  1. I think though that comes down to the potential fall radius from the crane - anything dropped off the tower could theoretically land within the taipan ride envelope while work is underway. Surfrider has like 5 pieces. As they've shown, the entire track can get removed in a single night - so there's really nothing stopping them from putting it up in a night either. If they choose to construct it after hours, then I see no reason why superman has to close for any major length of time. The slab, footers, power and comms are already there. Construction and Commissioning should be fine to do without shutting it down. Heck, they could do testing out of hours too. Bear in mind that the primary reason rumored for this move is to provide additional capacity in a park that is temporarily lacking it - if that's true, they're going to do all that they can to keep superman open, within reason.

  2. Surfrider's track can be seen near Paradise Country

  3. That sucks. Don't think there's any footage of it sadly either due to their crazy loose item policy in the queue. The TV's were pretty ancient, so hopefully they're just upgrading to new screens and the video will stay intact.

  5. Nearly two decades is a long time for A/V equipment to run for eight hours every single day. Wouldn't be surprised if whatever media server they were using finally died, and they opted to do a full re-do to maximise the ROI on a new fit out. Newer media servers with newer, better TV's means they can do things like dynamic advertising placements, better integrate into existing A/V and also means they can finally update the ride safety video to better suit the times. If it were up to me I'd go full hog and really try and do something with the new screens that tries to entertain folks for as long as possible since they don't have their phones on them. I'm not sure if that means episodes of Superman or a bunch of easter eggs in a few mini-games - but the potential is there.

  6. Yeah, I’m pretty sure those TV’s were 2005 originals. I’m amazed they lasted as long as they did. All the mounting hardware they were attached to has been removed and the cabling seems to have been cut pretty crudely. So it seems unlikely the screens will return (at least in this location). I hope they can figure out a way to install new TV’s somewhere in the queue area as the video really helps to set up the story and is an iconic part of the attraction.

  7. You are giving away DW's biggest drawcard for $10.00. 🤦‍♀️

  8. They are the 'dreamworld' night market now, no? So anything that is part of dreamworld could potentially be a part of the market without impacting the day product, suitably sold or included.. treehouse is really a nothing. it's a mcdonald's playland in the scale of things. free with meal and a place for the kids to piss off to while mum and dad enjoy the peace. Probably costs less to run than the main street movie screen. I hope that the wave swinger is not free for passholders, simply because of the logistics involved in having to police that. Everyone buys a ticket is far simpler. If you want to extend an additional perk to passholders, send them a voucher to use at the ticket booth, but if its free for passholders, the queue will be stupid. (By all means if it's not selling, that's when you give your passholders a few freebies)

  9. Completely agree that commercial hardware (incl TVs) is required, but on a technicality a Raspberry pi is a media server and often used in commercial applications.

  10. Despite riding quite a few times these school holidays I hadn’t even picked up they were gone 😅. I hope new screens are installed at some point, redoing the safety video if they deem it be necessary and having other appropriate content would be great. Just hope they don’t hugely push advertising upcharge experiences on them.

  11. You'll have to note that there being two staff members in the booth is due to training, which always inevitably leads to longer cycle times.

  12. I decided to swing by the park to check out what was happening with the new ride. It looks great and the lighting package compliments it really well (it’s effective even during the day). However, operations were abysmal. It no joke took over 10 mins to despatch one ride. The staff were too busy talking to each other in the op booth to worry about running the attraction. This was in front what appeared to be park officials and members of the VRTP social media team. It was so bad that many people in the queue line simply gave up and left. I really hope the park sorts this out. Here are some shots I took while I was there…

  14. Thanks for the kind words. I kept the trip quiet since I was in Australia for my honeymoon. As for a lot of YouTubers going to Australia, I think many of us were waiting for Leviathan to open.
