  1. I'm just trying to understand how his response possibly relates to anything I said.
  2. i know it technically is, but i'm not a fan of classifying Soarin' as 'just a simulator'. It's not a simulator in the traditional sense of the word - it's more like a 4D cinema...
  3. HM opened in Disneyland in 1969, and WDW's version not until 1971... Would have thought they'd have corrected the 'women leading the men' effect by that time - but perhaps it was already developed and they didn't bother? Sounds like you had an awesome time.
  4. ...looks like the start of some theming there off to the side...
  5. Paraphrasing because i can't be bothered reopening it to copy paste: "the engineer should never have overridden the safety lock with people on the track"... Operator should be cleared of any wrongdoing and all fault should lie with the engineer. Guarantee engineer overrode locks and then told operator it was good to go.
  6. the original info was cited as sourced from MW's facebook page - so clearly no assumption was there. Brad only served to further reinforce the statement by pointing out the obvious factors that contribute to his conclusions.
  7. I guess it's worth pointing out that your favourite ride is actually part of your Parkz profile too...
  8. I don't think that's anywhere near close to being a christmas open - as said - all the rides are installed, presumably they've been tested - all we're talking about now is paths and landscaping, maybe a bit of signage... You'd be surprised how fast the landscapers can work to get gardens and such installed, and as far as paths go - Disneyland laid the bitumen on Main St less than 24 hours before the park opened. Sure - ladies sunk their high heels into it, but the point is - laying a bitumen path doesn't take long either. Since that photo was taken, they've had another 10 days to work on it - and they've got another 9 before it's supposed to open. so they've had 3 weeks between when that photo was taken, and when it's supposed to open. Piss easy.
  9. For me - Space Mountain. I'm kinda inclined to lean towards the HKDL version a bit more than the LA version. *Cue weird looks from the rest of the membership...* I know we've discussed this before, and I like AA a lot more than I liked LW... but the concept it would be a favourite is just hard to get my head around. I'm curious... what makes a REAL coaster, as opposed to all these fakes we have?
  10. Lol. Nice one. RCDB hasn't got a name as yet, but i'd say they'll probably go pretty reliably towards one of the clone names - boomerang, zoomerang etc. If they are going to stick with a name it has held previously and follow your lead, instead of Dem, they should go with an abbreviation of it's original name - Titan.
  11. I'd say the entire intencity building is roughly the same size as the Scooby queuehouse... but they don't usually use all of the scooby queuehouse for a maze - usually they use only half of it, and utilise various entrance \ exits for both attractions separately. Likewise, intencity (when used) is usually only half used, with the other half remaining business as usual.
  12. Yeah I'd like to formally agree with Zanstabar here. There are a lot of 'pie in the sky' ideas thrown around with no thoughts given as to reality, feasibility and affordability... and not just with regard to FNs. It's fine to speculate... BUT SAY IT IS SPECULATION it's fine to dream or wish... BUT SAY SO If you think something is actually possible, and commercially viable then say WHY you feel it would be. Personally, I think next year they will install a coaster based off RCT3, where in pre-show, you design your own coaster including height, launch speed, train and track style, demolishing any buildings or other attractions that stand in the way of what you're trying to build, and then when you enter the load zone - you get to board YOUR coaster design!!!
  13. Yeah - if it's already on Parkz - I don't see a need for it to be duplicated in multiple threads. I'm sure Mark can decide the relevance of information he posts about his park. Just my opinion.
  14. As an avid fan of the park, Demon holds much Nostalgic value for me. Bit in this case - it's time for that ride to die a horrible death - and i'm sure it will achieve that operating in India. The Wonderla rumors came out years ago - but nothing was confirmed anywhere, and we wrote it off as just another rumor... RCDB confirmed it about 2 months ago.
  15. if they pull off the designs as illustrated, then i think they will do well - it kind of integrates the whole area as a motorsport precinct as such (without MDMC) - by theming Cyclone, Redline, PBE and the previously ocean-themed food outlet, it will serve to join the attractions together cohesively. Sure, it's on the edge of ocean parade - but given the GC600 is on the edge of Main Beach, I don't see a problem with the blurred lines... even moreso that cyclone will wrap around an aussie-beach-themed waterpark works as well IMO. I guess its not quite what we were hoping for when they announced a new V8SC attraction, but I am keep to see what they do with Cyclone. I hope it is more than just a new train, and that they at the very least paint the track, and theme the queue...* *god knows how on earth they're going to do that, but they'd bloody well better do something with it. Well, i'm sure the cyclone will be 're-verbed' as part of the refurb-ishment... although i'm not sure they did say "new coaster car" in there... they did say "new look coaster" which could just be a paint job and decals. I'm not sure they've said redline is being rethemed. they may just consider the current state of redline to be 'state of the art' And yes, i'm certain based on the imagery that the new food shop that's going to be built is just Shark Attack getting a makeover.
  16. Sounds like you guys are doing a stellar job! My first thoughts turned to the GC parks - thinking "why can't these guys get this sort of action done" - and then two things hit me - they open year round, so can't shutdown and do massive works across the entire park all at once, but the second thing that hit me is - they kind of are doing this - it's just we see it every day, instead of a big reveal at the end - so the impact is lessened - things like the news stand, and whatever they're doing with dirty harry bar at MW, an entirely new kids land at sea world... sadly it seems WnW has lost out a bit since the introduction of WnWS... DW too is also embarking on some massive renovations across multiple areas too. This is of course fairly recent works, and some of the biggest 'spread' of works across all the parks, all at once that we've seen in ages. Perhaps AW has 'returned serve' to the GC parks, and they're now following your excellent lead... time will tell. I'd love to come for a visit to AW, but distance and cost are prohibitive - in addition to the impending expansion of our family - but I look forward to what you and the team can come up with moving forward, and hope that perhaps MI3 might be the catalyst that will drag us to the west coast... Keep up the great work Mark, and thanks so much for keeping us informed. We all love having you here as a park presence on the boards. I hope the weather is kind to you guys. All the best.
  17. The trouble with a precinct in Arkham's Courtyard (now that Chinatown Alley is closed) is that the only reason you're there is because you've just gotten off the ride. It's a dead end, not likely to have high traffic flow, and probably a wasted opportunity. Now if there was a path leading around behind Scooby to take you up towards a new woodie next to Wild West, that would make more sense... or at the very least - opening up ChinaTown Alley at least to scooby, if not to main street - which would then give people a reason to walk that way. As for Wild West Falls - I'm not sure whether it was involved last year, but in past years, the entire western area (from the "Wild West Falls" Vulture sign) was fenced off. Something about nighttime, large bodies of water and alcohol service that just suggests it's not a very good idea to have that section open. It's not insurmountable to use that area, whilst still having WWF isolated, but it then has a similar issue to the Arkham courtyard. If there is no reason for people to go up there, you're not going to have the traffic flow in the area to make it worth it.
  18. Are you saying that because they have a rollercoaster themed to a movie that has a ghost train, that they couldn't do a haunted mansion? That's like saying Dreamworld shouldn't have bought shockwave, because they already had Claw... #ohwait. Rather than a "haunted" mansion, i'd love to see them do something akin to Mystic Manor in Hong Kong. Original storyline, memorable soundtrack, cute side-kick. Hong Kong took a slant on the traditional haunted mansion as ghosts and the like aren't very popular attractions in chinese culture - so instead they went with something more supernatural and "magical"... if you haven't been there - check out the ride on Youtube. Given their relationship with Sally Corp, I feel comfortable they could do something similar to Mystic Manor - so long as they keep the effects maintained, on a lower budget. It doesn't have to be a clone, nor does it have to be scary - it can just be fun... inserting another 'all age family' ride into a park that is sorely lacking it... but not TOO childish (a la Big Red Car) so it's actually enjoyable. If Sally can master the 'randomised path finder' you could insert a couple of different paths \ stories for the ride to take, which in turn would add to the re-rideability. You've got two choices - clear the rest of Toon ride's stage (behind JDS) and put it there (maintenance will have to find\build a different storage area), or level ShowStage, and theme it western... (Riley's Ranch or something)...
  19. Wasn't me asking Mark - I was answering their question with info based on what you'd already stated given total project cost usually around double that of the ride cost...
  20. Any pics Wyn? What sort of 'structure' is outside DH bar? could they be extending the bar area? Making it more than just a pub that serves nachos?
  21. it's possible... however it's also possible that the hoarding was previously painted red and white for some other reason - such as when it was used around the ice cream shop (pure speculation, i don't recall if they did) - i'm leaning this way at present because there is some plain wood there - if they did stripe it specifically for this particular hoarding, one wonders why they didn't stripe ALL of it, and left some with plain wood... of course - it's also possible that they just didn't finish painting it last night, in which case I'd expect to see another photo of a fully-striped hoarding in the next few days...
  22. it has the FN logo, and it's on a hoarding. I would suggest that means the hoarding is surrounding the 'new attraction' and that the new attraction is for fright nights.
