I'm thinking this ride is going to be themed to The Joker and himself only, but it is probably the Suicide Squad incarnation and not the one from the comics. The pink track I see screams Joker and this coaster will most likely go in the DC Super-Villains Unleashed area if it is being themed to a DC villain. It's kind of useless having an area in a theme park with a single ride in it, like with Doomsday at the moment. And plus, there's no standalone Joker ride in the park at the moment, and having a Suicide Squad collective ride makes it too close to Arkham Asylum, theming-wise. The coaster's pink track is quite reminiscent of the old Joker's Revenge coaster at Six Flags Fiesta Texas (now sitting abandoned in New Orleans), adding to my suggestion that this ride could be a Joker standalone ride. Being an extreme comic nerd myself, I would have loved a Killing Joke theme, but that doesn't deserve a standalone ride.

Luna Park Sydney announce ride expansion
XxMrYoshixX replied to Jobe's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Well, while it is true the park was killed off because of the cyclone's noise problems, the park is now legally protected from neighbour complaints. As long as they have a DA, LPS can now build a coaster without fear of a legal challenge from the neighbours. Although that poses a question; "Where is LPS going to fit a coaster?". We won't get something Hot Wheels-size again, but something from a second-tier manufacturer like Gerstlauer, S&S or even Mack would do fine. If LPS were spending more money, I could even say they wood be considering something from GCI, but that's far out of their reach. -
Luna Park Sydney announce ride expansion
XxMrYoshixX replied to Jobe's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Well, let's just say its $1-1.5m for each ride (6 in total). The stuff in the DA LPS sent out for approval should cost no less than $3m. That leaves about 9-12m for the park to spend on something else. It would be even more if LPS were indeed looking at a coaster and counting it in the 6. Either that, or the park will be building a lot more infrastructure. -
Luna Park Sydney announce ride expansion

OK, so this probably means the Expo 88 alumni rides from the '95 redevelopment that remain could all be going (Tumblebug, Spider and Ranger). If this is true, I'll be sad they are not at my home park or country anymore, but these rides are fast approaching 30 years of age and it's high time for a refresh. Also, the Ten coverage you posted is quite interesting, with unseen footage of Big Dipper and the 1995 redevelopment. It also said that: Could this hint to further expansion beyond the 6 we've already had confirmed? Please correct me if I'm wrong. -
Tower of Terror 2 oil spray on face [SOLVED]
XxMrYoshixX replied to willco's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Seems like a bit of an oily situation. Aside from the really bad pun, this is in no way shape or form normal. Go report this odd occurrence to them. This is probably a case of the ride's hydraulic fluid leaking in some way. -

WAIT WAIT WAIT..... They are getting rid of Coney Island? That's impossible, because Coney Island is on the State Heritage Register. Otherwise, good. Very good progress. Although, and I may be most certainly wrong, LPS still have a teeny tiny chance of getting a coaster, probably something like a Eurofighter. As some of you remember, an old user by the name of Lunaparksydneymodel on this board did claim that the park manager told him of a plan that is quite similar to the one mentioned in this article (this was long before the Hair Raiser waffle too): Now, he said 5 rides + 1 coaster which = 6 rides in total. I doubt this is happening anymore as this was years back just after Hair Raiser opened, but it is something to take into consideration. If LPS want to build a family-friendly area and have a Wave Swinger as the centrepiece, I think it's time's up for Ranger because the Flying Carousel would fit much better in Maloneys corner as opposed to where Flying Saucer used to be. It's sad for people like me who grew up with the ride, but it is said in the article that thrillseekers will benefit from the new rides. Given, the article has said 6 rides, I expect Tumblebug, Ranger, a kid ride But, despite LPS moving forward, there will be numerous challenges with the park refresh. I won't be surprised if some of the plan gets cut back or cancelled altogether because of a challenge the park has faced for the last twenty years - the snooty rich neighbours that kick and scream at a park that has existed far longer than any of the apartment buildings. That challenge killed off the park's flagship attraction in 1995, and nearly killed off Hair Raiser. -
Dreamworld 'Pure Imagination' Campaign
XxMrYoshixX replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
No. Just no. If this was 2013, fine. It's a shock how you complain that the song in the ad is an overused song from a movie, and then go on to suggest Happy, which the exact same thing, only a whole lot worse. -
Dreamworld 'Pure Imagination' Campaign
XxMrYoshixX replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
This is a genuinely good ad Dreamworld has made, it is so much better than whatever "Dreamworld Happiness" crap they were doing before. Reminds me of some ads Six Flags were doing in the early 00's. Except for one thing: The first few words "Hold your breath.". I can't believe this was able to get past PR, considering how the TRRR accident that this park is still moving on from, is still fresh on people's minds to this day. Understandably, they wanted to go with something iconic and simple, but leaving those few words was a huge mistake and could give DW bad publicity if the press exploit it. It shouldn't belong on any DW ad, let alone your comeback ad after you've just experienced an accident that has made headlines around the world and here at home. -
I have the grand total of an Abyss shirt and a Big 9 (and 8) Dreamworld shirt. A thing I like do is when I travel to theme parks, I buy a shirt, often of my favourite coaster there, but in DW's case the TOT2 shirt was a dumb design so I went with Big 9. Those shirts is what I'd usually wear to theme parks when I have the rare opportunity of going to one.

[Wishful Thinking] The Gold Rush Replacement
XxMrYoshixX replied to Reanimated35's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Like said before, any sort of theming that DW puts on its rides are simply left to rot with age. This has been a flaw with DW's maintenance procedures for years and years. Cyclone's old theming in 2014/15 is an example of how poorly DW treats its on-ride scenery. There were cobwebs all over the station, the theming inside the old queue was intensely sun faded, blue paint was splattered across the floor, bird shit was on the turbine and the onride photo was non-functional. The place was a mess. This is why DW shouldn't do elaborate theming or any dark ride for that matter. It looks fantastic for a couple years, before it becomes dilapidated like what happened to GD, Cyclone and TOT2 to some extent. -

Hmm, that's very quiet, especially for a Saturday. No doubt it would be something to do with the extreme heat we've had lately, in particular Friday and Saturday was like living in soup. -

DC Rivals HyperCoaster construction discussion

Lightning Rod was RMC's first and was their prototype launched coaster. Hence, a launch was still a new concept to them, hence the constant delays like most historic prototype rides, such as X2, Bat and Windjammer, and those rides were first of its kind and prototype rides to their respective manufacturers, and in the case of X2, an entirely new concept. Bat had problems with its wheel assembly and got tore down within three years, X2 survived but drove its manufacturer broke, and Windjammer lived a grand total of two years before Knotts tore it down. MW's hyper will most likely not be a prototype. The guy in the video has already said that this ride will be the same ride type as Flash but with a custom layout. -

I'll just give my 2c on this: Nobody outside of this forum is fully aware that the media is beating up the theme parks, at this moment. Looking at all the comments on Facebook right now relating to the GD incident, most of the people are gullible enough to buy the media's bullshit, probably because they are unaware that our community or Parkz exists, let alone 50% of the recent topics on this board are about the media beating up our theme parks. Reading these comments make me cringe, but I understand what is going on in their mind. They just aren't aware of the stringent safety requirements that theme parks need to abide by (that's more than your standard OH&S), or safety features that are present on modern rides, from reputable manufacturers. From personal experience, waiting at the top of GD is the most terrifying part of the ride. This breakdown might seem minor, but in reality it is quite horrifying, as sitting at the top of GD for 30 seconds is scary in itself, let alone 10 minutes. Nonetheless, the media companies aimed to make a scene out of this rare error. Something like this is better off being an interesting family story, not a news article designed to scare the shit out of the GP. This is going to be a interesting 12 months, with the media keeping a close eye on our theme parks for errors. I'll laugh if the media attempts to capitalise on a Superman rollback.

I noticed this in the video as well. Isn't this Rail Rider, and what is the thing sticking out the back of it for? And also, Bounty's didn't have an ugly paint job in those days. Was not a fan of the purple, yellow and red the ride had towards the end. It looked like something out of The Wiggles. -

Lego retired the sandcrawler only very recently, and a star destroyer set has been out of print for a number of years now. Nearly bought the sandcrawler, but the thing is enormous. Gumtree is your best bet for that set now, since it will only continue to go up in price. -

Oh dear. Can't wait to get the Star Wars Death Star when I return to DW. -
Well to be fair, the ride was very young when it operated at LPS, as the ride was shut when it was only a year old. Its quite a bit better now DW have given the coaster MK212 trains. When it was Cyclone, the ride was awful.

But B&M's coaster track is built in the US, so we'd be paying shipping costs on USD, and considering the value of the Australian dollar against the US dollar now, it would cost shitloads to ship here alone. -
AA is a typical run of the mill SLC with restraints incredibly painful on my thighs. Although, I've tried some of the SLCs in the States and those things are neck breakers.
