  1. Apparently in the comments, Expedition Theme Park explained that he wanted to focus this video on the creation of the park and would do another linking video that concerns the TRR incident and the later years. This then makes the title of the video that much more of a misnomer- given that there were very few troubles in its early years and up to the late 1990"s, early 2000's , it was arguably seen as the industry leader on the Gold Coast. *Edit* I messaged him on the channel with the same query and Expedition Theme Park has now changed the title , removing the "Troubled History" from the title. That seems like a very realistic change and far better suits this video. If he does a later video focusing on the TRR incident, i would have no issues using "troubled" in the title. Kudos to him for listening to public feedback.

  2. Here is a video from the Australian Coaster Club which shows the slab being poured for the new Leviathan coaster. Slab for Leviathan being poured

  3. To add to that, there are plans afoot to turn this railway corridor into the Sydney Harbour Highline, after the line is deemed not needed/required. This is a great plan and will preserve one of the lines for heritage trains and events whilst also turning the other line into a combined walkway and cycleway for the full length of the corridor. Perhaps when this occurs LPS could negotiate to recieve part of the land that the sidings finish at, thereby enlargening Maloneys Corner and making it a more even square set of land for the park to utilise.. (See below pics with circled area) I think this is a brilliant idea, it preserves the area as a Railway heritage line and corridor , allowing hertiage events to still occur on the corridor, but it also opens up the line to open publc walking and riding space, creating a unique public asset that people will travel to use and walk. It will also link up to the rest of the attractions for North Sydney such as LPS , the North Sydney Pool and Bradfield park and also provides a great link to to Milson Point Railway station and Luna Park ferry terminal, meaning that its easy access will make it readily available for the casual visitor or the long term local alike. 4. Interesting, some factual inaccuracies and mainly rehashing information readily available. I find the title “the troubled history of DW” strange and somewhat silly however, given that apart from the final 2mins touching on the ownership changes, incidents and Longhursts’ dream/plan not occurring, the remainder of the video has no relevance to “troubled history”.

  5. This is EXACTLY the kind of idea that I've had in mind. I just want the River Caves back and I can't anywhere else in the park they could fit. The Big Top has taken up a lot of space (not that I begrudge it's existence; it's been great for many major events and a good revenue raiser for the park and ensures that it remains viable for many generations to come. I'd just like a better balance between rides and venues).

  6. And they had commenced construction on their 'adventure river' too. they need a wet ride. they need a replacement to substitute RHLR and TRRR as a fun, family, all ages mild thrill you can get wet on.

  7. Teens maybe not, but the family market cannot just be ignored. My son is 7 and is starting to move into coasters and loves SDSC, RR, MDMC, but he’s just as happy going on a ride on the DW Express. Im not in the paddle boat industry, but can imagine sourcing one would be ridiculous expensive, and i seriously doubt there is any chance one would return, however if it wasn’t so financially challenging, I think a river transverse with a show would be a massive crowd puller. Kids would love it as it’s unique, families would love something they could do together, parents and adults would love the chance to relax for 15-20mins, and even the Z’s would probably appreciate the insta and tiktok opportunities it would bring, again given its uniqueness

  9. That would be a poor and shortsighted decision if they went that way. They haven’t shown to be adverse to running a water based ride post-TRR, they did run RHLR after the accident. Given WWW is back to be being a separate gate, they need a water ride of some sort in the main park. Summer on the Gold Coast doesn’t equate to not having any water attractions

  10. The problem with the island is that it's now classed as a wetland. Getting approval and provisions in place to build something like a coaster on that is a nightmare and a half. With the rails still sunk in the river though, it does make things a little easier to to put another boat style ride. The whole thing is essentially just a write off though which is why it's become the way it has.

  11. That would be up to the government of the day to decide as it is crown land. Its possible and if it coincided with the advent of the HighLine, then it would probably be a good compromise. I didnt say it would happen but you can bet your bottom dollar that LPS would be looking at that as a way of increasing their footprint. And seriously , given the land in question and what could be looked at, I definitely think that it would be a attractive compromise. Agree that there would be resident actions against it, but you cannot rule it out and LPS would be absolutely silly not to look at it.

  12. It’s a real shame the full dream of John was never completed. I really wish he had kept the park because it would really be a stand out and would literally be like our very own Disney.

  13. Not so much scrapped, but possibly delayed. TBC.

  14. But Leviathan isn’t/wasn’t the final phase of the Atlantis development... maybe Trident has been scrapped due to the economic downturn and diminished revenues...

  15. Who died and made you mod? The last thread didn't stay on topic, and this one probably won't either once things have been discussed to death. That's not a scrim, thats TFH\ATF. its temporary fencing. I'm not 100% but i think worksafe rules require the fencing around the ride envelope when the usual safety barriers may not be in position, even if the park is closed, to prevent anyone not meant to be on site from entering the work area. I'd look to Skeet for confirmation, but he seems to be AWOL.

  16. I don't think the Dreamworld is going to go near a water ride (rapids, logride, boat) for a very long time.. maybe some kind of water coaster like Pulsar or StormCoaster could be possible.

  17. 1943, war-era sydney is not the 2020 sydney of today. You don't need to store 8 car passenger trains on prime harbour-side land... ...But you might as well because the entire siding is protected under NSW Heritage listings: https://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/heritageapp/ViewHeritageItemDetails.aspx?ID=4801022

  18. Can confirm that Premier rides no longer offer the Liquid Coaster- apparently by all accounts they were a maintenance nightmare which precipitated their earlier than expected closure.

  19. The majority of VRTP staff who are on the jobkeeper payments will resume work this week. Most will be on a minimum of 4 shifts per week, with management ensuring they use every dollar of the payment. Last week Raging Waters Sydney staff returned to work as well completing cleaning, painting and training duties.

  22. BSS was closed for maintenance before the park shut. So I would say they’ve completed the maintenance and just haven’t removed the fencing because there is no point in doing so. There isn’t a need to spend money on the labour to remove/relocate the fencing when it isn’t essential right now.

  25. Will be 2 trains likely. It's a blue fire clone, but not all versions actually have brakes or catwalks fitted to the "MCBR", the train just coasts through a flat section of track. https://rcdb.com/10838.htm#p=51056

  26. Currently at best it's abstract theming. A Vortex is one directional where SW have broken all the rules of the universe. Not only is it not spinning correctly it's egg-shaped. I'm sure it looked great on paper but I will be viewing the ride from a front on perspective. Anyway I will leave my final judgement to the end but I do have a bad feeling.🤨 Yes @Gazza I understand what SW was going for. All SW need to do now is place a few inflatable tube guys on top of the Vortex walls and we're ready to go.
