  1. The 25% has been around for at least 12 months as my last MW annual pass had that discount, down from the 50% the year before.
  2. Whilst reading this article I somehow got linked to I couldn't help but laugh at "An Ekka spokeswoman said visitors also had the option of bringing their own packed lunch – as opposed to some of southeast Queensland's theme parks." The Ekka might not be cheap but when you are bragging something like this the executives need to look at the negative press and feedback they are getting from it. Sure there are those who say in the carpark and some parks overseas do it but they are poor excuses. A park like Cedar Point may have the same policy but they have tables and seats outside the park for those wanting to eat their own lunch. Wonder if locker prices will increase again as well as not as many large lockers are being hired due not as much need for space for a large backpack/cooler. I do not bring my own lunch to the parks or buy in park (go over the road to fast food places) but this policy and the way the parks seem to be heading make me have second doubts about a QLD VIP Pass, I already have a Dreamworld Max Action Pass (Where I would be taking people month of my birthday but won't go into AP discounts). Why can't the ban be for commercially prepared food (eg McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut) and have home made food allowed. Why does it matter if someone is going to sit in the park and eat their food compared to outside. They wouldn't see that much of an increase in food sales as the people have the intention of eating their own prepared lunch in the first place. Either fix the ban or make the food more of an option, no way am I paying $15 or whatever it is for a burger meal that to be honest last time I was there I rated a McDonald's cheeseburger better than. Improve the products and pricing. If a reduction in cost means a smaller sized burger how can it be a bad thing, especially with a lot of companies pushing the eat healthier/healthier sized portion message.
  3. Will say I was somewhat disappointed with HWSD. The stunt driving was average and seemed to be overly repeated. Just seemed to be a heap of figure 8 passes. Saw TopGear Live in February and the stunt driving for part of the show to me was better. First time I went to see HWSD there was too much a of queue, second time I was at the park got to see it and afterwards didn't enjoy it as much as I did Police Academy, sure everyone may have seen PA more times but it was something I would want to do again. HWSD to me didn't have that. Will give them credit for trying something new but for me it was over hyped which was a bit of a let down.
  4. No food or drink? What happens to people bringing the sports sippers into the park for re-use? Guess they would have to be empty now. So long as pass outs are still offered this really won't affect me. Will say though once the Q150 is up it will be a while before I return to Movie World or any WVTP for that matter.
  5. If you look half way up on the left hand side you will notice the track that is the new style track used by Vekoma. It looks huge though compared to the truck parked next to it.
  6. I am yet to experience it anywhere near as good as my first ride on it in 2003. Since then it has had at least one thing wrong each visit. The final drop effect now is nowhere near as good as then when there was a green tunnel hiding the drop completely. Couple of things from Saturday. Fog in general is lacking. There was the smell from it after the final drop but there was no visible sign of it. In general there was way too much lighting for a "dark ride". It just seemed brighter on the ride than usual. Sound in the "laser room" was appauling. It was muffled, seemed louder on one side and was quiet in general. You can hardly hear it at Lethal Weapon walking past the building. It would be nice to see the ride back to how it was the first time I went on it.
  7. Wild Beast is essentially the same ride. Just a bit more Canadian. Google Maps satellite view shows the layout of the ride.
  8. Krispy Kreme in Dreamworld is kinda different to putting a Maccas in as KK is just another menu item (at an increased price to stores/outlets owned by KK). Eagle Boys I would be guessing was a similiar sort of arrangement. It would all come down to how a major chain would perform compared to their own/exisiting outlets plus the impact that one would have on the other outlets. I personally wouldn't put one into a park and can see reasons why it hasn't been done.
  9. I was there on Sunday and at one point when I went past the approximate queue time was 60 minutes.
  10. Can say today SE had someone at the front of queue checking, a grouper, two ops at the station doing harness check and both trains running. Was surprised to find the overflow carpark open too. One good thing is the rides when I went on them were handling people no problem. Would have been slightly better with LW to soak some of the people. Hollywood Stunt Driver had a third show put on. I didn't bother with it as an hour before the last show people were already queued.
  11. Yesterday was a great day for it though. I was surprised to see people still walking in when I left at 3:30pm. The way the weather is at the moment can still see it being busy on the weekends. I got there early after the wait at Sea World the other week and knew it was going to be busy. There were quite a few people there but found queues for most things not that bad.
  12. Will say I did that as a kind of joke thing in response to you asking. It was quite funny though having people ask me if I knew what was happening. I made an assumption a short while after that the fact the host address also wasn't working meant the server wasn't operational for whatever reasons.
  13. If it was flooded with people then going bust really isn't a viable reason. Plus there would have been reports published about financial problems.
  14. Seemed like everyone else with a Q150 pass was there on Sunday too. The way it has been handled was wrong, with at least another line minimum for "barcoded tickets" needed. After a 30-40 minute wait finally got in. Will say the ride was great. Only got two rides in both earlyish as the queue started to get up when I went to ride again. Second time was held up as someone with a phone and camera didn't listen to all the notices about no loose items on the ride. Having been on MDMC around a week or so before I can say this ride is way better. Will definitely be heading back again whilst I still have use of the pass. Hopefully Corkscrew will be open next time, somewhat disappointed to see it closed when I got there.

https://secure.element5.com/esales/checkout...affiliate=order is where you should be directed to for buying it for Windows, or https://secure.element5.com/esales/checkout...affiliate=order if you are a mac person. If it doesn't look like the above site then it isn't the right place for buying it. The links are taken from the order page on the NoLimits site.
  16. Going the way they are wouldn't be surprised if it was added as an upcharge attraction, "$?? to assist demolition of the Big Brother house" Got a feeling the queue for that would be as big, if not bigger than the one to tour it. And it would save slightly on labour costs!
  17. Start half an hour later and put savings into something big and new? Severely doubting it though. It is kinda poor to see the parks starting everything half an hour later. If they adjusted it with later opening in summer it wouldn't be as bad. At least it isn't like Dreamworld where the extra half an hour is needed for queuing for some of the rides.
  18. I got there around 7:30-8pm so obviously must have missed out on the locker problems. Only other time I went to them was to get everything out of them. Were the queues really that bad? I got to do everything at least once. I must have been lucky or better planed my choice of slides and when I done them.
  19. I managed to get free tickets and went tonight. Wasn't packed and was a great night out. First visit to the park and was impressed. Be even better with some more slides/additions. Can say everything was well worth the wait to ride.
  20. First thing the government needs to do is introduce legislation like what has been recently done here with the XXXX brewery that stops nearby residents complaining about noise. Then the park might be able to get somewhere when it comes to rides.
  21. Is it me or is there an echo in here? One question is with the added income from this would it result in more money being spent on better staffing or is it another blatant cash grab for a problem that shouldn't exist?
  22. Whilst I enjoy V8 Supercars I can honestly say this will not get me into the park to "experience" it. I don't go to theme parks for the upcharge attractions, I go for the rides and coasters. If I wanted to experience a V8 ride I would do the real thing. $80 at Dreamworld or $135 to ride in a real V8 just up the road a little. The choice is clear for me. The track might not be Bathurst but something like this cannot replicate the experience of a real car.
  23. A few pros and cons for the 360: Pros: Are now somewhat cheap (Cheaper than a Wii for base model) Excellent online service (you may have to pay for it but the yearly cost is worth it) "Classic" games are now around $30 and are decent titles with most older but great games around $40 at places like Big W/JB when on special Easily connects to your computer for playback of music, videos, photos and with media center can stream HDTV from a PC with Media Center and HDTV tuner Failure rate is much lower in the latest batch, and they run much quieter and cooler Backwards compatibility with XBOX Original games (can even be purchased and downloaded via XBOX Live Marketplace) Cons: No Blu-ray playback Earlier/launch consoles had a high failure rate (mine is a AU launch console and only been repaired once almost 2 years ago now), so only buy new Online service has a subscription fee Games cannot be as easily imported due to region coding I own a Wii, XBOX 360 and semi decent PC, do most of my gaming on 360 with most FPS/RTS games on my PC. Keyboard and mouse are more natural for me than trying to aim with the sticks. The best thing for you to do if you are looking at playing FPS on it is to try a few at someones place and see if you really like the control setup. Don't forget too a game on a console is around $30ish more (RRP) than PC which is why I own Call of Duty 4 for PC and not 360. That and online multiplayer whilst easier on the 360 the extra players (32 instead of 16 on 360) and locally hosted servers were just as much of an important factor for price when buying. Cannot say much about the PS3 as I don't own one nor do I ever intend on doing so.
  24. Fixed As for what happens to the space, I don't know. Sort of hard to reuse something purpose built for a show like that. Maybe a new "thrill" ride as a haunted house of sorts with darkish lighting and people dressed up as Gretel jumping out and scaring guests. Or as mentioned sit there for a few years with nothing happening and remain on the park map for a year until it "mysteriously disappears". One less thing for people who are interested in it to do on that side of the park making it somewhat lop sided for attractions now. DW really need to put something new over there to spread the guests a bit more around the park instead of all in Ocean Parade/Nick Central area of the park.
  25. Wonder if the advertising they have been Doohan that could be playing a part. I have not really heard or seen any advertising for Movie World or any of the other parks.
