  1. I figured they'd already opened given there initial opening date was Aust Day. Must have been some hiccups. I'm keen to see it succeed, but there has been very little local media or advertising apart from the initial story in early Jan
  2. You gotta be kidding, right @pushbutton? maybe they can play that in the parents room to help the babies fall asleep...
  3. Nearly every song ever used as a jingle or as part of a brand's advertising was not written with the intention of being anything to do with the brand it became aligned with. Imagination, fun, dreaming, excitement, escapism - are themes of the song that are quintessentially theme park related themes
  4. The opening line is completely fine. It's not like they are running with a slogan of "hold your breath", it's a line from the song, and a very commonly used phrase linking to excitement and surprise.
  5. I was hoping for a bunch of people licking Snozberry flavoured wallpaper....
  6. Agree with u, was just pointing out what I think Max was getting at..
  7. I think he's saying if the containers haven't arrived on the dock today, they won't come until the next docking next week, which means it will only leave 2 weeks of that area being closed with track parts on site. of course that is relying on the downtime having a) anything To do with the new coaster at all and b ) if it is coaster related, it having something to do with the tracks. Neither of which are confirmed in anyway though...
  8. The Bulletin told everyone it was a hyper months ago... as did the tender documents as far back as 6 months ago the staff did not just find out..
  9. Yep... pretty much. It'd be like doing a historical tour of Wonderland... "and where this loading dock sits used to be the queue house for the Bush Beast, and over on your left you could almost imagine the Space Probe towering above that factory..."
  10. THE Gold Coast will star in a new movie magic tourist attraction set to premiere at this year’s Gold Coast Film Festival (GCFF). The Gold Coast Movie Locations Tour will take guests on a three-hour scenic drive to locations featured in more than 20 movies made on the Coast including Kong: Skull Island, The Shallows, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, San Andreas and Muriel’s Wedding. Scenes for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson new movie San Andreas being shot at The Pines Shopping Centre Elanora today and tomorrow. Pic by David Clark The tour will mark the launch of a new film tourism industry on the Gold Coast and see the city join major movie hubs such as Los Angeles, New York and London as must-visit destinations for film buffs. One of several new events on the program for the 15th annual GCFF, the tour will run daily at 9am and 1pm from April 22-24 and make four major stops including the Emmy-award winning makeup-effects studio JMB FX at Labrador. King Kong is currently filming on South Stradbroke Isalnd close to Juminpin and the scene being filmed has a plane crashed onto the beach Pic by David Clark Guests will be able to tour the JMB FX workshop, which has worked on films including Ghost Ship, The Ruins, The House of Wax, San Andreas, Scooby Doo, Street Fighter and most recently Thor: Ragnarok, Kong: Skull Island, The Shallows and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Aerial images of the new Thor 3 Ragnarok sets currently under construction at Movie World on the Gold Coast Photo: David Clark The tour will also stop at The Spit, where Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales stars including Johnny Depp, Brenton Thwaites, Kaya Scodelario and Kevin McNally spent several days filming scenes on the beach and in a specially-built castaway cabin set and Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Fool’s Gold, Triangle, Pacific Rim, Mako Mermaids and Ghost Ship also spent time filming. The Coombabah site of the new King Kong movie film set being filmed on the Gold Coast. Picture by Scott Fletcher The other stops are Bond University, which hosted Fear of Darkness, Scooby Doo and The Marine and saw Abedian School of Architecture building feature prominently as a backdrop in Dwayne Johnson’s epic action flick San Andreas, and Coombabah Lakeland Tracks, which hosted Oscar winner Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston and Samuel L. Jackson during filming for Kong: Skull Island, which opens in Australia on March 9. Pirates Of The Caribbean set at The Spit. While work on Hollywood blockbuster Aquaman, starring Jason Momoa and Amber Heard, will prevent the tour from accessing Village Roadshow Studios, guests will be treated to an exclusive virtual behind-the-scenes tour of the Oxenford filmmaking facility. Scenes for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson new movie San Andreas being shot at The Pines Shopping Centre Elanora today and tomorrow. Pic by David Clark Interviews with film crew and Queensland filmmakers will also be screened as part of the tour, with guests to be treated to untold celebrity tales and interesting set stories in-between stops. Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate said he was pleased to see the launch of the film tourism industry on the Gold Coast and hoped it would continue to flourish in coming years. Whilst I think the idea has merit, given none of the sets are standing, you are really just visiting the Spit (free), Coombabah (free). The tour of the visual effects is arguably the highlight. If a backlot tour of VRS was possible I think it would be a great experience
  11. He'll love you even more if he can walkthrough your house first...
  12. That'll pretty much sandwich my house between Dreamworld & "Orlando-style theme parks" Won't complain. Also won't be holding out any hope. Been waiting 9 years for the Coomera Town Centre to be finished and they've only just started ground works. "It won't happen overnight, but your grandkids might see it...."
  13. Most people, id say 99%, have no idea how close the 'derailment' on GL came to being a major tragedy. The overboard media reporting of every minor issue on our rides has basically desensitised perceptions of incidents to "green lantern/storm is Broken down again... oh well". Most just think it was a regular breakdown with a high evac that caused the ride to the closed for a long period. Whilst the media reported very briefly on the wheel mechanism on the ground below the ride, I never saw any further mention of this in the following days, nor any real media investigation/beat alluding to just how serious that was..
  14. @djrappa memory could be wrong but the Thor sets were not this far down the hill I thought. they were to the left of the road as it turns to head towards PC. This new slab is literally just past the studios. red being Thor sets as I remember it, blue what I saw today
  15. A lot of work going on to the south of the studios (opposite side to Top Golf Construction) formwork going down for a slab directly next to the studios, a new driveway/entrance, and another slab has been laid on the opposite side of the road (WnW side). I'm guessing it may be related to the Aquaman sets & filming, but it's certainly quite 'permanent'. Whilst many external sets were build around the studios for Thor 3, none required new slabs being laid
  16. As per Magician's post, here are a couple pics..
  17. Have certainly never seen so many site offices/demountables for a single project at our theme parks before. Just goes to show the scale of what is being built
  18. I believe so, and I have it on good authority this coaster will be completed before the MW coaster is even officially announced..
  19. Good to see DW really busy today, definitely the busiest I've seen since re-opening. Watched the new tiger island presentation/show today. Think the comedic element was pretty lame and completely unnecessary but I'm probably being critical. Stage 2 currrently looks like this... (well it's not sideways but you get the point...)
  20. Makes sense... id imagine a functioning & filming-ready water tank would be fairly important for filming Aquaman.
