  1. Sorry for resurrecting an old post but figured it was relevant given the circumstances. Am I the only one who thinks it's weird to have a memorial? I know everyone probably has their own complex feelings about this whole situation but I'm finding it hard to reconcile the idea of 'family theme park' and 'memorial' and it not feel a bit ~weird~. I'm kind of having trouble articulating my opinion further than just "weird" but yeah that's my two cents anyway.
  2. My problem with the lift hill isn't the sound its how long it takes, like sure it would have been nerve-wracking having such a long ascent in the darkness the first dozen times, but after all these years its just boring. There's probably not much they could do to change it though without a significant overhaul. My idea for revamping the lift hill into something exciting would be an elevator (kind of like the one Scooby has) but theme it around a geyser, so its like a geyser lifting the boat to the top of the mountain. Don't know if that's practical but it'd be fun!
  3. Weird seeing the Log Ride like that, doesn't even look like a theme park ride anymore, more like some abandoned piece of outback machinery.
  4. Rather than cleaning the WWF boats periodically they should just put some bleach in the water, that wouldn't cause any problems, right?! Better yet, market the ride as a covid prevention ride, just make sure to open your mouth on the way down the final drop!
  5. I miss Dreamworld circa 2004, the park was perfect then.
  6. Blue Lagoon is still there 16 years after closing. Maybe don't get your hopes up that the Log Ride is going to be demolished any time soon.
  7. Just wait, in 10 years time every ride at Dreamworld will be replaced with iPads.
  8. I'm still bitter about not being able to ride 'Hollywood Dream' at Universal Studios Japan because apparently my thighs were too 'thicc' to get the waist harness down. (For the record I was only 80kg and 5ft 11in at the time).
  9. I mean I kind of understand the whole 'signature attraction front and centre' bit but I kind of hate that approach to theme park design (after all if you keep putting every new signature ride up front then then things will get crowded and ugly). Put your best rides throughout or even at the back of the park to draw people through your entire park. Granted Dreamworld is a different park than it used to be, so TRRR former site makes sense to fill the hole but I still don't think all the big rides should be up front.
  10. Could always use 3D recreations I suppose but yeah fair point.
  11. Okay so first of all not sure if this deserves its own topic (ain't that a great way to start a post) but I had an idea for Sky Voyager that I thought was worth sharing. A retrospective of Dreamworld through the years complete with on-ride, first person experiences of past rides along with the scenery and music that makes memories of the park from the past so strong for so many of us. It wouldn't be an expensive of an addition to the park, in-fact it'd almost be something that could run periodically throughout the day alongside whatever current Sky Voyager movie is playing as opposed to consistently (like maybe at open, midday and close). Not only do I think this would strengthen the 'Dreamworld' brand which they're obviously intent on keeping despite the aggressive downsizing but also soften the blow for those of us who remember when visiting 'Dreamworld' felt like an actual dream come true and not some fractured memory of past-greatness.
  12. Too soon? Jokes aside, by many reports I've seen on here seems like Dreamworld has a lot of dead spots nowadays...
  13. Predictable position for it I suppose, but one I strongly disagree with. Could be worse though, at least it's not in the parking lot.
  14. I can understand people's impatience, being a theme park/roller coaster enthusiast in Australia is tough at the best of times let alone amidst a global pandemic and all the other shit happening to theme parks. Also spare a thought for us in Victoria, living vicariously through these updates... but yeah I also agree, no need to hound people for updates they will come when they come.
  15. Have they said where in the park this coaster is to be situated? Sorry if it's already been said elsewhere in the topic.
  16. I know right? Like if covid can be transferred through theme park vomit. Though to be fair I don't think I've ever actually seen theme park vomit outside of Roller Coaster Tycoon...
  17. Cant they replace that wall(s) with something harder to graffiti, like you know, actual brickwork?
  18. I think the biggest fallacy regarding Movie World is that they somehow need to tie their attractions to big film releases to stay relevant. Let's face it, it's a theme park not a museum, being relevant to cultural phenomena is secondary (generously speaking) to actually having a good ride experience. Wild West Falls being the truest indicator of this, a legendary ride originally (tenuously) themed to a flopbuster and thereafter renamed to possibly the most generic of theme park staples, and yet I don't here anyone frantically calling for it to be tied to whatever flavour of the month multiplex monstrosity that's raking in the big bucks. tl;dr, HWSD doesn't need to be Mad Max themed or whatever, it just needs to be good and fun and funny. Like, seriously just make it Police Academy again, who the f cares if it's not relevant as a movie franchise. Last time I checked people were still watching and enjoying the damn thing. stl;sdr; good ride/attractions >good theme/good movie tie-in.
  19. Sucks to hear that about Tobu Zoo, they were on my itinerary for this trip. Guess I might have to give it a miss.
  20. I'll be heading to Japan for my second trip this October/November so I'll give a trip report afterwards. On our first trip we went to Disneyland/DisneySea and Universal Studios so I can easily recommend that but I guess it depends whether you're after a theme park experience or just want lots of roller coasters.
  21. 'Roller coaster enthusiast' is like the least embarrassing amongst my various obsessive interests. Also, I have no friends so it doesn't really matter anyway, lol.
  22. I assume because the common man knows Wonder Woman is DC or at the very least 'comic book' themed. Whereas Rivals is relatively unknown by many people, so I guess they wanted Joe public to know its very much superhero, comic themed from the get go.
  23. When I saw that @Slick I immediately thought of
