  1. Is that rust, or just grease from the anti-roll back/chain dog underneath the train? Not saying it is acceptable if it is just grease.
  2. True, was a bit of poetic licence used there 😁 Did the report ever get released into what happened?
  3. The members of this board understand that, but the general public don't. I lost count of the amount of times I had to explain that WWF is a very different beast to TRRR around my office. The same. We have a OnePass but haven't even thought about Dreamworld passes.
  4. Never claimed they where as bad as Dreamworld. My point was more that Movie World isn't the standard that we should be holding everyone else to, and reminding people that Village where nearly in the position themselves that Ardent are in now. Look back at the photos of the Green Lantern carriage teetering on the track, with a sole tie down strap and a brave firefighter potentially being all that stopped that carriage falling to the ground. The same reviews would have occurred, the same rides would have been shut down (TRRR may not have happened), DC Rivals probably would not have been built and both companies would be struggling along, with Ardent probably doing better out of the two.
  5. AA has a systematic approach to maintenance, with the spare bogies being rebuilt throughout the time the ride is running. But, let's not forget Green Lantern was out for extended down time (and was inches away from killing people, we have seemed to have forgotten that fact). I think Doomsday Destroyer also had some unscheduled down time recently. Scooby has looked like crap for a long time, and we where constantly harping on about how the effects didn't work in that prior to the stripping of the themeing too. Movie World isn't perfect, it's just the boot is into Dreamworld at the moment on this forum at the moment (like it was into Movie World a few months back).
  6. A Franna crane, a boom lift and a petrol demolition saw will make quick work of the section through the water park. I don't think it will be moving to a new home when the time comes to remove it. The existing station building and spiral queue building could be re-used for slide towers.
  7. Agreed. I guess we should all consider "Would I speak to that person like that, face to face" before posting. Especially given as from the guidelines The Parkz Forums are not a strictly real time discussion environment such as chat rooms. Here you have time to properly construct your thoughts into full and meaningful sentences.
  8. Thanks alot! I've got that bloody song stuck in my head now! You're off my Christmas card list 😋
  9. As I said before, the winch system is the limitation. The few times I've ridden it in two train operation, we've normally ended up either slowing or completely stopping entering the section with the catch car. To me that part of the ride should be quickly taken around the police car and latched onto the catch car as quickly as possible. Not twiddling our thumbs waiting between "it's superman" and "alright folks....." whilst the system catches up. Adding blocks won't improve throughput, it will just lengthen the ride time and increase maintenance (extra train, extra sensors etc).
  10. My thinking was that the car was rolled down there and stopped. But maybe doesn't sit quite in the perfect position for lifting without impacting the tunnel. The chocks keep it in the right spot. Or could just be an OH&S requirement as it has wheels and doesn't have a hand brake.
  11. Look like wheel chocks to stop it rolling away whilst being attached to a crane.
  12. Even if you had a longer track, the main restriction would be the reload time for the winch. Only so fast it can reset.
  13. Filming a race between a bogan and a race car driver. Driving a quad buggy around. Bit of slap stick with the police. Fire ball crash. Very light on stunts, got nothing on say police academy.
  14. They could also apply some projection mapping to the room, for effect.
  15. Leave everything but the car key & some cash back in the car, and enjoy the park. Makes for a more enjoyable day I've found.
  16. Not going to help with this particular circumstance, but for historical QLD images, go to https://qimagery.information.qld.gov.au/ You can select suburbs, or even sections of the map. It will then search and report back any aerial's it finds. There are some good ones of the Studio's, then Movie World under construction, then complete on there. Haven't checked out the other parks.
  17. I'd keep the tower, run a launched coaster at it along the TOT right of way. Up into a loop (or banked turn) that took it over the railway as and run it around in the old water storage/mine ride area. You'd probably have to run it up to where the station is now to turn around though. But the new station could be closer to the tower with a modern launch system, moving the noise away from the Tigers. My 2 cents.
  18. Maintenance on the machines is probably higher than the syrup cost.
  19. To the 'farm' of course. Times are tough, have to source lamb from somewhere 😂
  20. Any noticeable differences in the track profile?
  21. Because it allows the NIMBY's to get involved, drag the process out and consumes funds.
  22. Did the request come from Kim perhaps, as part of the healing process? Ardent would struggle to refuse a request from a family member. There might have been a psychologist off camera for all we know, funded by Channel 7 of course.
  23. As above, stay near the MRT. We stayed on Sentosa, and the hotel had a shuttle to VivoCity (HarbourFront station). That in itself was a pain, as we where on the end of the line. I'd visit Sentosa from a city base if I went again. We missed most of Gardens as it too so long to get there by public transport. The Zoo, it's a long way by public transport. I'd cough up for a cab, at least as far as the final bus to the Zoo. In 2013, most shopping centres didn't open till 10am, to the point even most lighting wasn't on but you could walk through them. Breakfast options where limited too (this was VivoCity). Our son was just 3 at the time, so we kept him on the Brisbane schedule (nap at 12pm Bris [10am Sing]) then ran him flat out till he crashed in the evening. That got us around the 10am start issue.
  24. It's probably one of the highest force areas of track, so this might be to see what has changed after 12 months, and work out a longer term maintenance schedule from there. This was only the second Mack Hyper, and Flash has a different first element in comparison. Probably wrong, but that's what I think might be happening.
