors/enthusiasts have said they hope there is more to come, but I honestly think what we see is what we’re getting. They might add some world class shade sails over some of the queues, but that’s about it. Dreamworld have openly said there is more to come because it was all planned to be ready for opening day, but unfortunately due to shipping delays and quality issues some of it wasn’t ready. So they said here it is, it’s officially open, but this isn’t the final product and it’s going to get even better over the next few months as new pieces arrive and are installed.
  2. Superman’s maintenance has been brought forward a couple of weeks and has already closed. Still scheduled to reopen April 4.
  3. Looking at the rides spec, it needs a clearance area of 16m x 35m So it would fit, but only leaves 2m for a footpath. However you’d want the pathway to run alongside the dolphin lagoons so the ride can swing out over the lake. Which would mean you don’t need the entire 35m envelope (as I’d say at least a third of that would be over water, like SW San Antonio).
  4. In the meantime, a quick measurement of the two rides. Vortex has almost 37m. While Tidal Surge is just under 30m. I didn’t include the queue area of Tidal Surge because that can be placed in a different location/orientation at our SW, but gives an idea of scale for the rides footprint (when swinging over water)
  5. Really good video and (unfortunately for VRTP) it all comes across as accurate, especially the ‘fear of dreamworld’ comments!
  6. @Levi you’d be surprised with what they could fit in that area of land. I’m sure it would all fit if they wanted, and if it doesn’t, take more land from the lake! I’m sure @DaptoFunlandGuy would love to overlay Tidal Surge from SeaWorld San Antonio on Vortex’s site for comparison!
  7. It’s now been removed from every part of the website except the map
  8. @DaptoFunlandGuy DWs latest post clarifies that if you have a booking for Jane’s you don’t have to pay the $2 entry fee.
  9. I agree, but my wish is they replace Vortex with one of these. Swinging over the water would be awesome.
  10. Agreed and I hope that’s the case for all of Villages nighttime events. Especially Fright Nights.
  11. Agreed, but its location and lake of care given by management to this area ruined it. I’m hoping they demo it all and it forms part of Wild West again with a kick ass flat ride. But keep the props/statues and use them as theming for other things in the future (FN Maze, DC event). But of course from a cost pov, they’ll probably just slap another flat ride in the middle and call it a day.
  12. I get the feeling a lot of people won’t be. The event hasn’t had massive crowds the last few years and this year I haven’t really noticed the park even pushing the event in marketing.
  13. It’s all been sorted and the events page is now live. Annual passholders who didn’t buy a ticket for the last event can buy one for the February date for $10. https://www.dreamworld.com.au/events/after-dark
  14. There’s also a sever error on the After Dark page and the redecoration for Jane’s on Saturday nights also isn’t working. Must be a few errors currently happening with their system.
  15. We haven’t got any evidence of how it was dismantled. We saw seats being detached and now it’s just the central column left. I can’t imagine they want to destroy it guns blazing if they plan on keeping everything else in the area for whatever the rides replacement is. I think it’s safe to say this is going in the bin and if any park were to buy it from them… terrible decision.
  16. Didn’t take long But this is surprising considering Vekoma’s are some of the most reliable coasters in the world. Of course this could just be for a day or two.
  17. If they are already starting construction dare I say they might be pushing for an Easter opening. But with Villages track record, I’d say a September opening is more likely.
  18. I don’t think we’ll see the train complete the full circuit again until the finishes touches are made to Rivertown. There is a BOH gate behind Jane’s that was used for machinery to access the land during construction. That gate is alongside where the train track goes and because it’s been filled in, it makes access easier. I’d say we’ll see the train completing the loop by Easter.
  19. If Green Lantern isn’t there, I don’t think anything will be there. And two flat rides probably won’t make the statement the park would want at the front. Vortex would be better suited in the trash because it is in no way a good ride. It isn’t popular at SW and it wouldn’t be anymore people at MW (and it’s also a maintenance nightmare).
  20. Rapids, waterfalls and tunnels! I know they used to have a small tunnel and a waterfall, but they don’t anymore
  21. Agreed! Just look at the 3 lazy rivers in Victoria as an example for this. - Adventure Park Geelong's is pretty simple, but it has a rapids section and is planted out nicely. - Gumbuya World has rapids, tunnels and landscaping. At times it is concrete trough that doesn't feel well integrated, but overall nicely done. - Funfields have just own theirs and from photos it is also landscaped nicely, has bridges, a small tunnel and a rapids machine. I honestly think that if WWW did one similarly to WnW in terms of scale, making it feel like an oasis/destination that some people will spend all day at and then adding a section of rapids, waterfalls and tunnels, that would be enough of a difference and offer that 'Dreamworld Difference'. We've just seen what the park (with PicoPlay and the other consultants) can do with Rivertown, imagine taking that and making it into an entire new precinct for the water park that has a lazy river connecting it all together.
  22. I definitely agree and while I think the overall quality of slides at WWW in comparison to WnW is better, its a hard sell to the general public when they could visit WnW for just $20 and on paper you get a whole lot more.
