Nearmap 2024

Recommended Posts

I'm back after a few weeks away, and checking in on the latest nearmaps. Just keeping them all to this thread for now as there's quite a bit to go through...

Nearmap has a policy usually of doing flyovers only during certain hours, to minimise shadows and deliver the best imagery possible. Many images recently captured of the northern goldcoast (datestamp is 28 December) were done outside of regular flight times to capture as much of the damage as possible - so you will notice that there are many heavy shadows and it does make it difficult to see some things. I've only focussed on areas where damage was clearly visible, but happy to provide further shots later on request if there is something specific you want to see.

Wizard of Oz land

Note the large tree downed in the lower right edge of the land

Paradise Country lost a lot of trees. It's no wonder they've been closed the longest.

if we're just repeating random things we're hearing, I heard that all the animals at PC were safe. Looking at the nearmap images it's clear that the park had a lot of trees down. these have probably impacted exhibits and facilities, and i'm quite sure the priority would have been on clearing MW and WNW enough to reopen as fast as possible, given they have the most patronage on the Oxenford lot.

I haven't heard AOS say anything though, even though several people have asked...

Just noticed that yetsterday, we can finally see recent images of our parks, not ones from 2016. The new ones look to be coming from December 2022, there is a Christmas tree at MW and Dreamworks is still at DW. Hopefully we dont have to wait until 2030 for the next image lol

What the hell have I been doing? ;)

For the record, i'm happy to provide updated images of specific things if requested (feel free to send me a PM if there's something specific you want to chat about to make sure I capture it right) but I generally try to update the images in threads like this whenever I notice there has been an update.

28th December is the most recent shot for all the GC parks due to the 'disaster flyover' after the storms.

They mean recent images directly from Google, and for the general population. Yes, we can see more updated aerial stills thanks to you supplying paid photos from Nearmap, but the main, accessible, interactive, and publicly available aerial map that’s used by 99.99% of people didn’t even have DCR.

Thanks for the mansplanation. The use of the words "we can finally see" and "hopefully we don't have to wait" kind of implied it was for us as a group - the 'we' that you also refer:

Also, incase you missed it, it was also said in jest.

I can't make the emoji bigger for you, so here's a large print version for the vision impaired.

Did miss that, sorry. The emoji showed up real weird on my end, though.

Not Nearmap related exactly, but it appears as though Google has newer maps loaded of our Parks (finally!)

MW: DC Rivals is there, AA removed but still a dirtbowl.

DW: No more TRRR/ToT/Log Ride. Steel Taipan there now.

SW: Atlantis shown, Vikings Revenge still there though.

Just randomly checked Google Maps, & they’ve got updated aerial images yet again (albeit lower quality ones than NearMap).

Not sure when these pics were taken but I definitely took this one last Tuesday. If someone could point it out on the nearmap? Maybe it's just my eyes but I can't seem to find this anywhere?

🤔
