  1. I found something I thought you guy might be interested in, See http://www.coasterdynamix.com It is a working model roller coaster kit that uses flexible connectable track segments, Extendable supports and a base system to hold it all together. The ride is a B&M inverter and It actually looks pretty life like. I really do want one but it has a price tag of around $650 so I may not be getting one in a hurry.
  2. What sort of stuff did the people do at WL, did you get to push any buttons on the ride (I remember being at SW once and the guy let me pull the levers on the tobbogan slide to release the riders down) or is it just a sit and watch affair or pointless jobs like lining bins, watering plants etc.
  3. Yeah, i think that an intamin Pelirious Plunge style ride would go down nice, but I dont think they will build one because moive world have already got a similar ride, and I imagine DW will be looking for unique rides, Hence the gyro swing. I also think a new looper will go down nicely, I am really just waiting for a park to do something really ground breaking, and blow the other parks out of the water, I wanna see a coaster war. If they wanted to build something low cost, then adding some new waterslides to Blue Lagoon could work. just a big timber tower with a thatched roof and 8 or so slides snaking from it would work well. Maybe something the park needs is a decent dark ride, maybe one with a doom type theme near TOTs entry would go down nice. On another note, I think the LIM section of TOT should be enclosed in a plastic/metal tube. It would make things quieter and it could be interesting riding through a space age tunnel. and in the section over Model T lane could be a timber walled section with metalic lining on the inside, and all those little white buildings under the track should be themed or painted.
  4. Yeah, I liked hangover better, especialy the floorless vehicles, that was my first ever ride on a ride that inverts you, and i loved it. I would be interested to ride on the one at LP, it has lap bars which would make for an interesting experience. it odes look ugly, they could have painted it tan to mach the theme, no leave it in space ship colours. Im heading to Melbourne next Saturday for the footy so I will ask mum if we can go before the game. DJs' right about the meshio site being useful, it made making thunderbolt for my dreamworld re-creation much easier.
  5. Our school does it in year 10 (im heading off to a civil engineering/surveying firm). I assume the minimum age for work experience is 14.75 years old, the minimum job age.
  6. Cool, good effort. you should post some of your favorites.
  7. Yeah, My first and last visit during the summer holidays just gone was really good. Demon was my first ever ride on a looper, (the last time I was at a park was way back in 1998 and I didnt want to ride back then) SP was awesome fun, and I admit I was a little nervous too, but it was great, I wanted a re-ride but we left at around 2 to do other stuff so I dint get to. Bush beast was good (I rode in the back seat) and SRR was really fun too, they seemed a lot wetter than Thunder river. I really am unhappy about WL's closure but at least I got to experience the park once.
  8. Yay, i got it for my Birthday Today. its really good but the terrain editor is a a pain to use. Tonight Ill have a proper go and make my first coaster....
  9. I havent been there, Is it any good? I have seen that it has some nice flats and turbo mountain looks okay. I remember they had the opening of rampage on rove a couple of years back

  11. He was probably just counting the two axis of the ride as two seperate rides.
  12. I suppose a gravity powered on would work quite well, and I doubt matinace would be too much of an issue. You could create really cool courses with dual lift hills and steep downhill curves to provide maximum amounts of "wall time" If you did the severly enough the car could even complete a full barrel roll. just thinking about one of these really makes me wanna ride one You really do have a cool idea.
  13. Heres one I drew up last night, It is a front view. The pod holds 6 passengers, one of them controlls speed with foot pedals, the roll of the pod is controlled by a lever on the restraint. There are four sets of wheels, this means the car could run at any angle, upside down or right way up and two swivelling wheels attached to motors that make the car roll. (The top and bottom one turn in opposite driections to make the car roll around its center of gravity) There is also a computer mounted onboard that helps control the pod and a transponder that is used for blocking etc. Power is delivered by two electrified rails inside the pipe, a ring of metalic brushes mounted around the vehicle near the rear is what recieves the power. a non powered version would work, but I had drawn a powered one up already. In a gravity controlled one, the roll mechanisim would be modified so it could be done manually without electric motors. Here it is:
  14. Sorry, I should have worded my post better, Whem I said steering, I sort of meant the roll of the vehicle, Shaun said he would have it so the car would swing up on the sides of the tunnel, and thats what I meant. The roll could be controlled by a swiveling tyre that would force the vehicle to roll, and the swiiveling of the roll tyre would be controlled like car steering. I am assuming the vehicle would take up the whole of the tunnel, so the car could quite happily run at any angle, wether upside down or right way up. If perforated steel was used there would be plenty of ventalation , light inside the tubs, and people could easily ee what was goiing on inside. If you wanted to make dark sections an sheild would go around the outside to darken things up a bit. The ride would look quite cool I think, It would just be a a big pipe twisting and turning around, waterslides are essentally big tubes and they are not ugly so I see no problems there. In terms of power supply, There would be a ring shaped contact around the vehicle that would make contact with an electrified rail, providing power. When I get some time Ill try designing a vehicle an track.
  15. You should try and make your idea,I t wouldnt require as much know how as coasters etc, just make a simple battery powered buggy with an accelerator and brake, and a lever to control lateral motion, the lateral motion could be controlled by a simple steering system. for wheels, there is a very simple solution to prevent roughness, use inflatable tyres. The tunnel could be just a metal duct made out of the stuff they make public bin holders out of, you know, that perforated metal. I wonder waht you could call the ride, The tube twister maybe?
  16. Oh well, Their ride looks pretty cool, but their ride resembles more of a waterslide type ride. mine was more of a boat ride with turbulence and fountains. It would be fun to have more of those touring around. Your Idea sounds prety cool, Maybe a park could actually have a JB themed ride about that part of the movie. A ride similar to what you thought of is made by wiegand, It is called a bobkart ,http://www.wiegandslide.com/en/bobkart.htm but their ride is not fully enclosed but rather just a semicircle channel like on the tobbogan run at the big banana.
  17. Leaving the Two loops as a chilling reminder is a great idea. They are sort of a park icon. Jeez that bolt looks in pretty poor nick, Surprised the thing didn't collapse.
  18. I was kind of talking to Jaggie, but seeing what you have to say will be interesting too.
  19. LOL, good one Daniel, Yeah, I bet the mega drop will be a Huss Shot 'n' Drop, which would be pretty cool, If it is one hopefully it will make its way down south for the Melbourne Show. On the other hand, you may be unlucky and find it is just a shock dropper ride, which is like an S&S frog hopper.
  20. Sounds like a good day was had by all, Any photos from the meet? I assume nobody went for an enema and face spraying on the waterslides at the beach because of the cold weather? Oh cool, 100 posts.
  21. Its been more than 2 weeks since you said you would post the article, Are you ever going to post it?
  22. So it will be a completly new site and URL, not just Total thrills with an improved design. Looking foward to it.
  23. The Demon defintely wont be going to DW, I emailed them and they said they can confirm that they havent bought it.
  24. So your saying the council is setting up a park, sounds cool, but would a council take good care of it or would it be WL all over again? Do you know where in Port Maquarrie the land is for it? On another note, does anyone remember the park that was apparently going to be built in Goulburn. It was going to be called Pictura or something.
  25. Atari have released some screens for Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. See http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/roller...oon3/index.html the game looks pretty cool and the screens so far show arrow loopers and a few flat rides, and the guests all look different. Oh and you can finally ride the rides. The graphics are fairly smooth. It looks as though we will still have the same ride building system as the coaster layouts still look the same. Heres hoping that the game wont wind up like sim coaster, but most of the graphics look pretty true to life except for the purple cobra slide. Im looking foward to the release.
