  1. What about a ride somehow made as a generic tribute to all martial arts movies, sort of in the way WWF is a generic tribute to all Westerns. Just imagine, have a chinese theatre in the hallways there would be posters for different martial arts films, and TVs showing highlights (same as WWF). You could then have the main queue area in the theatre with the switchbacks being formed by rows of seats (eg you would walk down one row, then turn around and walk down the next). You would then go out a little side door near the screen into a back alley where 'the fight' would take place (in other words you would board the flat ride) Im not sure how you would place everything though, maybe the ride itself could be built behind SDSC with the entrance facade somewhere in with the LW shop (probably would have to renovate a bit)
  2. I disagree, there have been some pretty major woodies coming out lately, such as El Toro, The Voyage, Balder, Thunderhead, Hades, Thunderbird, Kentucky Rumbler etc.
  3. I personally liked the Chinatown area, allthough it is a bit 2 dimensional, it did actually seem very realistic, and not unlike Chinatown in Melbourne. I think LW is pretty much right as it is, maybe the only improvement i would make would be to add a couple more smashed up cars (like the one by the shop) as leg choppers around the ride. Also, just a stupid little thing i noticed when i was at MW, and again in the photo gallery here. Whenever you look down the shortcut path from S:E into the LW plaza, the sign on the brown building is obscured in such a way that it looks like its saying R.S.L, http://www.roller-coaster.com.au/gallery/s...pe-wbmw/003.jpg there must be some people who look down and get excited about the prospect of pokies etc.
  4. WVTP could just be building a "local" park in their chosen locations...
  5. , lets not highjack this into a flowrider debate, the fact is some people dont really care wether its at DW, WWW or on top of the Sydney opera house and just want to ride it. But to just re-iterate what i said, just leave home as early as commitments permit (in other words, if there is nothing you have to do that morning, leave at 9:00), similarly, leave as late as commitments permit (anyway, the park closes at 5:00, if it takes 10 minutes to get out and an hour to drive home your still getting home at 6:10, the days are getting longer so you wouldnt be driving for very long in the dark, if at all. The main thing you should focus on is your day out, not the minor things either side.
  6. Theres nothing wrong with coming home in the dark... Unless you specifically wanted to go on flowrider you might as well go. Is there any chance of arriving earlier though, if you turn up before open you can get on all the major rides early while the park is empty. But yeah, might as well do it. Arrive at 11, leave at 5, thats a solid 6 hrs...
  7. If i might offer a couple of criticisims to help you refine it. Unfortunatley i dont have the program as it was on my old computer, and i cant find my back up disk, so i am going by the screenshots. -The track that leads into the brake run passes OVER the lead in to the first ground turn, this would help improve that last turn, because it is a drop down overbank it should have a peak at the end. -The radius of the top hat seems a bit too wide. -Maybe work at how well all the elements flow into each other, some parts look a bit RCTish in that they seem to be seperate. -The drop down overbank and the ground turn seem to be a bit too far apart (maybe some of the extra 100m went here. Though i have to say the top hat supports are excellent, they look very accurate. But i know what you are going through, a re-creation is not easy, just use tons of photos and you should end up with something nice.
  8. I think its OK. The architectural style of the place doesnt really appeal to me, it just doesnt look right, they should have looked to some of the newer shopping centers going up for an idea of how to do a bulky building without making it look ugly. Also i think some of the newer rides are good (Eg the 1 arm ferris wheel) but i think it treads over too much of the same ground of the past magic mountain rather than being truly innovative. Like with the waterslides, it would have been cool if they varied it a bit, rather than having 3 body slides, they could have prehaps done more, eg 2 body slides, a couple of raft slides, a cloverleaf slide and a high speed turbo tunnel, all these would have improved marketability. Dodgem cars and Bumper Boats are just the same thing again, nothing that special, but still an OK attraction. I have only seen a little bit of the mini golf course but it looks nice. Maybe a few new attractions could have been put in to improve more upon the previous Magic Mountain.
  9. I wonder if that will be the blue lagoon replacement attraction, i mean for DW an attraction doesnt have to even be in a themed area to be considered a part of it (Eg Farmyard Friends).
  10. I never realized you could copyright something you copied from someone else. Thanks for the articles though.
  11. Well arent you exaggerating yourself? i went back in January on the red train, and while it did bump you a bit, it didnt give a day long earache.
  12. Well WWW is also putting in a wave pool and raft slides, you could argue that they are copying WnW by doing that, why aren't you? As i have said a few times, nowdays a tornado is waterpark "must have", even if your competiton has one. Its a bit like how basically all major water parks have a wave pool, or a water playground with a tipping bucket, or 2 man raft slides, or a lazy river. A tornado is just another one of these standard attractions.
  13. Where did they cut her in half? On another note, did you see what sort of rafts they had. I have my fingers crossed we dont see any of those whirly wheels.
  14. Hey Zoggy, any chance of you making your siggy smaller, its way to wide and throws the whole website out of alignment.
  15. I doubt it, they havent even got a website up and running yet, but i imagine it would be no more than WnW entry, if not cheaper.
  16. Here you go, It seems to me like WnW has gone full circle with the extreme H20 zone, they got rid of a speed slide only to replace it again. Its the same deal with river rapids being removed and then replaced with sidewinders. Even Black Hole is really just a bare and compact version of Terror Canyon 1/2. Not that any of these rides are bad or anything, though it will be nice to have tornado to provide something new.
  17. Oh well, looked close enough, thought i bet somewhere they will have the announcements. IMO a better approach would be to have a 1.2x2.5m sign mounted on a turn on the stairs on the way up, use really big writing, and a huge warning triangle with a symbol for shallow water, and a yellow and black danger stripe border. There is no way anyone could ignore that, and it would communicate the message loud and clear.
  18. Isn't that a good thing??? Gooooo MW! What people seem to be forgetting is that allthough a new waterpark is going to open, people arent necessarily going to go to DW just because there is a waterpark there, in other words DW wont really benefit attendance wise, but WWW will. So saying DW doesnt need a new ride this year is a bit like saying that the opening of the extreme H20 zone at WnW means MW (next door) doesn't need a new ride for now. DW still has to stand on its own feet. And while DW doesnt need a coaster, they could definitley do with one since they are well behind MW in the coaster department, and it has been a while since their last new one.
  19. Well technically they are from the past since they were not taken in the present and future.
  20. You could have clicked "More Options", if you wanted to add an attachment without retyping your post.
  21. F******************************************** Ned Flanders: Well thats the loudest profanity i've ever heard.
  22. Well, it was always inevitable but its no real loss since its just progress and we are getting a better replacement anyway. Though one bad thing is the fact Australia now no longer has any tobbogan slides. Hopefully BB wont be back and that will leave that whole side of the park free to be developed.
  23. But who says you have to sacrafice good theming for loading convenience? I know its just a drop ride, but i disagree, i love good theming on anything and i dont feel they would be over doing it by theming it well, and while i wouldnt expect anything up to WWF or SDSC, the loading area should still look good, and the queue should have decent theming since its lower capacity could cause longer lines than their other thrill rides.
