Dreamworld - Something big is coming
Vidgamer replied to DaptoFunlandGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
When I drove past Dreamworld the other day it looked like they had put new fencing in where the Monster Truck Show was, on the border outside Coomera State School. I wonder if perhaps they will put the house in that spot, then utilise the Exhibition Centre for live crosses?- 88 replies

Dreamworld - Something big is coming

Big Brother is officially returning to its spiritual home, with a brand-new house set to rise from the ashes at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast. In an exclusive reveal producers confirmed the 2025 reboot of the iconic reality juggernaut will be filmed at the very site that made the franchise a cultural phenomenon more than two decades ago. After months of speculation and calls from diehard fans for a nostalgic full-circle moment, production company Endemol Shine has locked in Dreamworld as the official location for the show’s revival — complete with a purpose-built house. “The demand for a reboot of the original format has been deafening, and we have listened,” SVP of Content at Paramount Australia Daniel Monaghan said, promising the reboot will honour the raw, unscripted spirit of the original series. “With a brand-new house built on familiar ground, this season will be centred on real people with real stories, talking in real-time.” Fronting the revival is The Cheap Seats star and Nova radio host Mel Tracina, who described the hosting gig as a “pinch-me moment”. “I’d love to be able to recall the exact moment I got the call but my brain stopped braining from excitement,” she said. “I was simultaneously trying not to squeal into the phone and pass out at the same time.” Tracina, who watched the show’s very first season as a teenager, said: “The Big Brother house is synonymous with Dreamworld, so bringing the OG format to its OG location feels right. We’re excited to be home (and in a new house that hopefully comes with an air fryer).” “I was excited when Queensland was confirmed as the location because I knew fans of the show would be wrapped. Personally, I’m also happy because I’m a Melburnian who has Jon Snow’d through winter so I cannot wait to swap my MacPac for Havaianas.” Dreamworld CEO Greg Yong said: “We’re beyond thrilled to welcome Big Brother back home to Dreamworld. This iconic show holds a special place in our story and in the hearts of millions of Australians.” Supported by the Queensland Government through Screen Queensland’s Production Attraction Strategy, the production will employ 95 local crew members and offer four paid attachment positions. Casting is now open at bigbrothercasting.com.au. The new season will air later this year on 10. https://www.couriermail.com.au/entertainment/big-brother-returns-to-dreamworld-on-the-gold-coast/news-story/385a067b4ef357c443176eae58a1980c- 88 replies

Wild West Falls was scheduled to open Today but since Friday has been placed under Unplanned Maintenance with no end date. Hoping it still isn’t under maintenance for long.

i’m leaning more towards it being about the resort they’re wanting to build, i think it’s too long to tease big brother.- 88 replies

Yep I think it’s almost a guarantee, maybe they can’t announce yet until 10 Network does for obvious reasons. Spewing was hoping we got a Giga coaster…..- 88 replies

Dreamworld just posted this and said they haven’t forgotten about the big announcement And maybe this is a coincidence, but Big Brother just posted this at the exact same time Considering DWs original posts about the big announcement had the same glitchy effect, I think it’s almost safe to say it’s this- 88 replies

Wasn't when I posted, but glad the website is live with dates now.
-
Yeah the formal date calendar usually goes live when tickets do, but we've almost always known the dates prior to tickets going on sale - maybe this is just their idea of getting ahead of the supersleuths \ having literally 'something' to announce... Last year started with a casting call on 19 July which only revealed the dates of the event. The website was updated on 8 August, but the first pricing \ ticket sale post was august 14th. In 2023, dates were confirmed August 2nd - again from a casting call - with pricing available around then also. Tickets weren't available until a week later on August 9th... In 2022, they had a 'pre-announcement' with website updates around August 11th, and we had confirmation of dates on August 12th, with tickets not on sale until August 22nd.
-
I think there’s been announcements in July before, but generally tickets have gone on sale alongside the date announcement.
-
Website is live and has an interesting glitch when it loads. Is this the first year they officially announce dates this early and before tickets go on sale? Big win to us interstate visitors to book flights and accommodation earlier! 🙌
-
IMHO, purely dates didn’t need a teaser announcement. Website isn’t even live yet/literally just dates.

Just date announcements

Agreed, tonight I’m just expecting date announcement and ticket sales and maybe a hint at the theme for this years event
-
Just hoping for at least 3 new mazes considering we had no new mazes last year. I think the likelihood of not everything being announced tonight and gradually releasing mazes is high considering how they have done it previously.
-
Just as likely it isn't an announcement at all and it's just the website going live, with a bunch of things locked out for later reveals.
-
Hopefully nothing like DW's announcement. 🤪

Maintenance teams can only be within the ride envelope if the ride is locked down, so therefore anything track related be that inspections, maintenance, upkeep etc cannot occur with the ride operational in any way. track maintenance isn’t going to happen under the cover of dark from a logistics, costing and operational standpoint, and the maintenance and ride tech crew have enough to do in the morning hours with pre-opening checks to do any arduous maintenance. It’s off peak season, now is the time to close the ride and get what needs to be done, done

Sammus77 started following Movie World Maintenance Schedule 2025
-
I was there today, and there were two men working on the spike of the orange track. One harnessed and sitting on top, and one hanging underneath. They were slowly making their way higher up the spike. I guess that’s why neither side is operating given they’re working within the ride area. Also one of the KT trains was half out of the station and the front car was disconnected from the rest of the train. Never seen something like that before!

Movie World Maintenance Schedule 2025
Themepark Enthusist replied to TV15's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I find it strange that KT has scheduled maintenance this early, it has two tracks, two trains so I wonder why they are not just doing maintenance on one side and still operating the other side? I would like to think if there is track maintenance they need to do they couldn't do it in the evening or morning time so they don't need to touch it while in day operation and for the train maintenance they could just remove the train from the track? I feel one day shut down is better than 3 months? -
Movie World have teased that they’ll be making a Fright Nights announcement tomorrow night.
