  1. Kinda sad saying goodbye to the old girl. Had my first ride on TOT back in 1998, and whilst she’s certainly been in a state of decline for many many years, I still love the rush, force and weightlessness on the drop. 2 rides today to see her off, and was great to see such engaged ride ops, and hearing claps and cheers at the end of each cycle. Thanks for the memories TOT.

  2. Congrats to Dreamworld on getting the ride running for the whole day with no interruptions and fast dispatches!

  3. Dreamworld will never be the same again. Tower of Terror revolutionised Dreamworld and is by far the most influential investment made in the park. Despite it’s problems in the later years, it served the park very well.

  4. Love that Dreamworld left the ride open for staff past closing!

  5. As much as I love DC Rivals, Tower of Terror 2 will always be the best of the two in my opinion.

  6. The one pictured is the DW ToT. Intamin's modern day version of the ride is this one at Ferrari World. The loading is faster with the switch track and also the cars have greater capacity with both forward and backward seats. BUT when you compare the ride to the new Coaster coming to DW, this new version of ToT really doesn't have anything that the new Coaster does + another one trick pony is not what DW needs. I wish they could have come up with an affordable and effective way to salvage ToT, sadly 2019 is one for the DW history books.

  7. Probably cheaper to refurb the existing rides than to rip and replace, and they're clear on their decision here. TOT was a first of its kind and record breaking installation, I feel they would need to do that again to have the same long lasting impact that tot did. But given what's out there now that are holding the records I'd say they are no longer within reach for us in Oz.

  9. Fright Nights is over for another year. I attended the first two nights and @Tim Dasco was at all 3. The first two nights were extremely wet and cold. The scare actors were great and the maze was a step up from last season. The problem with setting a maze in a moat is that it tends to collect a bit of water when it rains. The staff were friendly and into the event despite the miserable weather. Unfortunately, our Friday was a bit of a write off with plenty of showers and waiting for about 45 mins to get our food. There was a complete mess up with our orders in the tiki bar when they gave away our two slabs of pizza to someone else. They said we’d get some extra fries with our order which would be delivered in just a few minutes. When it did arrive, it was two small pizzas, which they then made complimentary. 10 minutes later our proper slabs arrived. Luckily, we had some drinks and good company to pass the time, so it wasn’t a problem. The attendance went up every night and I’m sure @timdasco can tell you about the rest.

  10. I definitely think the park needed a ride like DD and having the villains area just adds to the ride as a whole. That area of the park had no use and the park was lacking a flat ride. It lacked that ‘filling’ attraction. And the villains area as a whole, is great and adds to the whole ride experience and theming. Yes the park definitely needs to invest in an overhaul of the kids area, but DD was a definite must

  11. After waiting it out for 2 hours, at 4:45 I managed to get on. Somber moment, I remember the day it opened, so glad I got one more ride. Fingers crossed it lasts another day.

  12. The villains unleashed area is fantastically themed, the best cohesive themed area they’ve put together and caters for a wide demographic. Yes DD is too intense to be considered a family ride but the area as a whole is well executed, popular and fun for all. It wasn’t long after opening that the payment to activate the interactive elements was removed. It’s been free for well over a year.

  13. Some business shut up shop during schoolies because it keeps paying customers away. What schoolies spend money on. 1. Accommodation 2. Alcohol. 3.Noodles.

  14. In light of it's closure, would it be worth Dreamworld having another reverse free fall coaster built? Take into consideration; The Dreamworld Tower would most likely have to be rebuilt. Possibly, they could demolish the tower, and rebuild it with Falcon Fury gondolas on a new drop tower and another Tower of Terror that reaches a high speed and height. It would come at a massive cost but I think it could be worth it in the future. This is very wishful thinking, but interested to hear your opinions.
