  1. Wasn’t there a bloke here that said he was restoring old footage of this off old VHS tapes?
  2. When I was trying to find a job in Orlando in 2022, I applied and interviewed at the Orlando FunSpot location. Was warned off working there by many of the employees because they got paid $12.50 an hour and weren’t given any breaks. Also didn’t have a car at the time so I think I must’ve walked 10km across the highway from where I was living to the park. The only thing that really made it worth it was the interviewer giving me 3 consecutive free rides on Freedom Flyer as the park wasn’t open yet. Neat park for sure but it kind of pales in comparison to the surrounding theme parks.
  3. I think your brain is made of ground up Hypercoaster.
  4. For a ride called The Flash they sure are taking their time putting it all together.
  5. I’m excited to play DOOM in the Leviathan loading bay should there be extended downtime. …For an additional $25.
  6. “Lorem ipsum” is latin placeholder text used by publishing/graphic design companies. I was making a joke. And, yes, I made said joke aware of the translation before doing so.
  7. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, Giant Drop elit.
  8. Why does the Giant Drop lettering here look like placeholder text?
  9. The extra $24 a month is for the privilege of using the new Spinning Ticket Scanners™ they’re installing at the front gate.
  10. Isn’t every roller coaster built with ocean on at least two sides? I don’t remember Pangaea having a theme park but, then again, I wasn’t around in the Paleozoic era.
  11. I suppose the clickbaiting nature (of which I don’t personally see in Defunctland, but to each their own) is an inherent flaw in the Youtube format. You don’t really have to clickbait a video about The Wiggles Ride because it’s likely to be the only documentary-style video on the topic. I can understand your troubles with some of the facts being relatively loose but getting the timeframe for dark ride installations in Australia off by a few years doesn’t seem like a big deal. If “clickbaiting” is the only way we’re likely to see Australian theme parks, including defunct attractions, discussed on Youtube, then I’m fine with that. There’s enough to talk about.
  12. What I’m hoping is that this video opens the floodgates for more videos about defunct Australian attractions. I never see anybody discuss the old Looney Tunes boat ride or the Bermuda Triangle at Seaworld. Both have such quirky histories, like how there’s a guy on the Gold Coast who pops up on Facebook Marketplace every so often trying to sell one of the alien animatronics from the Bermuda Triangle ride. So strange.
  13. I don’t know if this counts, but I was a regular visitor of the old Big Brother house after the show closed production in 2014. I started going in when I was 15 back in 2016 after a friend and I realised how close it was to Coomera station. All my photos have been lost to time as they were taken on an iPod touch I can no longer access, but I’d say we were there upwards of 20 times up until it started getting trashed completely. It was very peaceful to hang out there. Security were incredibly relaxed about the whole thing. We would go a lot during the daytime and were never trespassed.
  14. The whole experience seems incredibly claustrophobic, much like the rest of USH. Hoping when Epic Universe opens they utilise the room and the land they’ve chosen effectively. That said, it looks like they’re adding additional floors to the experience in Orlando, so time will tell.
  15. I got to do a Cast Member preview back in late April last year, so I have a pretty unique perspective on the ride. I think I managed to get on it around 25 times in my time as a Cast Member during that preview window. I would show up before work and get on it 3 times before going to my shift. Overall, I think the ride itself is pretty bang-on with what Disney parks need. A moderately thrilling family coaster much like Slinky Dog Dash fits perfectly in EPCOT. The ride system is unique and provides really interesting thrills with how it spins. The backwards launch is also very exciting. My biggest issue with it, and much of what Disney is doing nowadays, is that it seems very barren on theming. Imagineering has been on a shoestring budget for a while now. It can be felt very heavily on Guardians. The pre show and actual ride seem very light on theming, with original concept art showing off animatronics and so on. It’s a shame the ride couldn’t be fully realised. All said, it’s a fine addition to EPCOT, if a little weird. I still hate the virtual queue system and glad I managed to ride it as much as did when I was working there. I hope EPCOT sorts it’s identity crisis out soon. I think I ate Chipotle for every meal through the summer. $11 burritos are ridiculously cheap when you’re earning $15 an hour. I could get through maybe 3/4s of one and save the rest for breakfast.
  16. At least, in the spirit of good fun and good news, they’re planning on tearing down that stupid light sign along the M1. Should redirect some of that much needed electricity to a place that so desperately needs it. https://7news.com.au/news/qld/controversial-gold-coast-public-art-installation-to-be-torn-down-c-10038377.amp
  17. I got to go on JDS as an 18 year old back in 2019 when I went with friends. Would absolutely never do it again though. Wasn't worth the weird looks from parents.
  18. My question is, where did all the old letters from the tower go? Wouldn’t mind some of them to go somewhere in the house.
  19. Most of them won’t even leave the state they’re in to visit a park in a neighbouring state. The idea of leaving the country would scare them half to death.
  20. I’ll tell you firsthand that Americans are incredibly envious of DCR, even with their swath of theme parks across the country. I experienced multiple firsts all of last year and worked at EPCOT and yet all I would hear from enthusiasts is about how they wish to ride DCR.
  21. I told myself I would brave it when I went with my partner in early September and it was under maintenance. The saving grace was that the park was essentially empty of people and we got on Iron Gwazi 8 times in a row. Still, one day I will get to go on a drop tower that faces the floor. One day!
  22. When I was in the US last year I frequently heard that our very own Giant Drop and Falcon’s Fury over at Busch Gardens Tampa are the two drop towers that have the most revered reputation. Lex Luther and Zumanjaro may be bigger record holders but they aren’t as consistent or fun to ride as Giant Drop. Didn’t get the chance to try Falcon’s when I was in Busch Gardens and I don’t think I ever will. That ride has some bad energy.
