  1. For all its faults I remember spending many hours trawling through it's content over the years, even though I only attended Wonderland a couple of times. Chris, thanks for at least keeping the site active after all this time. Looking forward to seeing its transformation when the time comes.
  2. I would expect that the door between load/unload on Superman would need to be integrated much the same as ST's switch track is, would it not? Failure of the door would need to result in the dispatch being halted until it was fixed/bypassed as it's in the ride path.
  3. Looks pretty good to me. Credit to Dreamworld's Golden Years - Past, Present, Future on FB
  4. Making the structure look less neglected and tidying it up. Remember they never even announced Arkham as officially closed, they just started pulling it down after they announced WoO. There's so much evidence pointing to it's removal (or at least never returning to service) and not that much for retaining. Evidence for never returning: - University study on what to do with the track - FB comments from VRTP that said it was permanently closed and later retracted. - Disposal of other monorail trains - Not reopening it after Atlantis construction completed - Removal of components (as above)/ - Adding lighting/electrical into the path of the train Evidence for remaining: - It's still standing - There's still one train left and is still parked in the station - They're doing maintenance on the track itself (painting etc) I'd hope that the monorail is adequately 'locked out' like any other form of machinery undergoing maintenance, and that any maintenance is completed before the lockout can be removed (including re-installation of shrouds).
  5. Visited LPS for the first time today, which is kinda mad considering we only live a couple of hours away. Took a couple of snaps of the Wild Mouse. The cars have been moved back outside and are under covers. There were no pinball machines inside Coney Island, the space where the cars were in a previous photo was just empty. There were a couple of pieces of track behind the fence just outside the Wild Mouse entrance next to the covered up cars.
  6. Saw this this afternoon; Universal announcing new Dreamworks lands Seems to me like the loss of Dreamworks at Dreamworld was more from the point of Universal wanting it back rather than it being too expensive for Dreamworld.
  7. So a faster, taller (in height), shorter (in length) version of Steel Taipan?
  8. No, you didn't. Justify it to yourself however you want but you still jumped the queue. Unless you're all there when your party joins the queue, you queue jumped.
  9. Is it actually just painted on though, or is it made via differing the sizes of the holes in the mesh? The latter would be much harder to fix. To their credit, DW has been pretty proactive about fixing their signage when it's been pointed out (or at least that's the impression I get). Examples: Taipan lettering upside down, ABC kids world signage, flyer hoarding. The GD shelter has been pointed out before, and before the extended maintenance period. This tells me that it either simply does not worry them, or that the fix is a lot more involved than we think.
  10. Was VQ working last holidays? It was turned off for duration of our visit.
  11. During our Easter visit last year, we had a seven day pass. Each day we rope dropped Rivals and then either waited once for another ride like Superman or Lantern. After those two rides we left and went to either Dreamworld or Seaworld depending on our mood, it was far too busy for us to hang around all day, seeing as though the wait times never really went down. For comparison when we were at Magic Kingdom last year, most of the rides' wait times dropped to about half around lunch time (after the rope drop rush) and were practically empty after the fireworks, that didn't really occur at any time at our parks; they were consistently busy from open to close. I don't know if recent holiday periods have been as busy, as there was quite a lot of Covid "revenge travelling" happening last Easter, but my experience back then has taught me that MW simply doesn't cope well with the number of guests in holiday periods and is best avoided if at all possible. The other option is to stump-up for Fast Track if you are time limited, but again you need to be at the front of the queue at park opening to have a chance at snagging one.
  12. Tony Clark has a history of posting cryptic clues/teasers about new attractions, so the enthusiasts always read into anything he posts. Kinda like RMC trolling the same kind of folks with t-rex hints. https://www.cedarpoint.com/new-in-2024 I've always thought the 'new' coaster would be grey based on the massive image of it being grey at the top of that page. I've only today realised that it's just grey scale (intentional?)
  13. Personally I'd say this is 100% in response to the DW kids area revamps in the works. Competition is good!
  14. It can't be anything too serious though if they're able to cycle the ride though right? I mean at least it's still functional.
  15. Maybe BOH is full of all the other stuff they've got on the go right now and they needed somewhere to put this that's out of the way? A lot is happening in Ocean Parade.
  16. and I've gotta say I agree. Good to see him just getting on with it.
  17. Only if there's a section that needs a pier or footing here or there. I see it as a bit half assed, but you see it in business everywhere; it's wasted money to excavate the entire old structure when you're only going to pave over it anyway.
  18. For my wife in particular, being able to ride more than once without having her ears beaten to a bloody pulp. The newer restraints are more like the Mack restraints on Rivals/Taipan; they're more contoured to clamp on your thighs, whereas the current superman restraints are just a tube at the base of the OTSR, so the straps still play a role in holding you in overall. I don't think this is really a risk/concern on our superman ride though.
  19. Interesting take, I thought in the comparison between TTD and KDK that the lap bars were preferred. What is is about them you don't like? Velocicoaster's restraints were comfy for the record.
  20. Ride 'mechanics' have more of a background in engineering rather than mechanics though right? It's more of a niche/skilled profession. Speciality/rarity is really all this argument is boiling down to. Aviation would have SLA's on their turn arounds, and that's one of the safest industries out there despite all the lay-off's and outsourcing you hear about. Look at RMC, they started out building others' rides, now they build their own; a market could be made if there's a demand, we just don't really have it here in Aus.
  21. They were blue, now they're yellow. It's a fairly good indication that they're RGB. Hopefully they've only used 'dumb' RGB for the light strings themselves, with ARGB controllers for each letter. This way they can still customise the lettering if desired, but you won't see the LED's on an individual letter spaz out (see also: Slingshot Surfers Paradise/Any other ARGB installation that has water get into it). Individual control of LED's per letter would be a bit overkill IMO, also the tower doesn't lend itself very well to quick and easy repairs if one of the LEDs in the string fails.
  22. Not to nitpick here, but it looks like a W in the proposal image, not an upside down M. Maybe an actual W as per the render was too wide? Or indeed it's also just a different font (render was a mock up only).
  23. I don't think your comments are wrong with regards to measuring ride operations success as time between dispatches, but like others have said, joe shmoe simply won't care; parks will though like you've said, more dispatches+more maintenance+more cost. I don't think your theory is on the extreme side of the conspiracy theory spectrum, but unless someone from VTRP speaks out, or a previous employee breaks an NDA to confirm/deny this, it will only ever remain a theory, on both ends of the argument.
