  1. Past hour
  2. Doomsday Destroyer is the perfect example of a 360 swinging attraction that sucked (partly because it wasn’t unpowered)
  3. Today
  4. Uhhh... I think he said that he leaves the Luna Park pendulum ride until the end of the day because once he's ridden it, he can't ride anything else. I mean, i think you guys are missing the distinction between powered 360 pendulum rides and unpowered swing rides like the looping starship, where the drive system is only at the bottom of the swing. I'm not advocating for an SX360 or Sledgehammer experience. I'm just saying there are SOME 360 attractions (most of which you guys are probably too young to have ridden) that DO deliver airtime float. I'm not saying King Claw isn't going to be as good, or better than that - i'm just saying not every 360 pendulum style attraction sucks.
  5. They're the intamin over the shoulder lap bars, the exact same ones you find on Big Dipper and Goliath if you've been on either of those rides
  6. I think the normal Gyro will be way better than the 360 one I think King Claw will feel more forceful and have more airtime than a 360 one and going upside down isn't anything special it would just make you🤢🤮. Cant remeber if this has ben mentioned or not but does anyone know if the restraints will be over the shoulder or lap bars. Hoping for lap bars.
  7. Out of no where, USJ has just opened a replacement for Backdraft. Unfortunately it’s just a replica of the Villain-Con Minion Blast that can be found at Universal Florida (which I haven’t read or seen good things about). It’s great they’ve added a good crowd soaker attraction, but my initial reaction is it’s a shame it’s this (especially when Backdraft was so good).
  8. Shortly followed by a half finished Scooby Doo 2 days later. Don't think it is unpopular tbh the one at Luna Park I have to last and them I'm don't for the day and can't go on anything else.
  9. potentially unpopular opinion but the standard gyro swings are so much better then the 360 ones. i’d much rather airtime over uncomfortable hang time.
  10. a 360 swing under power, yes, but i'd still be happy with an unpowered 360 like the looping starships any day of the week over the pendulum. you still get airtime on the drops, and that upside down hangtime is *chefs kiss* - but like my earlier comment - very polarising to half your guests...
  11. Yesterday
  12. Gazza is spot on. Airtime over loops any day of the week. You 360 these rides and you remove the best part of the ride.
  13. Also if it doesn't go upside down, it means you get airtime at the top of the swing. It's the flat ride equivalent of this versus this:
  14. I’m glad it doesn’t complete a full invert because I don’t think the park needs a ride that does that. It has Seprent Slayer and Tailspin as their inverting rides. King Claw will have enough speed and forces that inverting would probably be too much for most guests and would make the investment not worth while. I don’t know if this is currently the case, but I’m fairly sure Luna Parks model was having issues and couldn’t do the inversion for some time???
  15. I think the idea that 'it goes upside down' is quite polarising, and is where a lot of people draw the line on riding. Claw was popular enough over 20 years, this is the upgrade they needed to keep it going. I don't think it needs 360 to sell it - the sheer size comparison to Claw will be enough I think.
  16. Fair enough, I'll eat crow and admit that yeah that looks crazy big, shame it won't go 360 as that'd be another selling point about why its better than the previous claw but I guess this ride type is unable to go 360 like the one at Luna Park.
  17. in the park the ride looks massive, it’s very noticeable the size difference in person and it’s going to make one hell of a ride. i’d say they’re aiming for a September holiday opening.
  18. Last week
  19. @Cactus_Matt even with the angles not being the same, you can clearly see the ride is much taller. And no it won’t go 360 degrees.
  20. NOT to be a downer, but I don't know how those previous pictures from old Claw and new Claw give any impression of how tall this ride will be because angles bias and all that shit. Also will this "new Claw" go 360 degrees? Just asking...
  21. It soaks people and improves experience but no one’s buying a new pass or revisiting to ride the train . Different project otherwise the current builder would have been fired by now for non completion . They likely have missing items like the waterfall to finalise when ride goes under maintenance and defects but that’s all.
  22. These photos from @Theme Park Girl show how it’s being installed and what it’s connecting too
  23. I’m fairly certain that this is the new fencing to fence in the Rivertown railway section when it’s complete. If so It’s gonna look great once it’s installed and the train is running through Rivertown!
  24. The Claw to King Claw similarities stop at the drive system. King Claw's motor, attaches from the outside.
  25. I would have thought the motor would be in place before the swing arm was lifted?
  26. Now you're just talking about all the timber fencing already installed throughout RT @DaptoFunlandGuy. Pendulum going up. Can't be much longer to the motor is lifted up.
