  2. The on-board audio for GL and the on-board video/lighting for DCR are both powered by L-ion batteries. If you've been on those rides, you've been locked into a coaster near Lithium batteries. Most people are pretty happy to get into a sealed, pressurised tube that travels in the air at 800km/hr with hundreds of Lithium Ion batteries, that also has explosive kerosene in the wings. They'll even wear the batteries in their pockets, on their wrists and in their ears because the risk of an adverse event is extremely low. GL almost killed people and it wasn't because of the batteries. Mechanical and structural failures can happen for a vast number of reasons - even with good maintenance. L-ion batteries are not inherently more 'unsafe' than any other mechanical component at risk of fatigue, fracture, wear or failure. They're designed into the ride with appropriate electronic and mechanical shielding. In the Objectif Mars incident, the fire was extinguished by staff, and two women were treated by paramedics. Their injuries could have been from inhaling smoke or from them panicking when exiting the ride, not from the fire itself. Nothing about their injuries was reported so we can't know for sure. We do know that they were treated by paramedics and not sent to hospital.

  3. Where’d you see any sooking/crying? It’s a discussion about Dreamworld expansions, and it’s hard to discuss modern Dreamworld’s expansions without also remembering what past Dreamworld had, and the fact of the matter is that, as of right now at least, it’s scaled down. Even just in the last 4 years, and only including rides, they’ve closed: Wipeout, Tower of Terror, Rocky Hollow, FlowRider, Big Red Cars, and BuzzSaw. In that time, they’ve opened Sky Voyager & Steel Taipan, which are good attractions in their own right, but don’t do much to regain what’s been removed (the only possibly direct comparison is ST = BuzzSaw + ToT). They’re continuing to, at least begin, recuperating what they’ve let go with more soon-to-come expansions, some of which are pretty inarguably better uses for their plot than what stood before (Rivertown), but there’ll still be gaps to fill, and thus discussions to be had.

  4. There's a rather large difference between a car catching fire which you can open a door and walk away from, and being trapped in a coaster by the restraints while it's on fire.

  5. MW over here saving money by painting every coaster the same colour as DC Rivals so they only have to keep one paintbrush in stock.

  6. Since it’s the same manufacturer, and based off the concept artwork, this is what the coaster train will look like This is Big Bear Mountain which is about to open at Dollywood

  7. My understanding of the attraction is, if the coaster starts the day travelling forward, it will reach the incline pivoting turntable rotating (whatever you want to call it) track. The train will then be travelling backwards and will complete the rest of the course backwards. It will then arrive back into the station backwards, therefore the next time the track leaves the station it will depart backwards, but then arrive back into the station forwards. And so on. This means the coaster offers two different experiences and you never know which one it will be until you are boarding the train. I don’t know if that is 100% accurate, but that’s my current understanding and knowledge of how the coaster will operate.

  8. If only they still had the turbine from Cyclone, they could have used that to power the letters….

  9. I think you can safely assume they're not solar-powered. If they can run power to an entire plant room 115m+ into the air, they can get power to the letters on the way up.

  10. You don't think they could run a conduit down either the outside, or the inside of the tower???
