  1. Past hour
  2. Green Lantern was testing quite frequently this afternoon with it not meant to reopen until September 19th, i wonder if it will be reopening early due to the issues with Flash and Superman.
  3. They realised that it would improve the guest experience and they didn't want to break their current streak of "that will do".
  4. Today
  5. Hopefully if true they re-do it from scratch and make a completely new one but knowing Village nowadays they will make it even cheaper than HWS2 to cut costs and reuse the same set being used since 2008. I would love a Mad Max stunt show: it's Australian, you don't need to perform much upkeep given everything is rusty and abandoned and it's the perfect theme for a stunt show.
  6. With all the great Action IP Warner Bros own and would make a great stunt show, seeing that huge area wasted on a boring and corny drifting show is a big disappointment.
  7. Technically we had Shrek 4D from 2005 to 2010 at Movie World, although I believe DreamWorks (pre-Universal) owned the rights rather than Universal and it was just licensed to them unlike most rides
  8. I’d assume it will be a new arena stunt show (at least that’s what I hope it is because HSD2 sucks)
  9. Movie World has just put up a post on their Socials teasing 3 new upcoming announcements with the taglines: * Serving Soon * Spooking Soon *New Action soon first two are pretty obvious as to what those will be announcing if you’ve been following rumours but the third is a complete mystery as of now. Curious to see what people think it is.
  10. Can’t say it won’t happen, but it won’t happen. An IP like Harry Potter requires a tonne of amazing theming, our parks just can’t keep up with that. Just my opinion, but look at OZ, beautiful big plain green walls with amazing prison guard fencing
  11. If only Village Roadshow & Warner Bros could make a deal with Universal & Blumhouse. Because well how many would have wanted Five Nights at Freddy’s in Fright Nights?
  12. I know this won’t happen, but since Universal gotten the theme park rights to Harry Potter via a deal with Warner Bros. If Village Roadshow and Warner Bros made a same exact deal with Universal to bring one of their IPs to Warner Bros Movie World which one would it be? For me it would be either Universal Monsters via Darkmoor with Monsters Unchained & Curse of the Werewolf or How to Train Your Dragon Isle of Berk with its coaster, show, and other attractions. Note: I tried to make a poll, but I keep getting errors.
  13. Only 3 of those were true, No Superman locker refurbishment done, DC Rivals still only 3/4 painted, and Oz, yes only 2 coasters (ones a duelling coaster that doesn’t duel) and as for the immersive theming? Yeah nah
  14. So, this has been memory-holed at this point, but what ever happened to the refurb of the Superman station and the removal of the locker system that MW announced last year?
  15. I wouldn't be talking about it if I hadn't seen the plans. @DaptoFunlandGuyconsidering the amount of people who go to the Ekka with special needs, one would think, they were on top of. 😢
  16. The current stable arrangements are untenable, and unsafe. I've had animals in these facilities and the upgrades are overdue. Moving animals into the arena via the current vomatorium is alsodangerous as it is a major thoroughfare for crowds moving from gregory terrace to access the train, the parking station and the precinct on the north side of the arena. The multi-storey stables are part of the arena upgrade to machinery hill, which means arena animals can be kept within the arena envelope and not have to shut down accessways \ block patrons in the middle of the event. While we're on the topic of arena upgrades - the current disability access is fucking woeful - something that has long been fobbed off on the basis of legacy or historic excuses, while the RNA sold off parcels of land for development without bringing its main facilities up to modern standards. These changes are also well overdue and about fucking time. Look, I personally like the idea of building a new purpose built venue like they did in Sydney. The main issue with that is that many of the facilities the RNA has here are heritage listed - so even if you move RNA to a new home, you can't do much with the heritage buildings that remain. QGOV has committed to keeping the Ekka here and they've committed to upgrading it, so its a done deal. They're going to make more efficient use of the north eastern facilities around the arena, which allows them to condense some older facilities that are no longer suitable and turn those old facilities into housing, which - in case anyone hasn't been paying attention - is sorely needed across the country. It's not the outcome I would have preferred, but it all makes sense.
  17. You’re welcome to look at the plans if you have that much interest in it.
  18. Yesterday
  19. Don't you mean more land will disappear to make way for the the athletes village and horses will now be housed in a 3 storey pavilion to go along with the 3 storey carpark to see the livestock.
  20. I think what you meant to say is that they’ll shoot themselves in the foot if they take the Village Roadshow approach
  21. Agreed! When this reopens it needs to have maximum operators to pump through the queue because the park will be getting very busy when it does reopen. And if the park was smart, they will give a reopening date at least one month beforehand because they should realise that people will travel to ride this again and they’ll shoot themselves in the foot if they take the Wizard of Oz approach.
  22. The RNA did this to their own grounds. The Ekka deserves its fate.
  23. Not necessarily. This isn't a refurb. this is an entirely new ride. There's no guarantees it commences testing and they have problems. I'd suggest until Mack hands over to the park they're staying quiet. Once it's handed over, they'll start shouting it loudly - and in the meantime it can have a few weeks of technical rehearsals prior to an official opening to train staff without setting guest expectations too high. At least I hope that's what they do and not have a grand opening on boxing day with minimal staff trained and a line going back to WWF...
  24. If it was opening September school holidays they would already be promoting it to get the intestate bookings flooding in.
  25. The Brisbane RNA show grounds is being entirely refit and developed for the 2032 Olympics and creating a legacy home for the EKKA was a big part of the promotion around the location choice, there was even models and a stand at the EKKA this year showing what the new facilities will look like, so the EKKA isn’t going anywhere anytime in the next 50 years.
