I mean, I think it'd be awesome if Village had invested in a new monorail train or two to breathe new life into the attraction, but with everything already announced, i'm not sure if there's anything left in the piggy bank. Honestly though the kinetics the monorail gave to Sea World are hard to beat... I do hope this is a positive sign.4 points

I've never been on a Rainbow. I've been curious to know what all the hype is about for a very long time. Will absolutely give it ago if one comes out. No chance it will live up to the hype but man, curious as all hell2 points

I think, if the plans were solid enough/continue to be, I don't see why Big Dipper would drastically change the plans. Even if it was just a Stunt Pilot clone, it would still be the tallest, longest, fastest, most inversions, etc. single rail in the Southern Hemisphere, so if they want to market it as a record breaker then they still easily could.2 points

Most of the coasters here have been new models or modified by manufacturers, Tower, Scooby, Lethal, Motocoaster, Big Dipper, Green Lantern. All of these are first of their type or customised in way they're designed. Our parks have a history of taking risks on new coaster types so a RMC isn't really much of a risk as you'd think.1 point

Something like this wouldn't be bad* * needs to be themed1 point

A Gerstlauer Bobsled would be different enough from Scooby, and arguably better than what Scooby is now. Alternatively, get a good spinner. It's puzzling to me how no major park in this country has one yet.1 point

But would a wild mouse at DW be as good as scooby? Maybe if it was like G'sengte Sau at Prater where it's just enormous rather than relying on theming?1 point

I respectfully disagree, boating school blast doesn’t really count because its just a kids coaster, but roadrunner is lightyears better than EFMG in my opinion, especially since the trains got upgraded. Sure roadrunner is a little boring, but EFMG Layout aint much better, and its rough as guts with horrible restraints. Add to that its the only full circuit coaster at DW that can be enjoyed by families, they can do a lot better in the family coaster department GP love Wild Mouse, they pack a lot of fun in a small layout and can be enjoyed by a large percentage of park goers. Lets also not forget that one of the most popular rides at MW is actually a wild mouse so when done right they are great rides.1 point

Your definitely right. The wooden wild mouse at LunaPark in one hell of a ride. I especially love the last few bunny hops at the end that give you better airtime than most coasters in the country. As for the boomerangs, I am predicting MV’s will be slightly better, mostly because of that duelling element tho.1 point

Not even open yet and I'd probably rate it above the new boomerangs coming to MW1 point

Just had a look at the website and seems like there's a lot more shitty ones than there used to be, not a lot of thought or care put into them just "hey here's 10 of the same chocolate bars, that'll do as a showbag right?" Some of them seem the same as when I was a kid though, like the 'Jumbo Mega Fizz Showbag' looks almost identical to something I got multiple years or even that $3.00 Bertie Beetle bag (Bertie apparently immune to inflation) looks mostly the same. I think a part of it might be just getting older though as you said, nowadays I'm like, "I don't need that much chocolate or lollies, I'd rather a nice burger and a pint for the $40 bucks I'd spend on the showbags I'd want as a kid." To me a lot of the fun of getting showbags was walking around with so much swag, feeling like a champ with all the goodies I had and then bringing them home and spreading it all out on the floor and admiring the haul.1 point

@Cactus_Matt Showbag question; have they got shit or is it just that I have I gotten older or is it both? Went through the pavillion at the Ekka as and had a hard time imagining kid me wanting any of them?1 point

If I had to describe Rainbow to someone familiar with other carnival attractions i'd say a supersized music trip. But man, the feeling, the airtime - I don't think i've ever had a ride - in park or otherwise that is remotely similar. But its not batshit stupid intense either so still fun for those who don't seek the extremes of things like Extreme Speed Machine or XXXL. If I had to describe Zipper, i'd probably lock them in a clothes dryer without a helmet.1 point

In that case I hope Ardent continues and publishes a Press Release every time they get a license. Would love to hear about renewing their liquor license.1 point

Haven’t had one running in the country since 2008. That will change soon enough. Finally.1 point

So apart from having a shiny MAP badge, what does this even mean? And does VRTP/Aussie World have similar? Are these a requirement for operation? This press release give very little info.1 point

Village came very close to getting a Raptor for Movie World. So an Australian company could easily work with them. To my knowledge most of the mechanical problems on their early stuff have been ironed out by now. If you were to build a hybrid at Dreamworld you wouldn't be dealing with re-using a pre-existing structure and footings which aren't suitable for an aggressive ride. But a raptor is clearly the winner here - build it in the lazy river plot and reuse the old Thunderbolt station, reuse the name and you have free good publicity and free gate, an excellent replacement for Gold Coaster, which sits on prime real estate for WWW expansion down the track.1 point

When the two parties involved (that is, the government, and the park) have both publicly stated the same thing on the record, it seems pretty factual to me. I acknowledge your mystery insider information for which you can't reveal. I don't want to circularise the discussion, so if I may reword my original post in line with your suggestion:1 point

This is very good news. Incidentally I'm off to my local bar this afternoon. They have happy hour 4-6 where drinks are $5. I don't think they make any money on that because normally they charge $91 point
