  1. VRTP has a online market research panel. The doomsday ride was a proposal only that we were asked for feedback on.
  2. ??? That's the definition of a contradiction!!
  3. I'd say no. If that's your thing try JB Hifi, City Beach or JayJays and the like.
  4. Misleading it may be, but entirely legal it is. Say no and keep Walking.
  5. I would debate anyone who says they were harassed. They cannot move more than 2 metres from their allocated positioning. They can't physically come up to you. It's a sale pitch by sales people. If you respond, that's your choice. To call them parasites is a bit rich. They are people doing a job they are paid to do. Just because u don't like their profession doesn't mean you should demean them. There is no scam involved, and the parks are paid handsomely. I didn't see anyone complaining when Ford were at MW and asking everyone to come test drive the cars. U had to give them your details & then get calls trying to get a purchase out of u. Same process, different product.
  6. A joke gets old by the thousandth times it's said. The Dreamworld page was flooded with it. everytime the show gets renewed there is outrage by people who claim it's terrible viewing and rubbish. I don't really like it either, but no one is forcing people to watch it. I'm just just saying this about big brother, it's the same when people bag out the footy show for being terrible.
  7. If you don't like it don't watch it. There is more than 1 channel on Australian TV. Big Brother is one of the few Australian made shows that hires only local production crew. Over 60 crew are involved in production of the show, who would be without jobs without it.
  8. Thanks for sharing. I don't like eating mangoes.
  9. I can't see another theme park opening in Sydney within the next 6-8yrs. WnWS will no doubt have a tremendous launch in a market that has had a hole in it since Wonderland closed. First year results will smash expectations. But there would need to be 5-10yrs on ongoing success at WnWS before VRTP would consider opening another theme park, or another operator enter the market. Like any business, there will be a drop off at some point (year 3 probably) and I'm not talking seasonal I am talking overall, and it will be how WnWS responds that will determine its success, and many operators will see this at the litmus test for the feasibility of another park in Sydney
  10. I can assure you the BB compound was under serious threat at one point. The fire got within 100m. Under control now though thankfully.
  11. Would certainly explain jambaroo's increased marketing presence. As for the Gold Coast parks, there is likely to be little to no impact with WnWS opening. Locals will still goto the parks, and interstate & local tourists will still come to the GC for holidays
  12. Don't write off McDonald's as a hole. Fast food isn't everyone's cup of tea, no doubt, but they invest countless dollars in the training & development of their staff, and their procedure and structures are amongst the best in the world, in any industry. When I am hiring juniors people with experience at Maccas got to the top of the pile. They can operate under a set structure & are generally very efficient. It may probably not be the career you want to see yourself doing in 10 years, but not many people build a career within the first company their ever work for. My first job was at Toys R Us, and then Big W whilst I was in years 10-12.
  13. So watched an hour or so of the today show this morning. Couple of notable things: A new Stunt Show opens at the end of November, incorporating the stunt cars with a lot more motor cross. There was a mini-preview with a big ramp in the arena and riders doing superman jumps across the arena. They did name the show but I've forgotten what it was. The crossed to Karl & Lisa preparing for launch on Green Lantern, and the ride broke down due to mechanical failure so they crossed to a break, had to leave home so not sure if they ever got their ride on the tv
  14. If you arrived between 5am & 7am you got free entry and selectees rides were open from 5:30am. You also then get to spend the day in the park without charge
  15. No offence but they are pretty basic interview questions for any customer service based role. When you said difficult I thought they may have been asking behavioural style reasoning questions
  16. So your are saying Scooby's track is not well thought out? How do u mean exactly?
  17. I'd be disappointed in the choice of park. This ride would be suited to MW, but Storm is a perfect fit for SW, and a great choice IMO.
  18. yeah well it would be hard for them to be able to justify a $90 ticket price given that's the cost of a VIP pass.. The proof in the pudding for the success of Fright Nights would be if they removed it as being included in the VIP pass. I'm not advocating getting rid of Gold level VIP passes, but maybe having a Gold Pass gives you say 50% discount on fright nights and white xmas, and obviously some other ongoing benefit to make it worthwhile (i.e. 9am entry on weekends). I just dont know how many VIP pass holders would pay to go vs those that just go because it is included in the price. There is also room i believe for my disparity between regular VIPs and Golds. None of this free upgrade to Gold. That cheapens the product and the point of being a Gold level VIP. Regular VIP $99 Gold VIP $129 (or $30 more than whatever price they put on the VIP pass. $99 is too cheap IMO but as we have seen on here and various other pages, they have trained the locals that they should be getting so much for so little that any raise is met with ridiculous uproar) Fright Nights - $50 or $100 for a season pass - Gold VIPs get a 50% discount White Xmas - $40 or a family of four for $120. Gold VIPs get a 50% discount Slight increase in pricing across the board, no 'freebies' as such for Fright Nights and I believe you will see more reasonable queue times.
  19. It's a real petrol-powered chainsaw, minus the cutting chain. It also equals significantly increased cost per ticket...
  20. Get some money off your parents/siblings. I'm sure they will shout you a shirt, or a least lend you the money, to ensure you look presentable and more likely to get the job. As Gazza just said, you can pick up a polo or button up shirt for under $15 a Kmart. And you will get more than one use out of it. If your parents/siblings cant help you, go to Centrelink and apply for Youth allowance and buy it with your first payment. Everyone is different in terms of recruiters, but if i was interviewing you and you came in a t-shirt, regardless of your experience or anything you say on the day, you would not get the job. The second i saw you walk in, you would be ruled out. That may sound judgmental, hell it is, but its about effort and professionalism. If you are going to be wearing a uniform that represents my business, in an interview scenario i can only judge the way you present yourself on what you are wearing that day. A motto i have always lived by professionally is to dress for the level above you, or the level above that you are applying for.
  21. You can't wear a tshirt to an interview. Ever. A polo shirt or button up short-sleeve shirt would be the absolute minimum.
  22. not too sure to be honest i know you have to be over 18 to be a ride op. I would assume you could work in the other areas of the park if you were under 18 though. Im sure some of the F&B staff are under 18.
  23. some good advice there for the youngans AlexB, or those not experienced in interviews I'd always recommend to dress business for any interview, unless as in your case at Wonderland, it was expressed what you should wear. Business doesnt have to mean suit and tie, but a pair of slacks and a business shirt. Even if you know you wont have to wear business attire for the job if you get it, it shows you go to an effort and presentation and professionalism is important to you. First impressions are everything, and you cannot re-do a first impression. Most interviewers will make up their minds as to whether you will get the job within the first 2 minutes, based on how you are presented, how you carry yourself and speak (confidence) in those first few minutes.
  24. which areas where these? have you been back recently to see if this work is still required, or if it has now been done??
