  1. Actually Dean is (or at least was) completely correct. Luna Park's maintenance team were always part of (and referred to as) Multiplex. They were pretty much always the same team based at the park though, so I wouldn't really call it outsourcing. But I don't know the details of the arrangement. Multiplex, the company, was a major shareholder of Luna Park. They probably still are
  2. Oh wow - that second photo reveals a lot especially! Cheers thanks for the info
  3. Sorry I wasn't suggesting it will only use the BRC plot, rather that general area. Still interesting how it's going to work though and whether any of those existing buildings will be kept or incorporated. We know our parks don't like to get rid of existing buildings! Also, from looking at old park maps (and I know this is not a guarantee of accuracy), it looks like the old country jamboree animatronic show was located closer to where the Billabong restaurant is now. So not sure how accurate their call is on that
  4. Was the show building specifically built for BRC or was it repurposed? Thoughts on whether it will be staying or going with Jungle Rush on its way? I still can't imagine how that coaster is going to fit into that plot
  5. Totally. WoO was to do with the need to replace Arkham with something and surveys continually finding that a lack of family attractions was the issue for MW. Atlantis was from way back when VRTP became acutely aware of the lack of ride inventory at SW
  6. Rare freak accident? I'd say it's actually quite the opposite of that, considering the Malificent dragon in the Disney parade also caught on fire a year or so ago and was covered all over the news
  7. Was once Australia's largest theme park - now look at it!! It looks like a regional park in Victoria, only with less theming
  8. Coaster Studios will be missing out on both Scooby and Superman, right? That's a downright tragedy
  9. That's only because the development of Movie World and these other parks you mention were all linked due to earlier affiliations, not so much because of being 'inspired'
  10. I believe it is heritage listed so it's likely they'd have to keep it as a going concern
  11. Love that the park has already started alluding to Surf Rider taking up its new position. It's great to get these sneak peeks about what's coming up
  12. Movie World have a thing called 'ride checks' where a member of staff goes on the ride during their shift to check everything appears to be operating normally. Regarding the lack of lasers, I also understand that this was due to fire safety issues and the need to make changes (probably expensive) to allow smoke
  13. Hang on - isn't Pandamonium joining Ocean Parade? Serpent Slayer wouldn't make much sense in that case
  14. Jamberoo has come so far. So sad to hear that the audio and SFX in Perfect Storm weren't working though. That was a selling point for me
  15. Wow, informative and well researched. So rare for the commercial media!
  16. Damn, shame Scooby is still down with TPW in the park. They did say they have some flexibility in their schedule, but who knows when it will reopen
  17. Let's hope the GC parks have all of the top attractions open, and ideally they'd let them film on ride. TPW uses very secure go pro set-up all strapped to his body @Bikash Randhawa
  18. People talking about space restrictions as an excuse for not adding new attractions. Look at what you can do if you're willing to be a bit creative and spend a bit of money. Grona Lund is a great example. Back in the day LPM managed to fit in not only the Scenic Railway, but also the Big Dipper, Ghost Train, River Caves and numerous other attractions. The question is, does Lindsay Fox want to spend any money?
  19. Whether they operate it in the wind or not is not going to be a decision based on whoever operates it that day and how 'comfortable' they are; there will be a park determined cut-off point, probably following manufacturer's guidelines etc. The question is whether it would have been different if they'd gone with the original manufacturer, Funtime. It seems they switched to SBF Visa at the last minute for cost savings. I also don't recall Sky Flyer having so much downtime. And wouldn't you have determined this stuff before deciding on the ride make and model? Unless the wind regulation was imposed later through the regulatory/commissioning process?
  20. I reckon this version is better. Really amps up the song and the visuals: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DeU7x5S47-c
  21. Bring back the Flash wind effect! That's good to hear. Was the Starro mist curtain even back? And how about the spaceship scene - was the background music back in there? Because it has been silent in that scene for ages, apart from the dialogue from the screens when they are working, and it ruined the atmopshere
  22. Yeah I agree, definitely think the idea is that the TNT has blown the hole. Hence the black marks around it. Also, welcome to the forums Stevie!
