Can confirm that Green Lantern is getting a repaint and work to the card done. Track is currently being pressure hosed.9 points

Honestly, I think the seriousness went out the window when the suggestion of a wheel in main street wasn't liked. It's all been pretty downhill from there. Much like the land levels from the front of the park.3 points

Just blow up central park station and install a huge wheel3 points

We bitch when the park doesn't listen to us on here but also refuse to actually approach the park services and raise the issue. Welcome to 20203 points

Just a quick update for Feb at Movie World Green Lantern is closed AA is still closed for no viable activity. It isn’t listed as closed at the parks entrance, but it definitely is Fencing was around the hut for months and now it’s a permanent wall Road Runner closed too Fencing was damaged during the recent floods so it is being repaired2 points

If they were to remove the log ride and they were to install a wheel, I think the wheel would could replace it in that location. It’s by the creek, amongst the trees, doesn’t directly look onto the Main Street roofs, views of corroboree and the new coaster. But honestly, I don’t think a wheel would be right for DW. SW definitely, but not for any of the other parks. We’ve seen the view from the top of the GD and honestly it’s nothing exciting.2 points

This is just it though - if you aren't going to the park, this isn't bothering you.2 points

Its a bit sad that one of the final bits of 'non ride' theming has been left to rot to a point where its better to hide it behind a wall? - that thatching isn't hard to maintain if you stay on it.... but what irritates me more is that you can see the concrete wear and tear from where the park bench sat (which seems to be missing in the above photo) - a metre to the left of the flowerpot. That concrete is approaching 30 years old, and the exposed aggregate shows it. Even in this fairly recent (JDS) streetview photo from google, the thatch looks old, but it doesn't look horrible. they could have saved that (although I have no idea what they use that building for)2 points

its a bad look. it is cost cutting. But so long as they are separately ticketed parks, with separate gates, and not an 'all in one' such as the experiment they tried previously, the need for tickets to be checked on entry is required. The mere fact that the parks share a fenceline (and have a gate) makes it convenient to park hop, but` not required. Wonderland used to have an 'in park' gate between the park and the wildlife park, both in HBL and at Lakeside next to the dodgems. Both of these were subsequently closed, with all entrances into the 'second gate' made by going out the main park gates, and then going back into the 'other' park by scanning your entry ticket. (the gates were a little closer to each other though)... So this isn't a new concept. Park Hopping from Disneyland to California adventure, requiring the scanning of your park ticket is a requirement, and nobody is whinging about that... TL:DR - Yes, they share a border. But two separately ticketed gates aren't REQUIRED to have a go-between gate, and if it costs them more money to have staff sitting there all day (especially in off peak, and on cold, rainy days), than it does in guest goodwill and complaints, and they're prepared to weather those complaints - then who cares? (And if the answer to that rhetorical question is that "you care" - then complain, next time you're at Guest Services - if enough of you do, then i'm sure a receptive management who actually care what their customers think about them will be only too happy to consider changing this policy.)2 points

@Gold Coast Amusement Force this is cost cutting. It's done to cut cost. Drugs are bad. I'm a guest not a company so if it looks bad it's bad.2 points

I hope the current management can turn things around and I’m trying not to be critical but all DW are doing is reacting and not being proactive. SV fell into DW’s lap. New Coaster fell into DW’s lap. WWW purchased the cheapest public pool slides they could. The shaded “non-shaded” seating area does nothing to replace the Wipeout. The new amphitheatre. Never happened. GONE! The new lazy river. Never happened. GONE! Wipeout. GONE! TOT. GONE! V8 cars thingy. GONE! Log Ride.??????????? DW slapping in a concrete path with no thought to it. The list goes on, but I think the new coaster will be telling sign to see if DW have a plan or is it going to be MDMC all over again and dumped wherever it fits, without caring if it distracts from the area or looks shit.2 points

I don't know how we went from "Buildings not matching" to "put a ferris wheel in there too". But open to suggestion. IDK i think Spotty and T🅱one are right, at least if you put it in the middle of the park, you get an interesting view on all sides. If its at the main entry, half the view would be over the entrance to the car park.2 points

I really like the good old traditional Carousel (Merry-Go-Round) as you first walk into a park. California's Great America is a good example:2 points

Not going to lie, I think where the TOT station is would be a great spot for a Ferris Wheel, right between the two family areas. One of the wheels like the one in Brisbane as AlexB suggested, or even a smaller 50m version would be a great fit. You could landscape the area nicely around it, and would open up the area between Dreamworks, Tiger Island and ABC Kids World. I think placing it there, and doing up the front area as others have suggested with a DECENT fountain display. One that springs to mind honestly is the main fountains that Kings Island has. This behind the Dreamworld Globe and maybe a few nice shady Palm Trees in Main Street would work really nice. I also agree move the fairy shop to the Dreamworks / ABC Kids area. I mean honestly, you could even retheme it to trolls (which I know has been done, but is still relevant and could tie in well with Dreamworks) and then you would open that spot up for BuzzSaw access and the new coaster. Repaint the Candy Shop to make it not quite as bright like what they did with the ice cream parlour and I think Main Street would be a very nice area to relax in. Once this is done, then look at fixing up the Giant Drop's theming / queue area and open up the moto coaster area. I think the biggest issue I have with the motocoasters appearance is the huge bulky shop that is at the entrance. If you moved the shop to where the old food outlet was (which lets face it, is unlikely to ever reopen again as a food outlet) and knocked down that area you could really open the space up and even redo the entry (or retheme the ride) and it would make a huge difference to that whole area I feel. Especially once the Tower of Terror's launch track is gone. Give the ride a repaint and you honestly have the whole front of the park looking spick and span again. I can wish haha!2 points

For me to raise the issue with guest services would require me to go to DW in the first place.1 point

..and which park is it we're talking about cost cutting, and not caring about guest experience?1 point

This looks bad but it is not. From a company standpoint, it helps. That staff member could be utilised within another area of the park. Plus that would not be a fun position to be in. It is not like the old days of going through the old surf shop. Sure you gotta walk back out the front (you'll be doing that anyway) and through into the water park entry but this ain't a deal-breaker.1 point

Guessing if I had girls they would have too. Thankfully my son is more interested in the DC stores at MW, which at least hold my interest too1 point

Someone, or even multiple people should go to jail for what happened, but sadly, it doesn't seem like they are going to hand down any personal reccomendations. Multiple instances of negligence and poor management contributed to their deaths. It was shown during the investigation that, based on their own processes the ride shouldnt have opened. It was shown that a few thousand dollars was put ahead of guest safety. Nobody took any accountability for what happened and the lowest denominators, the ride operators had blame heaped upon them by management and supervisors who had loads to answer for themselves. Feel so sorry for the families that went through this, have lost loved ones, but also the staff members traumatised by the incident too. The company let everyone down and even another 20 million in civil lawsuits is not enough retribution for management all the way to the top putting personal motives and arrogancy, along with ultimately $$$$ ahead of the personal safety of their guest and staff. New industry standards and compliance have followed, but the laws implemented following this tragedy that allowed site operators to be held personally liable, following the deaths that occurred at eagle farm race course during the same period, should be utilised against the operators (those in charge of critical park decisions, not ride operators) and management who failed so completely here too. They prosecuted the guy who was to blame for providing no escape for his workers who were ultimately crushed under concrete tilt panels they were errecting, but this seems to have dragged on and on with no action from worksafe qld and its just sickening. Was it a wake up call? Yeah, it provided new jobs, more middle management to see compliancy in an effort to bring an entire industry up to a standard. Still leaves a bad taste in your mouth when it feels like justice hasnt been served though.1 point

It seems like the recent trend, Pantheon at Busch Gardens Wiliamsburg, and Ice Breaker at SW Orlando are both under construction that do the same flip flop launch.1 point

I’m with everyone else, been a regular to DW for near on 15 years and have never been inside the fairy store. Do they only sell fairy stuff? Seems a niche demographic for such a large store. I also don’t know how busy it gets1 point

AlexB can you show it as a box on nearmap, not just a line, so we get a truer sense of the impact on main street Leave that space as it is.1 point

A ferris wheel would be better suited between the two kids areas where tower occupies. The idea of a giant wheel immediately as you enter the park isn't exactly something I'd like to see upon first entering the park.1 point

Correct. The argument that current generation isn’t interested and therefore doesn’t need quality and detail is false. This is being proven time and time again but the latest offerings by Disney and Universal. They HAVE to keep outdoing each other because it’s been shown when one takes immersion to another level, they lose business to the other. immersion and detail is key.1 point

Hang on, why does a theme park have to have an overall theme? Not many parks do one theme overall because it gets boring and you run out of ideas....Not saying you can't, but few parks do. Like, Ferrari Land in Spain has quite a limited palette to work with and results in weaker attractions that are shoehorned to fit the theme. I thought theme parks can have several distinctive themed lands. Eg the way Phantasialand has Africa, China, Klugheim, Wild West etc. Some parks might be a bit weak with their lands, but that's how I define if. Amusement Parks are just more generic, and more just (usually) present stuff in an attractive manner, eg Adventure Park Geelong, Hersheypark. Adventure World is a tricky one, because although it has themed zones, the park is so spread out and has large areas of no theme that it ends up feeling like an amusement park when actually there.1 point

Id say any combination of the trusses, battens, rafters or purlins are probably rotten through and the whole lot might need replacement. It looks like they put the thatch over marine ply or something similar, so it was more about look than ever being dense enough to help keep the weather out. Remember the huge pine tree that used to be there on the other side? It cracked the walls of the building and lifted the path, so i wouldnt be surprised if the whole thing is condemned. Which of course means village will just cover it up and let it degrade futher by pretending its not there until someone realises its a fire or safety risk or something.0 points

The decision to close the park to park access rather than pay for a single staff member to man it strikes me as a current example of putting money over guests. (photo taken this past Saturday)0 points
