  2. I used to think that the best option for motocoaster would be a re-theme, but my opinion has shifted firmly to outright removal. The cost of new trains and new theming would be so high that it would be better to sell the nearly 20 year old ride and put all of that money toward a better ride(s) in that area. A better ride with immersive theming will have a better ROI, even if it costs more. Rivertown sold passes and draws pass-holders back. King Claw will sell passes. Putting lipstick on the motocoaster pig is a lot of money for a 'boring' filler ride. It won't sell day passes or annual passes and the ride will likely need replacing within the next 5-10 years anyway.

  4. I think Dreamworld needs another major thrill coaster, maybe something more airtime focused. I don't know much longer they can keep Gold Coaster going for, but after Steel Taipan, there really isn't much else on the coaster side. I would love to see an RMC personally. But really anything I would be happy about. I don't think they should remove moto coaster completely, as much as it's a bit awkward. I think they should just retheme the ride completely, renovate the station, non-prototype trains (regular bike ones), and just make it a lot prettier. Sure it will be a boring coaster, but it will be comfortable, and not everyone who is slightly larger will be turned away. That's really all that I think needs to be done immediately. I think the family's already have so much to do at the park, that I think they can focus on more thrilling attractions.
  5. In that scenario the building would be relocated next to the double helix and lift hill - Dreamworld have a bit more space to move things around than Village, and a positive for logistics is it would be a bit closer to the park than it is now. All part of my imagination though and it won't happen as much as I would like it to. I do feel, as I said above - a smaller, less expensive thrill coaster would work there, potentially also using some of the Gold Coaster plot and station if it gets too expensive to maintain.
  6. Cairns is close to Townsville like Bundaberg is close to Brisbane... it isn't. The tropical northern waters contain both stingers and crocs - neither of which are a good idea. The population within a 1 hour drive of greater melbourne (which is about the distance between Melbourne and Adventure Park or Melbourne and Gumbuya World) is over 5 million people - so give or take, around 1.6Million people per park as a conservative estimate. Cairns and Townsville's regional (within 1 hour) population is around 200,000. Tourism is likely to give this a little bump, but it is still way short of the numbers you've got around Melbourne. Bold to face the wavepool away from everything else instead of putting the pump and machinery against a boundary. Makes maintenance harder and means folk have to walk around the entire wavepool to get to literally anything else.

  8. Sir - Bravo. This is such a well put together plan, makes use of existing facilities well, but removes those where impractical. I love the entire concept. I would like to see Dreamworld do all of this save for two things: Relocating the shell is probably not viable. If you need to move it - just remove it. Consider a new picnic \ shaded seating area in the new zone, but don't restrict yourself to rebuilding the same thing you already had (and probably don't want to relocate it anyway - it looks pretty tired) BB House - it can't go there. The proximity to Beattie road will be hell for sound recording. It's too close to a public space the production can't control - anyone who pleases to can park outside the house during production and just lay on their horn to make the footage entirely useless. I appreciate you calling it out that it won't happen, but when you're looking at things like this - consider what it is you're removing. The 'BOH building' you're removing is the Dreamworld ride maintenance facility. It's a significant space, and you'd be better off going around it than removing it. You don't need to stick a clone into a space at the cost of everything else - work with the space you've got.

  10. I would love to see a contemporary take on TOT! I can't help but to imagine what a new-get TOT would be like? Even the station building is still there and with todays technology I'd be surprised if it only went straight out and back... I know it would never happen but it is defiantly an interesting idea.
  11. https://www.paramountplus.com/shows/how-did-they-fix-that/ Recently, how do they fix that? a mainly american/canadian based TV show published an episode on Dreamworld, giving insights into park operations, the construction of rivertown and behind the scenes looks!
  12. If only we got a Flying Dinosaur clone, I put the layout from USJ onto here and this shows that not much has to be removed for it, only a BOH building, Gamesite as well as the Trolls area and the Thunderbolt station... In all honestly it won't happen. What I would realistically like to see is the in-park entry from Dreamworld to WWW reopened. What my idea would be is to use the southern end of the Thunderbolt area for a new slide tower, with the northern end (including Trolls) having another, more compact thrill coaster put in. Motocoaster stays but is rethemed to something Rivertown related. I can't really think of anything else. Rivertown, K&BD, Steel Taipan and Giant Drop were done in the past 4 years, so they'd stay put. No point re-doing the Sky Voyager entrance as a new entrance won't entice people to ride if the ride is the exact same, not to mention there would be a thematic clash between the ride and Main Street. Maybe another flat in Ocean Parade or K&BD but that's about it.
  13. IMO and just my 2 cents A high throughput family ride is dreamworld’s number 1 need. I’ve been a fan of a shoot the chutes at dreamworld for ages but a modern flume would also be a good option. Please do not put this in ocean parade when there’s plenty of space on the other end of the park that needs something big to distribute crowds Motocoaster is not leaving it’s more likely that it is rethemed Nebulaz where flowrider is, please and thanks Dreamworld in my view is set for high thrill rides for now and I don’t see them installing another high thrill coaster unless they plan on pulling down Gold coaster in the near future (which they aren’t) Kevil hill/trolls village is off limits until big brother stops using it (whether the show is canned again or production leaves dreamworld) WWW is almost a fully fleshed out park, it just needs a lazy river, thankfully there’s a spot ready for one where they attempted to put one before.
  14. Would love to see dreamworld really focus on their “so many worlds in one.” And just thematic entertainment in general. There’s potential for 7 highly themed worlds and countless shows, parades and character appearances that I think would bring back some nostalgic culture to the park. Whilst also increasing ride and entertainment offerings to appeal to all generations and ages of visitors. This is obviously just my wish list and I understand Dreamworld probably doesn’t have the disposable funds to make it all happen. But over the next 10 years I’m sure most of this could be attainable. Ocean Parade - New water and/or dark ride attraction/s possibly a coaster similar to Storm at SW or a flume, boat ride, tackless ride, etc - A pirate ship flat would work really well in ocean parade imo. Albeit a bit boring none of the GC parks have one - Extensive and consistent theming upgrades in the area - Remove Serpent Slayer (relocate) - Down the track, when the time is right, remove Gold Coaster and replace with a single rail coaster K&Bs Dreamland - Extend the world by using the Serpent Slayer land and adding 1-2 new kid friendly rides - Additional shows for kid/family entertainment Rivertown - Retheme Motocoaster to match the aesthetic of Rivertown. Keep it bike themed (dirt bike? ATV?) but it really needs some new cars, fresh theming and a track to not be painted yellow. Wildlife Experience & Tiger Island - Tiger island with its recent upgrades is probably fine for a while - Wildlife needs to become an attraction in itself rather than feel like you’ve walked into the backlot of a theme park. The once planned Koala Research Centre would be great. Maybe add some additional animal enclosures to get people to actually stop by instead of walking through just to get back to the rides. - Extra experiences or shows in the world, maybe steal some ideas from Outback Spectacular & Paradise Country. Main Street - Bring back the charm of Main Street making it feel like a world of magic and fantasy - Additional roaming characters and entertainment (singing, dancing, parade etc) - ST and GD should not be included as part of Main Street Outback Country (Modern take on Gold Rush/Rocky Hollow) - Connect ST and GD via a path for this new world. Theme it to the Australian outback. ST and GD already would fit in with this theme. (Snake and oil drilling) - New queue line for the GD, remove all the unnecessary stairs and ramps they currently have that essentially lead no where. - New high thrill *australia first* roller coaster. B&M would be a dream manufacturer but I’ll take anything that can compete more closely with DC Rivals. - Move Serpent Slayer to this land and retheme possibly to an insect? (6 gondolas?) - Create an 18+ F&B outlet, possibly something with an outback pub kinda vibe? Best place would be to put it near several of the top thrill rides. Even if it’s not 18+ just somewhere to get a decent drink for the adults would be nice. Doing all of this would only create 5 new attractions, 2 being kids, 2 being family and 1 being thrill. Also future proofs the inevitable retirement of GC. But with the relocation of SS and new paths between ST and GD it would really zone out all “worlds” nicely. If the park builds the koala research centre, adds some new shows, reintroduce the parade whilst also keeping an eye on detail and theming I think absolutely every guest of every age going to the park would benefit.
  15. I’d forgotten this was actually happening. I hope it is finished for the summer holidays, would love to give it a run on the way down to or back from Sydney
  16. I guess that comes down to $$$$ channel 10 and the production company realistically won’t make a call on longevity until ratings for the first 3-4 weeks of this season are in. If a return to its previous format brings viewers back, I can see it getting a multi-season deal which could see the DEC taken over semi-permanently (the “house” may remain year round with walk-thru available to guests in non production periods) or they may move to build a more permanent house elsewhere on the site. If the money thrown at the them by the production company outweighs what they make from a functional events centre, they’d be silly not to accept it as it’s guaranteed revenue - what that would mean for the future of trolls village/kevil etc which I believe are being used in some capacity is yet to be seen
  17. DW should not be factoring Big Brother into any of their plans. This current series starts in Nov and ends in Dec. It's only going to be a 4-5 week run and the 'house' set will be gone before Xmas. DW need to focus on their own core business of theme park experiences and putting in fully immersive, themed lands. BB might bring in some short-term cash so I don't hate them doing it, but if they want to have a TV production precinct (not a terrible idea) it should be on the North end of the park as part of their rezoning/development plans, and should be designed for many different shows so it can operate year round.
  18. Don't say that too loud or they will shut another ride down for 2 years.
  19. I've been working on this for a while and this topic seems like the best time to share it. I've put together a bit of a wish list mock-up masterplan for Ocean Parade and the Thunderbolt plot. Ocean Parade: Bring the water back to Ocean Parade, start with running the bulldozer through Trolls Village and Thunderbolt's station. The space could be opened up to make room for a new battle boat attraction, theming it around fishing trawlers with a twist of fantasy - Imagine Kind Claw's tentacles rising from the depths, interacting with the boats. One of the trawlers could be suspended mid-air by a tentacle. The ride station is the newly advertised "K&B Brown Ocean Parade Boatworks" teased on the wall beside King Claw. This attraction would set itself apart from the Battle Boats at SW by incorporating themed rockwork tunnels, show scenes and a unique immersive experience. While we're at it, put some tentacles breaking out of the ground down near SS and the dodgems, I think this would be a great way to finally give Ocean parade a cohesive tie from one end to the other. King Claw has arrived and is wreaking havoc through throughout the area. The area would also get a wharf theme (think the original Pacific Wharf at Disneyland or Mooloolaba Wharf for something more basic), with an accessible kids dry boat-themed playground (similar to the former SS Feathersword in Wiggles World) between the battle boat harbour and Gold Coaster's entry. The Kevil facade would be retained and repainted to resemble a fishmonger's loading dock, acting as the entry to a new hero attraction: a dark ride themed to the ocean depths. I'd love to see a river ride return to the coast or a trackless dark ride here with show scenes that bring guests on a journey through the underwater world, potentially with inspiration from Jora Vision's concept work for VinWonder: Various facades that suit the wharf village theme line the park border and create a backdrop for the battle boat attraction. The boardwalk leads to the dark ride exit store which also acts as the internal gate between DW and WWW. WWW: Adjacent to the new internal gate, a sorely needed F&B outlet overlooks the new WWW expansion. This is themed as a tiki bar that draws on old-school Australiana (Tangaroa Terrace meets Banana Bender Pub). A purpose-built BB house on the southern side of the property returns the DEC to dreamworld for year-round use. The mock-up shows the original BB house to scale complete with internal yard. Direct entry to the house from both parks for production as well as post-season tours. The DEC will become the live show auditorium for subsequent seasons. BB Production facilities are all back-of-house. The Shell is to be relocated to the Eastern side of the Thunderbolt site to allow for a new slide tower featuring a Boomerango, Tailspin+Rattler Fusion as well as a family raft slide. The mock-up features the Boomerango/Tailspin+Rattler compact layout to scale from Aqualantis and Gumbuya World. The main expansion to WWW will see the long-awaited lazy river. The mock-up uses a scaled replica of the lazy river from Four Seasons Orlando Resort which features lush greenery and theming. This will be WWW's answer to Murrisippi Motors - rockwork, animals, lighting for night events, waterfalls and bridges across the river to secluded grassed areas and seating throughout the area. I believe if the theming is well done, this will blow Calypso Beach out of the water (pun intended). The area is a huge people eater and once gardens have grown in it will provide a great chill-out area to get out of the sun. Back of house: The shed located to the east of the Thunderbolt plot will need to be relocated behind Kevil and some realignment of the BOH roads is required; however the majority of the back of house facilities will remain unchanged.
  20. I'm honestly surprised a large scale waterpark hasn't been built up in Far North Queensland yet. It seems like the perfect place: very humid and hot sometimes and it would be a perfect place to cool down. I haven't been to Townsville but I have been to Cairns which is somewhat close. There is a Lagoon in the CBD but I believe it's not recommended to swim in the beaches there compared to somewhere like the Gold Coast. Lots of tourists go to Cairns and Townsville especially from colder states like Victoria so I feel it would be great to have one there to cool off one day. In comparison down here in Victoria we have 3 (Funfields, Adventure Park, Gumbuya) whilst Far North Queensland has nothing.
  21. Was in Coffs Harbour for work and decided to stop by the Big Banana to see the progress of the Plantation Coaster! It’s looking very good and I think it has a good chance of being open by Christmas. This will be the 2nd Alpine Coaster installation in Australia and it will be the most accessible given that the other one is located at Thredbo on the ski fields of NSW. This one should be a great ride but it does appear to be a little short. The installation appears to have 2 lift hills. I thought that originally it was meant to loop behind the water park and back around but it’s actually very compact. It will certainly give a great reason to stop at Coffs Harbour and I think it will be a great success for the park when it opens! Hopefully this gives other Aussie parks the impetus to consider installing one of these as part of their lineup- Jamberoo/Funfields I am looking at you!

The site is here, looks like whitewater west job, with a wall runner family raft slide, aqua play, 180 degree flowrider, wave pool and all your usual body and raft slides.
  23. I don't really have time to dig through the proposal, but is CEH wanting to develop the land themselves or sell the land for development? I know they're just requesting re-zoning and this isn't a solid development plan. If it's the former, I would hope they've considered things like future expansion of the park (even just the wildlife park) or a potential second-gate, given there is likely to be a boost in tourism around the Olympics (possibly sustained if it's as successful as Sydney). This is definitely a 10-15 year outlook, but presumably the park will still be around then. If it's the latter, I would be concerned that will crimp the long-term value of the park if they ever want to sell to a bigger player that would want to consider expansion. They're deliberately land-locking themselves further beyond the previous land sale. I also am not sure that a 'down-town' precinct is really going to be that popular given Westfield exists across the road. Also, any residential properties are just going to create noise complaints, so you just end up with a gimped entertainment precinct, and crappy residential areas that are noisy and have crap parking. It's just my opinion but I think that CEH are doing good things at the moment and should be preserving land or developing land in line with their core tourism/entertainment business and I'm not sure if this rezoning plan really does that.
  24. oh for sure - not advocating that at all - you'll get 18 months of increased popularity just because it has finally returned - just talking into the future. all we were discussing is that it wasn't on the original attractions list, and only added later when one of the other attractions was removed.
  25. For WWW I want to see them get a lazy river, ProSlide’s TornadoWAVE, a Proslide Mammoth and another tower of body slides. I think those would really complete their lineup and add something for everyone. For DW, a high thrill lift hill coaster on the rocky hollow site, an Intamin or Mack water based attraction to replace Motocoaster (tied into Rivertown theme), and a couple rides to fill in the void/mess of the back of Ocean Parade.
  26. I wish I could get back all the brain cells I lost reading this utterly pointless back and forth but alas, no. 'Tis the folly of this purgatory-like website...
  27. There was certainty no lighting package on WWF at FNs. The entire outdoor area was in complete darkness, only light was that coming from the moon and some glow from the park itself
