Tiger Island to discontinue human interaction
Brad2912 replied to Brad2912's topic in Theme Park Discussion
They’ll stand in the “reserved” seating area no doubt, and likely just be a paid staff member (not a handler) giving a 5min spiel on tiger facts and conservation “tigers are the largest big cats, they are endangered, there’s a box over there for cash donations”. Give it 12 months and it will be “an audio presentation occurs every hour at tiger island” and what was a unique and memorable experience will be replaced by a $500 Bose speaker with a loop track -
If the train will navigate the entirety of the track forward or backward on a rotational basis, then it makes the show scenes you’d think far more tricky and costly as every second ride everyone is facing the opposite way.

Tiger Island to discontinue human interaction
Brad2912 replied to Brad2912's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Just found this in the GCB article: One of the biggest changes coming for the park will be on its renowned Tiger Island, where direct contact between tigers and handlers is set to be phased out within 18 months as public amid shifting public sentiment around performing animals. Despite the change, Dreamworld said Tiger Island would remain a fixture at the park, with guests still able to view them, and that it would continue to support tiger conservation projects in the field via Wildcats Conservation Alliance. Doesn't fly for me. You're either all in or all out. The tigers got enrichment interacting with the handlers on the island, they've been raised with it and accustomed to it. Without handlers on the island, i also believe it limits the amount of tigers that can be on the island at once as there is no-one to "manage" the behaviours or immediately react if the tigers decide to go at it. So the tiger island we used to see with 4-5-6 tigers out with 2-3 handlers will now become what i saw on Saturday which was 2 tigers out, no handlers, and therefore no people taking any notice. -
Tiger Island to discontinue human interaction
Brad2912 replied to Brad2912's topic in Theme Park Discussion
It was never about performances. The whole concept of TI was that you could see these wild animals interacting safely with their human counterparts, the relationships built between the handlers and the tigers, that you could ask questions and get information, see the conservation message firsthand etc. That was what set TI apart from a zoo exhibit you'd see at Taronga or Melbourne. If that appeal and point of difference is going, then IMO, so should the tigers. -
I havent seen mention of it here, but have on FB, that Tiger Island will also be getting a refurb/remodelling as the park moves away from keeper interaction with the tigers - i.e no longer doing presentations etc. If that is the case, and its basically set to be become a zoo exhibit, then for mine they may as well get rid of it. Tiger Island since day one was about the interaction between tigers and handlers visible to the public, about understanding their natural instincts and behaviours in the wild (as much as possible in a controlled setting). If what we are getting is just a couple of tigers sitting in a smaller location than what is current, i'd be done with it and use the land for better purpose - and thats coming from someone who LOVES tigers.

Completely forgot to post after my visit on Saturday… when I was on Tail Spin you could clearly notice they have cleared and levelled the land out of the back towards the boneyard, where the Monster Trucks were a couple of years ago…. And in the middle of that cleared land - one of those “globe of death” motorcycle cages half covered by a tarp. that coupled with the “circus” line being used constantly in promos points me to us getting a big top and circus over the holiday period. id hope their big announcement is far more than that however…. -
Because the IT Maze has been in there since 2019 FNs

I’d imagine if staff were aware of that happening that they’d be removed. If not, they should have been. Need to stop pandering to morons
-
Self-entitled people who think not sitting thru another 1min of a ride they chose to get on is more important than the enjoyment of 40 other people don’t deserve to remain in the park imo.
-
Yep, as far as I am concerned it they should have been kicked from the park. The Self-entitlement does my head in.

No screen anymore at TI Only the 2 white tigers on show
-
Can confirm ST is running today on another note just had our first ever stoppage on Sky Voyager - Someone did the X above their heads to stop the ride. When asked if they were ok once we were back in the loading position they stated “yeah I’m fine this ride is just boring” 🤬

Some things can’t be planned for - like unplanned maintenance…
-
Not particularly tbh… there will be some requirements in terms of drainage, design of ground level, basement etc, but it won’t impact the overall approval

Dreamworld's new IP applications 2022
Brad2912 replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
“We are very excited about this new product which has been carefully curated to what our guests are looking for in their theme-park experience,” Mr Yong said. “Importantly, we will be bringing new attractions to market in each year, which is crucial in continuing the trajectory we are currently seeing.” After Ardent struck the deal to sell Main Event last year, Mr Yong hinted at using the proceeds to invest in new attractions, possibly bigger than its new $32m Steel Taipan. “All I can say is, the Steel Taipan is the biggest thing we’ve ever done – for now,” he said at the time. https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/business/gold-coast-business/ardent-leisure-posts-its-best-first-quarter-since-2017-wipes-debt-and-flags-new-attractions/news-story/1e9071cc81ceba8b96c7db15171dbbe5?mibextid=Zxz2cZ -

New ride Gondola for the Is giant drop dream world
Brad2912 replied to trevorfromaustralia's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I’d imagine new gondolas would have formed a key part of their announcements and signage up around the park describing the scope of works if they were in the plans.. -
Closing down just isn’t an option, they are not retiring that area of the park. A re-theme is a distinct possibility that there have been some indicators pointing towards. The recent results release points to some major announcements within the next couple of weeks

“We are very excited about this new product” (singular) Followed by “new attractions each year” makes me think the “product” is likely an IP, and the attractions will be varied and not all rides. -
I don’t think you’d get a job with a company that specialises in painting at heights if you are scared of heights. 99.9% of all the jobs in the world don’t require that, so I’m sure they could find something else

I can see the top of the tower from home and have noticed some brighter lights both at the top and also around the mid point in recent nights so it’s definitely getting a move on with night works finally
