It’s called the Corkscrew Coaster. They just don’t refer to it as that in some of their press releases/messages

Theme Park Maintenance Schedules 2017
Brad2912 replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Given almost every water park known to man has a tip bucket, and the one in question has operated for near on a decade, there is zero truth to that... -
SDSC is probably the most restrictive in terms of size from what I’ve seen with people. If you make it on there you’ll be sweet on Rivals

Nice one Push. Good to see you expanding your ride horizons! Dont forget torrential rain was forecast yesterday, and it held off for most of the day (pretty much until Fright Nights opened - thanks! Haha). I wouldn’t have planned a day to the park in those conditions

DC Rivals HyperCoaster - soft open discussion
Brad2912 replied to joz's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Well... DCR in torrential driving rain is something... 3 mins of what feels like needles or small pebbles being blasted into your face is kinda memorable yet painful. Physically couldn’t see as you couldn’t really keep your eyes open thanks to the slow loaders in the car awaiting departure, the 2 mins in the brake run got everyone to ‘drowning’ levels of wet. backed it up immediately with a backwards run, which thankfully negated the eye needles and was a heap of fun -
No credit deserved the photo Mickey - not mine! Haha i won’t even bother with a review. Only hit up Halloween which I enjoyed, mainly as it meant 3mins of not getting further soaked (not that I could really have got any further soaked by that point)

Well tonight was fun....

As much as I love my theme parks, the state government won’t even stump up the money to fix bottlenecks on the M1... the northern GC is desperate for schools. There is much better things I’d love to see the government put money into other than theme parks. Planning fee exemptions and fast tracks to approvals I am all for

Hey guys, have forgotten since last year... where are the access paths to get to the new maze sheds? I know there was one path up past the smoking area near WWF, but where was the other path way? Is it near AA?

DC Rivals HyperCoaster - Fast Track available
Brad2912 replied to Santa07's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Not a big fan of fast track in general, but I don’t see a $4 jump being a massive deal if demand and capacity warrant it. I mean if I’m desperate to skip the queue and was willing to pay $15, then an extra $4 that would buy me about half a bottle of water isn’t going to make me go “oh f**k it, I’ll just wait in the general queue for 1-1.5hrs and hold onto my $4...” -
Well it got me too... I would have sworn it was intentional and to the theme... I can’t remember a time it wasn’t there...

We were never going to get another major attraction at a VTP property with year with Rivals opening. i think a well done splash zone is a terrific use of space and provides good bang for minimal buck. It’s not as if they have a lack of space for future development when they have the funds for a major ride (2019 seems the goal).

Guess I’ve just been lucky then! and No... just no... haha

How does one quantify “lots of people vomiting”. In all my years, I’m yet to actually see someone physically vomit mid-ride or effect operations - so I’d consider 2 people to be ‘lots’.

Ultimate Terror Tour Reviews (2017)

I found last years FN’s to be the poorest in the past 5 or so years. By the looks of the maze/show/experience reviews both here and elsewhere, this years is no better if not worse.... -
Cementing Movie World
Brad2912 replied to Gold Coast Amusement Force's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yeah we’ve discussed many a time here in the past few years the value that the MM licence could bring to the park, most notably in the arena by way of a stunt show. Unfortunately the further in time we go from the film release, the less likely it becomes to ever see fruition. There was some murmurs earlier in the year though that HWSD, at least in its current form, was on its last legs so to speak, so hopefully something new in 2018 -
Whatever happened to dreamworld studios
Brad2912 replied to Theme Park's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Let’s be clear, ‘DW studios’ isn’t in the same ballpark as Village Roadshow Studios. DW studios consisted of a single building which housed the video/productions offices for Big Brother, next to the amphitheatre where the live shows were filmed. That’s it. There is no sound stages that can be repurposed to further utilised -

Seemed as good a place as any to paste this... Ardent wake-up call on Dreamworld land plan Various investors in Ardent Leisure are believed to be eager for the company to put its plans for land adjoining its Dreamworld theme park on hold. It is understood some shareholders are hoping to see the company’s long-term business plan for turning around the embattled theme park before any attempts are made to sell off parts of its property or embark on a sale and leaseback of the land. Dreamworld and WhiteWater World are in southeast Queensland at the northern end of the Gold Coast, 48km south of Brisbane. Analysts believe the land adjoining the parks offers lucrative development opportunities. Adding to the appeal, the Commonwealth Games will be held on the Gold Coast next year. Ardent has previously engaged with real estate agents to look at the surplus property next to Dreamworld, and it is thought a sale or redevelopment in joint venture with another party is under consideration. Some say a sale and leaseback of the Dreamworld land is on the table, but company sources have denied this. Ardent Leisure is undertaking a full business review for Dreamworld, which will be concluded in the next few months. The plans remain under the spotlight after Ariadne director Gary Weiss was last month appointed chairman of Ardent, replacing George Venardos. The change came after Ariadne and its backers amassed shares in Ardent and agitated for change. Dr Weiss — a veteran corporate raider — and US-based executive Brad Richmond were appointed to the board. Further changes at Ardent are expected to be announced soon and the theory around the market is that one of them involves putting a halt to any plans to sell Dreamworld’s real estate. Ariadne and its backers, who include veteran property developer Kevin Seymour, have put forward a rescue plan for Ardent Leisure aimed at restoring confidence in Dreamworld and reinvigorating Ardent’s struggling US business Main Event before a potential sale or float of that unit in three years’ time. Dr Weiss has previously said it is critical for Ardent’s board to be strengthened after incumbent directors presided over a substantial loss of value. He predicted the bulk of the gains could come from getting the US operations firing and substantial value could be realised at Dreamworld. Ardent’s theme park revenue has plummeted after four visitors were killed in a tragic accident on the Thunder River Rapids ride at Dreamworld in October last year. Ardent also swung to a $62.6m loss last year. The Ariadne camp, which holds about 10.9 per cent of the stock, claim to have won strong support on the company’s register.

Everyone is back at school tomorrow so back to off peak period for parks. 15min waits on all but Rivals would probably be pretty realistic

Ultimate Terror Tour Reviews (2017)
Brad2912 replied to Reanimated35's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I get giving a little bit of latitude on opening night, but for me that latitude extends to scare acting timing and engagement, fluency of opening/closing shows etc. It doesn’t extend to them just completely cocking up the organisation of the UTT/Hyped Tour which from the comments here is what has happened. If you pay for a premium product/service, then you must be provided with the ability to complete the inclusions of that service. It’s pretty basic consumer law really.... -

Pretty expensive clusterf**k... hope those in attendance were offered a repeat visit if that is the case... -
Don’t think today will be busy given its a) afl grand final and Riverfire i wouldn’t be getting fast track for mazes. I never have and have never not got all 4 mazes done within 2 to 2 1/2 hours id be there from 5 so you are first in The door. Head straight to the sheds so you’ll be in the first group for whichever maze you do first. You’ll be out with enough Time to get in the queue for your second maze before too much or a crowd hits. If you can nail 2 from 4 mazes within the first 30mins you are set up for a good night. DCR will absorb crowds all night too which will be helpful. Dont stop to eat, eat on the way to the park or in a queue. Prioritise the shows you want to see (if any). Main thing is just not to waste time aimless wandering. Have a plan and stick to it.
