100% it would have caused some changes, however to what extent I wouldn't be sure. I'd say right after the incident things would have been very strict for a while before loosening off a little bit. However I feel that the parks are still being a bit over the top, how much of that comes down to corporate (and staff just not caring) or procedures enforced by over-cautious insurance is hard to say. I'd say it's a combination of both, but also possibly due to workplace culture. When you have management that actually cares it shows, because staff want to actually be there if they are being treated well and respected. Something that the Dreamworld management seem to be very good at (And having worked at MW during the time that they were running things, they actually really do care about their staff)
-
It wouldn’t surprise me if it’s a trial/they consider implementing it at their other parks too. I’ve noticed more “eftpos only” at Movie World than there was previously especially in Mobiles.

If card is the only option they cant add a surcharge
-
They mean 'We don't need to maintain floats, pay staff to manage cash/reconcile registers at the end of the day, or pay bank fees for cash processing - and we get to add a card surcharge if we want so it costs us nothing'.

King Claw - Larger Replacement Intamin Gyro Swing for Dreamworld
TV15 replied to Tricoart's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I don't believe this is possible. I think it might be due to the rockwork tunnel between the overbank hill and the loop and the rockwork between the midcourse and the twisted horseshoe roll clearance envelope. Taking a quick look at other blue fire clones none of them seem to have a max height. -

@Spotty i'm curious, how much do you think these changes to load times are because of management vs post 2016 safety laws? And to add to it enthusiasm working with friends (like your story above) vs i guess the i don't want to be here days everyone has.

Is it possible that because Steel Taipan launches backwards, it's far more likely that taller riders could hit their heads on the seat in front? -
The supervisor didn't leave when I was there, they stayed behind the panel. I was the second loader on the exit side, this was back in the days of the single lap bar. Many good memories, back in the early 2010's when IMO operations and the overall park was probably at it's peak.
-
Each one needs to be checked, but it's done by the attendant and the supervisor in parallel, so in theory it wouldn't have an impact. I never noticed much difference between operating it pre and post refurbishment. You'll never see that happening now; the procedure changed several years ago and now the supervisor can't leave their panel to check the harnesses until the other train is stopped in the brakes.
-
Given back in the day when roadrunner had the original trains, myself and one of the supervisors actually managed to beat the capacity that the ride was stated in the manual (700 a hour with 2 trains) I very much doubt it. I was pretty much running down the platform to check those lap bars and doing our best to make sure that by the time the train was coming into the brakes we would be dispatching the next train. Was certainly a work out back in the day lol. It was even funnier when the ride then faulted because we were dispatching too fast and the computer crapped out lol.

Despite the hiccups earlier in the week, it seems they’ve managed to get everything back open that wasn’t already closed

195 cm height cut off is a little disappointing, guess that ill never get to ride it as superman and jet rescue is already a coin toss whether or not I can ride depending on what shoes I wear to the parks Intamin really gotta design their flats to accommodate up to 200cm consistent with everyone else in the industry, they’re the only manufacturer out there that has it this restrictive. From what I understand it’s not a clearance thing but it’s a fitting your body within the restraint thing, the logic is that your head needs to be up to the head rest. There’s quite a bit of folk that are going to get turned away at the gate (Upon looking up a few other big Intamin gyro swings around the world there seems to be no height cutoff, so what’s the go here)

VRTP Ticketing Update Late 2025
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to Park Addict 93's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I don't mind that sort of scale for LPS which can be ghost towns on certain days. Providing a large incentive for people to book early helps them plan their rosters well enough in advance for staff to cover the necessary loads, while rostering less staff if sales are low for a particular day and rotating attractions rather than opening all attractions all day. Unfortunately the side effect is someone who does attend on the spur of the moment means they pay more for a worse product, but LPS has a small workforce and they need to ensure they balance this where they need it the most. Village on the other hand has no excuse to be running alternating attraction schedules or understaffing attractions given their attendances tend to be a lot higher and should cover the bare minimum. Unfortunately that's all they ever seem to deliver. -
And it quite literally lines up with the price reduction for day tickets. They're quite literally charging $10 extra for additional entertainment.

Movie World Maintenance Schedule 2025
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to TV15's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Geez that thing must be really broken. They're going to have to work all night on it to bring it back into Village operations standards. -
I don't care who you were replying to, and i'm not assuming your comments were in response to mine. However the moment you made the argument that the WNW tagline was ok because it was true - I knew at some point in the ongoing debate you would reference TRRR... and you did exactly what I knew you would. But it's ok if it's true - you said so yourself? The point is there's no difference and it's all semantics. By saying "look at us we are the biggest and we are the best" they are saying "look at the competitor park - it's smaller, and shit" I call both parks out on their shit, and I have no links to either park. I play devils advocate when you unreasonably shit on the very company you bought shares in, but I have always called it like I saw it. On the contrary, a little friendly rivalry and one-upmanship is the most likely way you will get your wish. In the same way that one park offering a $99 annual pass forced the hand of the other to do the same, the same vein that one park building a big thrill ride to attract guests leads the other to respond. The joke about Village always being closed for maintenance rings true. Because it is and has been for some time. It should spur them to be better. At any rate - like your argument on WWW - you've made your position abundantly clear that you don't like little theming details (at this rate your version of a dark ride would literally be a carousel with no lights in a dark room) - So in short, we get it, we understand what you're trying to say, most people in the discussion disagree with you, and its unlikely either side is going to change their mind - so let's just stop going round in circles now - given we're likely going to see technical rehearsals any day now, k?
