  1. Wait wait wait... is the map suggesting you go into HSD and watch the parade on the screen in there??
  2. That's a big hole in the Summer entertainment line up/capacity.
  3. It's typical for the B grade Celebes (which those two are) to be much more diva like than the A list. Youd be amazed the places Geoffrey Rush ended up on the coast when pirates was filming. Total low key guy.
  4. Any suggestions for a new topic name? See I disagree with this Single Rider practice. Single rider is a gamble, you don't get to get on every cycle, that's what the main que is for. Sure if no SR seats come up in a few cycles let a couple on, and then back to waiting. That's kinda Disney practice.
  5. This is right, Doomsday is an attraction that did nothing to improve attendance. It's arguably a similar thing to Driving School, nice enough, people enjoy it but it's still pretty meh. Thing is it utilized an area that was basically nothing, and 100% improved the aesthetic of that area (regardless of whether you agree with the theme or not)... But driving school took what was an extremely valuable asset (a massive dark ride show building) and completely wasted it. There is no benefit to it being in that location at all, and it means no major ride will ever go there. Taking an in park show building and turning half of it into storage and the other half into a modestly done kiddie only attraction is one of the most short sighted and bad decisions the previous management ever made. About as stupid as taking their next biggest show building and turning it into Storm.
  6. And the fact that it's come to all this is friken sad. Something wrong in the world where you're assumed to be a pedo until proven otherwise
  7. You're also forgetting the huge numbers of guests where not everyone rides all the time or at all so there is someone "to look after your stuff". Geeze I remember back in the day when we were kids and we'd just leave all the families stuff in a location for the day... sadly better times.
  8. Well given the changes to the monorail were an insane knee jerk reaction from a questionable former management team following a completely not relatable accident at Disney World perhaps we could see some sanity in Monorail operations return at some point?
  9. Lets just hope that its better than the incoherent averageness that is the show these guys put on down at Vivid hey
  10. That poor car is 100 years old. She's certainly a trooper!
  11. Basically I think that what is is saying is that any customer that thinks $200 for an annual pass is too expensive is no longer the customer the park wants... and it's about time!
  12. The large headsets at Sydney were indeed active shutter. The IR transmitters for them were high up at the left and right extremes of the screen. But my question remains, how does the system of 3D imaging in use affect your field of vision?
  13. This doesn't make much sense... for one the large headsets were active (this means the lenses turn on and off to give you left/right eye image). Where as smaller glasses tend to be polarised (the way the lens is constructed you only see one half of the image all the time except every second frame is black effectively and it's all the time)... Why would the method of 3D change your field of vision causing you to have to move your head?
  14. Scooby is very reliable but there is just no way you can have what is essentially a high speed dark ride with so many blocks and cars and not have ride stoppages. Look at something like Space Mountain... same deal. Scooby's problem is it's non proportional fiction brakes which are not good at accounting for wear and car weight. So most of your faults are gonna be due to overspeed or stopping distance too long.
  15. Yeah also IMAX digital is not capable of producing an image the size of the Sydney screen. Even IMAX 70mm 3D could only do 2/3 of that screen because the light from the projector had to be split to two lenses and was further reduced by the polarising system (although IMAX used active LCD shuttered lenses which helped a lot here). A 'boring' IMAX 2D feature was an awe inspiring site to behold in the Sydney cinema. Even the projector was an amazing piece of technology and a behemoth, using 2 15000w lamps and a water cooling system. Sadly declining public interest and huge operating costs will likely see that as a dead system and one of those cases where technology will actually go backwards before it catches up. Also splitting this thread as it's gone WAY off topic.
  16. Shockwave has a unique restraint not consulted with or approved by the manufacturer correct?
  17. Posts like the above make me want to go back to not posting anything FYI
  18. I was about to post the exact same thing. Looks good... but why?
  19. It's a properly mental idea. Why go against world wide industry practice?
  20. So with the main component of White Christmas (the big lighting display) basically remaining unchanged since it started all those years ago... Does anyone feel it's time for the park to innovate with something new?
  21. Yay so Dreamworld will have yet another unfinished construction project in the middle of the park for Summer now. How does anyone in that place even have a job?
  22. It's a white collar market for sure. But I know people in the states that are at their local Top Gold every 3-4 weeks. There's like a bazillion trade based business on the GC and between those and all the 'wanker corporates' (no judgement) this will be a meka for 'client entertaining'. Add that to the Light Rail making transport from Surfers affordable and it will be a winner. I think most people just don't 'get it' because it's a radical concept that needs to be seen to understand what it's about.
