  1. Today
  2. I wish I could get back all the brain cells I lost reading this utterly pointless back and forth but alas, no. 'Tis the folly of this purgatory-like website...
  3. There was certainty no lighting package on WWF at FNs. The entire outdoor area was in complete darkness, only light was that coming from the moon and some glow from the park itself
  4. It's scheduled to be open, but like last year could be pulled from the ride at any time (a day or two before).
  5. Unlikely a themed overlay would be added the first time it’s open straight out of the gate (Scooby that is). As for WWF not being planned to be open, that would be odd given they spent money to add a lighting package just so they could open it for FN and WC. That lighting package also has different overlays for both events.
  6. It is being used but nothing about this seasons production seems “permanent”
  7. Are we sure if Big Brother is using that or not? Not sure on how things are going with that, if another area is being converted for the outdoor section or if that is. If Big Brother is renewed and stays inside the Exhibition Center permanently then it's likely that would remain as is.
  8. Pretty sure they held back WOZ and WWF, but brought them online when Superman shit the bed. There's still plenty of other things to experience on this event without riding something that in no way matches the rest of it. On that note though, i'd love to see them do overlays for scooby. Here's some random thoughts: decorate the queueline - pumpkins or christmas trees? tinsel or extra cobwebs? Add some additional props to the ghost train section - again, pumpkins or christmas trees? tinsel or extra cobwebs? stick a santa hat on the scooby animatronics - or even the 'spooky' animatronics too? Replace the axes in the hands of the suits of armor with candy canes Up the haze in the disco room for halloween, play spooky soundtracks (can just be SFX - or maybe look into licensing relevant tracks - Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' perhaps? Maybe the Scooby movies have something useful? If the lighting package has some interchangeable gobos or something - swtich them out for spiders or something? For christmas, ditch the haze, and stick some snow machines in instead. Fall backwards out of the elevator and get enveloped in falling snow! Play some (public domain) christmas songs with a good beat. Something like "Jinglin'" by Toby Rand. christmas gobos... i don't know what's out there. Now this is obviously based on my knowledge of the original. We have no idea what they've got planned here. If there is still any projection utilised - then perhaps they could switch out the generic day time background for some themed halloween or christmas themed backgrounds. This would actually give a reason for riding it during the event. Yes, it's already very popular and gets long queues - however - plenty of folk avoid it for that reason. these sorts of overlays would encourage those folk to try to ride it - increasing demand and making fast track purchases more likely, which increases revenue. Just spitballing. I know it's highly unlikely. just thought I'd throw it at the wall anyway.
  9. In my opinion - Dreamworld removing gold coaster is not an option removing motocoaster is not an option Installing any big mega coaster (Flying Dinosaur being just one example here) isn't financially viable. doing something with Trolls \ Kevil makes the most sense and cleans up that end of the park nicely Any further DW expansion should make use of the rocky hollow plot before anyone thinks of cramming more shit at the end of Ocean Parade by venturing into the thunderbolt plot. Ideally rocky hollow development would allow them to connect steel taipan's dead end with giant drop, forming a loop - like thunder river used to have - rather than a dead end and a long walk between the two big thrill rides. WhiteWaterWorld Needs a lazy river Should utilise the shell or thunderbolt plot Install a good slide tower of body slides. Use manufacturers that don't set absurdly low weight limits requiring scales everywhere. Don't remove Fully 6 (at least not yet)
  10. I would absolutely love that. I rode Flying Dinosaur and Acrobat when I went to Japan last month and both were great, especially the former. Probably my second favourite coaster aside from Hakugei I've written If they did build one the operations better not be as bad as Acrobat. With that the same people operating the ride were also loading the ride and you couldn't even enter the locker room that was before the boarding gates until everyone on the previous cycle had gotten their stuff and left. Combined with 1 train operations with dual loading platforms exactly like Flying Dinosaur (which was running 4 trains) that means it was already running at 25% of its capacity, not to mention the slow boarding times. Meanwhile Hakugei and Steel Dragon 2000 had a station set up for two trains and were running two trains. Steel Dragon 2000 was - fine, a bit slow but could be worse, Hakugei had a locker system like Flying Dinosaur where you put your belongings inside a lockers before going up to the loading platform, although you had a key connected to a wristband instead of a QR code that you put inside your pocket which I found a lot better. Ops weren't as fast as Universal but better than most other rides at the park. For both they let you into the station before riders from the previous train had left unlike Acrobat with 1 train ops and the bad procedures. Acrobat literally had the worst operations I've seen, and that's coming from a park with not-so-good operations (especially the Arrow Corkscrew and the two Scwarzkopfs, but they aren't as bad as Acrobat)
  11. Use the old Thunderbolt plot for a WWW expansion with a lazy river and a couple more slide towers. As Wikiverse said, Rocky Hollow needs to be replaced with a new water dark ride, Motorcoaster to be an expansion of Rivertown. The Gold Coaster to be replaced with a custom Flying coaster, imagine weaving in and out of WWW on a flying coaster? Would be an awesome experience.
  12. Dreamworld is still lacking a dark ride, a water ride, a second major thrill coaster, a second inverting thrill ride and an adults-only space like a bar. They're also lacking shows - especially shows that aren't for little kids. Most importantly a second themed land. Rivertown is it. Goldrush, Rocky Hollow and Ocean parade used to be themed lands (even if they got a bit crap toward the end), and Ocean Parade is currently a dead end with a Big Brother set. Dreamworld needs to replace Rocky Hollow with a new water ride. They need to fix ocean parade from the Wipeout plot around to Kevil Hill and completely remove Gold Coaster - which is a janky painful experience - and tightly integrate a new internal entrance to WWW - maybe using the land to weave coasters and slides together. DW doesn't need to 'replace what was lost' because they also lost the chair-lift, the paddle steamer, the Tiger Island presentation, Thunderbolt, and ToT. They need to build out new themed lands and have a good balance of attractions for kids, families and thrill seekers. They also need to remove Motocoaster and Gold Coaster - which is honestly more of an opportunity than a loss - They don't need direct replacements, but a second family coaster, and a second thrill coaster are definitely things they'll need.
  13. A Key attraction for dreamworld should come from finally sorting out the dead end at Ocean Parade and adding a more traditional style of dark ride that takes over the whole area of Trolls and Kevil Hill for the queue and station and expands out onto a good part of the western end of Thunderbolts plot for the main ride building. The rest of Thunderbolts plot not taken over by the dark ride should be used for WWW and include some form of a Lazy river by TOH that has been the plan since Phase 3 and a larger raft slide for the whole family akin to Mammoth falls that takes over the Shell (If it isn't used enough to justify keeping it standing) and goes out onto the eastern part of Thunderbolts plot with more of a winding layout to set it apart from Mammoth Falls. These ideas do feel like a bit of a pipe dream in terms of everything else DW needs to fix up or restore but would really help with adding a true expansion at the park that doesn't result in ride closure and fill the gaps these parks have been left with since 2020 at dreamworld and ever since WWW's opening respectively.
  14. Dapto mentioned in another exhilarating conversation about getting WWW open, the need for DW to keep the foot on the accelerator because more work is necessary. “I still think the dry park is short a few key attractions, given how many were gutted from the park in the last 10 years, in reality they have added Sky Voyager, Taipan, Jungle Rush and Flyer, refurbished the vintage cars and upgraded the claw. Does that make up for the loss of TRRR, Buzzsaw, Rocky Hollow, Wipeout and technically Eureka? I'd say it's pretty close - so maybe they are ready to start work on WWW after all?” What key attraction is Dreamworld still lacking? What new attractions does WhiteWater World require to get the turnstiles turning on more days of the year?
  15. Yesterday
  16. i’d say they just don’t want to give away Scooby’s opening date, with Flash and Superman i think that’s more of a “we’ll see if the problem is resolved in time” thing.
  17. Park still closed = don't agree with you. We have both been in agreement that WWW needs sprucing up and refreshing, the only difference has been the timing. If they are starting to turn their minds towards WWW, perhaps they are pleased with the progress of the dry park. I still think the dry park is short a few key attractions, given how many were gutted from the park in the last 10 years, in reality they have added Sky Voyager, Taipan, Jungle Rush and Flyer, refurbished the vintage cars and upgraded the claw. Does that make up for the loss of TRRR, Buzzsaw, Rocky Hollow, Wipeout and technically Eureka? I'd say it's pretty close - so maybe they are ready to start work on WWW after all?
  18. This is a family event... Scoobys nostalgic. The typical family visit for the shows, entertainment and parade, while they're at it might as well take the whole family on Scooby.
  19. Which always confused me - people riding a dark ride during a night event makes zero sense.
  20. Or it will be open during the event, but they don’t want to yet give away when it’s reopening. If Scooby is open during the event, that will essentially be all you’ll have time to do because I’m sure the queue will be very very long.
  21. Either points to Scooby being a post-WC opening, or they just don't want to commit at this point and it "may" be open depending on how testing and commissioning goes in the next 6 weeks
  22. White Christmas 2025 tickets are now on sale! This years event is mostly the same however the WoZ precinct is open at night! Superman Escape, Flash Speed Force and Scooby are missing from the ride lineup. With all these new rides open is 3 hrs really enough time to experience everything?
  23. Thank you. @DaptoFunlandGuyand I are best friends now and tomorrow we are going on our first date. All these years of fighting and it turned out @DaptoFunlandGuyhad a secret crush on me.
  24. @DaptoFunlandGuy DW have started taken steps on improving WWW, so I think they do agree with me.
  25. *yawn* Every single person breathing on this planet has financially benefited from the destruction of natural habitat, and the death of animals/plants/species/ecosystems. Anyway, we clearly have differing viewpoints and thats totally fine with me. Unlike what seems like many people on this forum, i actually don't come here to spar with people - i'm here because i enjoy talking about theme parks with other like minded people. Yours or anyone's environmental/political/philosophical ideas and ideals are not relevant to me, nor do i have any interest in debating them or trying to persuade you to change them. I am glad however that you and @New display name have been able to find commonality on an issue - if I've achieved one thing, it's getting you two on the same page, even if it was in opposition to me, seems we are all winners. Think it's best i simply stick to posting the published reports regarding this development moving forward and avoid providing any personal thoughts on the matter. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Environmental groups have slammed the state government's decision to fast-track Dreamworld's expansion, warning it threatens the Gold Coast's most significant koala population. The state government is being accused of sacrificing the Gold Coast’s most significant koala population for development, by removing green tape to fast track the Dreamworld project. Environmental campaigners GECKO and a Coomera group along with the Queensland Conversation Council are calling for the project to have an independent federal assessment. Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie, on Tuesday, after a previous request by the Gold Coast City Council, announced he would use rare powers to “call in” the project. He said the decision “highlighted the significance of the proposal for Queensland’s long-term housing and tourism priorities”. However, in his earlier call-in notice to council, he admitted there were significant environmental matters with Dreamworld planning to remove 42,285sq m of koala habitat. Queensland Conservation Council director Dave Copeman said the decision ignores a Koala Conservation Strategy and undermines years of community advocacy for stronger habitat. “This call-in silences the community and fast-tracks a highly controversial private development that should be subject to independent and transparent scrutiny,” he said. “Queenslanders expect the planning system to protect nature and uphold due process, not to be overridden for commercial convenience.” The environmental groups want the development application to be referred for federal assessment under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act. They asked the government to release all documentation underpinning the call-in decision. Coomera Conservation Group’s Karina Waterman said the usual environmental assessment process which allowed for scrutiny, transparency, and public input has been bypassed. “By taking this path, the project can now avoid full environmental oversight, and with rights to object or appeal removed, our community has effectively been silenced,” she said. “Most concerning is that this project would clear known koala habitat, in an area where our remaining wild koalas are already fighting to survive. “Northern Gold Coast koalas are now confined to shrinking patches of bushland, boxed in by roads, fences, and housing estates. Every corridor that connects them matters. “Our community has worked tirelessly for years to protect local koalas and green corridors. We will continue to speak up — because our koalas cannot.” GECKO environment council’s campaign co-ordinator Sara Hicks warned that clearing would fast track extinction for Coomera koalas. “With the cumulative local impacts, clearing habitat on this site – ironically to expand a commercial tourism operation — would be catastrophic for local koalas,” she said. “This call-in ‘fast track’ bypasses due process and negates the government’s own regulations intended to protect threatened species.” In its development application to council, before the call-in, Dreamworld included a koala management plan which includes having spotters on site. An ecological report prepared by the theme park’s town planners showed there were 68 records of koalas living within two kilometres of the Coomera property. Assessment of 39 trees at the site found nine had scratching on their canopies along with evidence on the ground of koala scats. “A result of the proposed development is the threat of potential impact and risk to koala that may arise or be temporarily intensified,” an ecological report said. “The applicant is highly committed to ensuring these potential threats and risks have minimal impacts on any koala individuals that may be present within the subject site.” About 2724 trees could be removed, resulting in the loss of 37,572 sqm of mapped koala habitat However the Gold Coast’s business community has welcomed the project. Gold Coast North Chamber of Commerce Josephine Kadel said it would be transformative for the fast-growing region. “We welcome progress on the Dreamworld Masterplan and supports a collaborative approach between state and local government to align infrastructure and road upgrades with future growth,” she said. “Co-ordinated planning of this kind ensures new investment translates into lasting benefits — creating jobs, supporting businesses, and strengthening the economic resilience of the northern Gold Coast.” https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/news/gold-coast/northern/dreamworld-future-of-gold-coast-theme-parks-expansion-plans/news-story/54db918c8f73b02f63d0cc2c7b165c0b
