  1. I would say that early Movie World (early 90’s to the early 2000’s) was a lot closer to Universal’s standard then what we have today. I think the shift to focusing on adding thrill rides and less about theming and immersion has cheapened the experience (even though we have more attractions now than we did back them). Still, I wouldn’t call it a “regional park”, but I’d say it’s teetering on the edge of being one in its current state. It will be interesting to see what happens after WOO opens. If the area is finished off to the high standard they’ve been promising and is as well themed as the concept art, it could improve the overall image of the park and increase its international appeal. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

  2. DCR is literally basically the very top of every enthusiasts bucket list.

  3. Something that can be noted is that Movie World was "good enough" to inspire other parks to make attractions similar to the ones here. For example: Gremlins Adventure was also made at Movie Park Germany Main Street at Movie Park Germany is based off Main Street here Looney Tunes River Ride was recreated at Movie Park Germany Batman Adventure The Ride was recreated at Movie Park Germany/Parque Warner Madrid Police Academy Stunt Show was recreated at Six Flags Magic Mountain/Movie Park Germany/Parque Warner Madrid Wild Wild West was recreated as Rio Bravo at Parque Warner Madrid Movie Park Germany/Parque Warner Madrid were originally named Warner Bros. Movie World So other parks around the world must have taken note of us. Yes I know they don't now but it shows how we can be spotted on the international map, even know not as much as Disney/Universal.

  4. Yeah I think old movieworld was better quality but no body is coming out from other countries to see what it had to offer. Because you wouldn’t be able to see what it had until you were at the park . Though I do miss when MW, SW and DW all felt super unique from each other. They have all kinda morphed into similar experiences in some ways. Once WoO is in. movieworld basically has no space left. I wonder what is going to happen then. Either years and years till anything gets added or something will get the axe

  5. Thematically a 360 could make sense. Considering the theme is Jeeps, i'd expect an oh shit lets turn around moment, and it just 180's and spits you out still going forward.

  6. I would argue our parks have no international appeal, and that anyone who travels for them is a rounding error. I'm not sure that many people travel from all over Australia to visit SW/MW/DW, I think the 'theme parks' as a collective is pretty compelling as a domestic destination. You can split hairs till the cows come home on wether this makes the individual parks regional or not. I'd say you could call them either regional parks, or destination parks, and in both cases you're right.

  7. I dont really think Sydney Harbor is affected by floods. Reddit story sounds like BS - shockingly

  8. I think this simply translates to The eyes on the front of the train weren’t lit up.

  9. Yes. The parks do well with what they have but there’s nothing on the level of Efteling or Busch Gardens, let alone Disney/Universal.

  10. Sounds like a certain transport ride on the Gold Coast. Hope this doesn’t become a trend for other aging rides in Aus.

  11. They’ve been doing that since at least mid-late December

  12. Wild Mouse is 1962. It returned to the park in 1995 but that doesn't mean it had no life before that; it was a staple of the Easter Show through the 70's and 80's after it was replaced by the Wild Cat. And Gold Coaster is 1994/5. I don't believe this for a second. I don't recall any floods at LPS in recent years. Not to mention the ride is high on a platform; it's hard for things to flood at that height. I'd really put it down to it likely being an old ride that will need more and more maintenance as time goes by and is probably due for a massive upgrade, coupled with a time stretched maintenance crew who are busy having to take care of other rides.

  14. Using the image that @DaptoFunlandGuy posted of the construction site, it should somewhat be oriented like this even more scuffed edit attempts to show, slightly turned counterclockwise from the angle in the photo. As such, it'll almost kinda be turned to face Batwing Spaceshot, which might look a bit weird if they're both painted completely black. That said, maybe a dark blue or purple (not pink like DCR, I mean like a midnight purple) could work, Purple would work for a Bizarro theme, and Blue might work for a Darkseid one (had to google that guy, but I think he's in the Justice League movies so he could be recognizable enough). If they do choose to make it completely black, though, they could theme it to an equally-critically panned movie as Green Lantern was, Black Adam.

  15. I believe it is heritage listed so it's likely they'd have to keep it as a going concern

  16. The loss of LTRR for Jnr Driving School is the biggest stain on our parks imo. Yes I know it would have been costly to refresh and update the animatronics, but it was quintessential MW and that ride truly would have had its place FOREVER if they kept it well maintained.
