  1. So a child, who refuses to speak to professionals or any family about the incident, will only be able to move on with her life once she receives monetary compensation? what a load of rubbish. i am not for one second arguing that this girl doesn’t deserve compensation for losing her mother, she absolutely does, but she is a child and no money is going to bring back her mum or help her process what happened. her family should be less focused on campaigning for her to get cash, and focus on her mental well being - if it’s true she has been internalising the events of the day for 4 years, and not spoken to anyone, that can be completely destructive for her long term quality or life.

  2. She can get help whenever she wants, but if you dont co-operate with the requests for assessments, which requires you to engage with the health professionals they want to send you to, then this is what happens. They just let it drag along, doing the absolute minimum they should be doing so they can turn around in court and make it look like they have been doing all they can and the other party isnt responding or meeting all their requests. Anyone who has had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with an injury claim through workcover will tell you how terrible it is to deal with. Its entirely heartless with very little care for continuing damage caused by the process. People need to stop saying ardent ardent ardent and start by finding out who their insurance underwriter is for the public liability insurance which will be controlling everything.

  3. I will fix your bias for you so it makes sense. Well, I reckon they might lose more than just the two. Sure they can announce plans now. But I am thinking they are going to lose a decent attraction within the next three years (Buzzsaw is a given, Giant Drop and Sidewinder/Gold Coaster/Cyclone are in the last decade of their lives.) You gotta save money. VRTP Ardent is brilliant at closing things or reducing staffing levels and never answering why. Arkham Wipeout has been was closed for a bloody long time with no explanation. Same with slides over at WnW Mine Ride/BRC/Kevil Hill/Paddlewheeler/Buzzsaw for durations of time. They haven't been able to conduct anymore decommissioning at SW DW with Vikings Log Ride apart from removing the control system and the station braking system, Boats are long gone also. Suppose we gotta wait and see. But the issue here is they don't want to close anything. They don't want to be caught with their pants down. But it'll happen.

  4. The new colours, in my opinion, blends well in with WhiteWaterWorld and just has that really nice vibrance coming from it definitely in those sunny days it will look really good. I can't wait for the final result of this coaster it has really been in a desperate need of a repaint for way over 5 years

  5. She should get help when she's ready. She should also be compensated. Ardent through their actions have linked the two, potentially causing more trauma. If she doesnt want, or is unable to talk about seeing her mum and 2 other family members being killed right in front of her, maybe respect that but still give her the compensation she's due? This shit isn't hard. Also she's 14. She knows what money is, don't treat her like an idiot.

  6. I didn’t say that. At all. She is a child, she at this point doesn’t know what is best for her. That’s an adult/professionals decision to make. Once again I have never labelled anyone a baby. Nor have a said she just wants money. I doubt she has cognisance of the money situation. I find it offensive that you are putting words into my mouth that I didn’t type.

  7. He isn't saying that. He's implying that in the video the issue is that she won't speak to anyone or seek help but needs monetary compensation pushed forward. I think Brad is saying they should be more focused on helping her mentally than getting a payout faster. She isn't going to be more accepting of the incident once they pay her out, so although its reasonable for them to want the money, its not going to resolve the issue brought forward in the video. That's what I think is meant anyway.. The issue of her coming to accept what happened and to be able to speak about it isn't directly going to be solved by a payout.

  8. I wish the nauseating react was back. Was there really a need for that? Considering half the changes you made were utter bullshit? Both parks have had closed rides without explanation. Both parks are brilliant at closing things with little explanation. Both parks have reduced staffing levels. The Log Ride closed a few months ago, Vikings Revenge closed years ago - there’s a major difference. Maybe before critiquing other people’s ‘bias’, take a look at your own.

  11. Having been up in QLD since mid June and spending some time at the parks since reopening, I must say the colour they picked for the track is nice! Driving back to the Sunshine Coast tonight from the GC, it looked good and the white supports really make it stand out... Shame the actual coaster is rubbish.

  12. They can give her money but that leaves them open to still being sued unless its all settled legally. Nobody does that. They go on legal advice and dont admit to anything unless they were told to. This is nothing new though honestly. It all becomes a numbers game and the whole situation stinks. They literally want a report that says this girl will have a diagnosis for the rest of her life so they can calculate what the impact on her earning ability will be, maybe throw a little in for anguish and suffering, then try to beat that figure down to the lowest point an agreement could be reached. Ardent said they would provide support for the recovery process and it honestly reads like they are, but that its not being utilised. Health assessments are fluid and can change rapidly, even if it wasnt an insurance company making you jump through even more hoops. If the other family members have settled with the company already, the best advice would seem to be to take some of the settlement money and engage a law firm on behalf of the girl and serve ardent and their insurers an notice of intent and have their whole team of PR staff run a negative publicity campaign that will make them wish they had of settled years ago for pretty much anything the family demanded. The law firm handles everything and ardent and the insurers are left to pickup their fees and associated costs in the judgement or any settlement. Playing devils advocate here a little... i would not be surprised if thats whats already happening. Surely there would have been plenty of offers to represent the family so they didnt have to go it alone legally.

  13. Have to remember too, its insurance companies and lawyers who will be dictating whats going on. Maybe not specifically ardent. I imagine the stalemate could be the lack of any resolution or progress with the psychologists etc. Legal people deal in absolutes and they want definition. If theres no discussion happening and no support being utilised, may struggle to have doctors put their names to any diagnosis and form any opinion on her welbeing which wont sit well with insurance companies.

  14. Again, it was in the context of 'This is what we're doing with our capex'. You can expect what ever you want and I'm happy for you, but that's the answer 🙂 As for the next part of the conversation; you'd think Cyclone has a bit of life left in it still. Surely they've learned not to spend lots of money returning a ride only to have it be cactus shortly after

  15. They’re a public company. It was a shareholders finance update. If they are going to spend capital to do it they have to tell the shareholders. It’s not a marketing press conference.

  16. Firstly, Social Network wouldn’t know its ass from its elbow unless it’s the topic of creepy guys taking way too many photos of attractive female dancers... Second, Village has at least 3 very prominent attractions that have been closed for a very long time. It’s obviously 2 of those being removed.

  17. The model is probably the most accurate representation of the track layout we have so far. Unless someone has managed to find the plans for it

  19. I think people are forgetting that Luna Park Melbourne used to be home to a 2nd coaster in the form of the Big Dipper. This was added to the park in the 1920's and the Sydney example was a clone of this coaster. There is certainly more than enough room for a 2nd coaster within LPM- especially within the footprint left by the former Metropolis coaster, which in itself is in the footprint of the former Big Dipper. At one stage , the Big Dipper was slated to be replaced with the Titan Vekoma Bomerang coaster from Expo Park before the deal fell through and it went to Wonderland instead. There are plenty of coasters that would be a perfect fit for the park within that footprint including the aforementioned Zamperla Motocoaster, Maurer SC 2000 Spinner, a custom Gerstlauer Eurofighter would be ideal , a Premier Rides Skyrocket II, a Custom Mack Big Dipper coaster, S & S El Loco , Maurer Skywheel, Skyline attractions Skywarp, Zamperla Tunderbolt , S&S 4D Freespin could all concevievably fit into the park with some vision and planning. There is actually more usuable and flexible space to fit in another coaster at LPM than there is at LPS. Another coaster that has moderate thrills would be just the ticket for the park to add to its list of attractions. Some of its current ride roster such as Enterprise and Twin Dragon are getting older so some thoughts as to replacements would definitely be on the horizon. Obtaining another coaster at this time seems more than sensible and a coaster such as a compact Eurofighter would certainly catch the public's imagination. The Eurofighter model would be for mine, the best option , but a Sky Rocket II would also be an excellent addition. Have a look at the coasters below that could all fit into the space required at LPM - any of these would be great addition to LPM's lineup and should be well within their reach both financially and physically to obtain and fit into the park.

  20. Just to clarify what this award actually is... It is NOT an architectural award. It is NOT a design award. It is a 'construction award'. It was NOT won by Dreamworld. It was won by Alder Constructions. It is NOT national. It is given by Master Builders Queensland. It is NOT state-wide. It was only for the Gold Coast. The very specific category that it won was 'Tourism and Leisure facilities (on the GC) up to $10M.' In 2019 this category had no winner because it had no entries for the GC region. In 2018 it was won for the Woodroffe Hotel (Southport) In 2017 it was won for the Doomsday Ride at MovieWorld (who even knew?) The category did not exist prior to 2017. It is highly probable that this was the only entry for this category in the awards for the GC region, or that it beat out a surf club redevelopment (like the Sunshine coast region winner) or a Hotel Lobby redevelopment (like the Brisbane winner - Ovolo). This is not a prestigious award. This is a small, local award for construction companies to help promote themselves locally. I am sure the construction was challenging and they were likely given the award just for solving all of the technical difficulties with the retro-fit. But, as was discussed at the time and as @Slick said, the final result of the lumpy bulbous mess of a building is not at all like the promised renders, and the design of the building destroyed what was left of the park's entry statement aesthetic.

  21. it would have been good if they made it a hybrid coaster as they seem quite smooth and also fairly popular overseas

  22. Apologies Slick. Sorry all, what I meant to say in the first place was “Silly media always beating up on Ardent. They are just trying to make the park ok again, we should give them a go and applaud their efforts. Awesome management team in place there.” Have a good weekend 👈LOL such a zinga
