  1. Don't want it spontaneously completing the course when they're not expecting it

  2. I agree, but only to a point. Scheduled maintenance, yes. Unscheduled maintenance, well that's where I'm torn. I read a comment on one of the MW FB posts from a person that just travelled from Sydney the day before Rival's went down. I can't help but feel sorry for them in this instance. To say 'oh well just go back when it's fixed' doesn't really work when you're not a local. I'm not an engineer, but our rides do appear to go down for unscheduled maintenance a lot, is there more that needs to be done during the scheduled maintenance period to reduce unexpected downtime?

  3. The thing is that because MW is not seasonal ride closures for maintenance is expected. The moment MW starts to compensate for these closures then peoples perception of a fully priced day pass becomes ‘its only worth it if everything is open.’ MW want to continue a public perception that there is still plenty worth your visit even if there are number of rides not operating. The last thing they want is to build a public expectation that they will discount tickets every time rides close down unexpectedly. If MW are transparent about their ride closures (which they are) and inform guest upon visiting as to which attractions are not operating (which they do) I see no need to offer compensation imo.

  4. An alternative they could look at maybe bringing back is the readmission ticket like all the parks have done at one stage. You know the one you can buy a second return ticket for like $10 and have a month to use it or something. Useless for locals with passes, but out of state people buying day tickets might be happy being able to return for very little if things didn't go as planned/happy with the day they visited/want to come back again.

  5. There's a number of parks that were previously in the Taft Broadcasting \ Kings Entertainment stable that have or had similar attractions to our Wonderland. As far as Bush Beast goes, BB was a mirrored layout, with all the turns in the opposite direction down under. Canada's Wonderland (Wilde Beast), California's Great America (The Grizzly) and Kings Dominion (Grizzly) were all identical layouts other than the mirroring - these were all modelled off of the original Coney Island Wildcat. CGA's The Grizzly was retracked by GCI not too long ago and is apparently a lot smoother. Fun Fact: Some blueprints \ plans that Bush Beast was built from were actually labelled "Grizzly" while some other earlier site layout plans and documents were labelled "Wildcat", so the inspiration is quite clear! I recently did a deep dive on California's Great America after the recent announcement of its pending closure, so here's a couple examples from CGA: Still Operating: a Bayern Kurve (Wizards Fury) and Wave Swinger (Dragon's Flight), Intamin Rapids (Snowy River), and an Intamin giant drop (Space Probe), along with the usual staples such as dodgem cars etc. Defunct attractions: a looping starship (Bounty's Revenge), and a 3-armed version of our Zodiac called SkyWheel (featured in Beverly Hills Cop 3).

  6. Ok. So, unconfirmed that a piece of clothing (a scarf for instance) fell onto the track in the high zone which clogged the wheels and forced a stoppage of a car in a space where a standard evacuation was not able to be completed so QFRS were called to do the evac? Is that the situation?

  7. Think it’s nostalgia for those who grew up with their wonderpass and BB was a highlight. even though Leviathan will undoubtedly be a better woodie than BB, it won’t replace the nostalgia attached to it. For many growing up in Sydney, BB was the first “big coaster” we went on, and marked a milestone of having levelled up from the Beastie

  8. The old Huss rides at Luna Park lasted for 30 years (and 25 for flying saucer). Ex DW stingray lasted for 35. Ex SW pirate ship has clocked close to 40 years. Black Widow and Rampage are each over 20 years old and are still going. They can last if parks want it to but obviously costs are going to be prohibitive at some point as parts get harder to come by (see wipeout). Fwiw our parks do well at this, wipeout was lucky to run for as long as it did when so many of the other installs couldn’t even get half the mileage. The Malaysia install closed after it ran for about 10 years so who knows how long Doomsday has left. I’d say it will either get rethemed to fit the Wild West area or removed in a few years time though.

  9. Looks like it was guest related. https://www.facebook.com/movieworldgoldcoast/photos/a.452895337181/10159429107652182/ Side tangent - why say high zone? Do many people who aren't niche enthusiasts or staff know what that is? It's up there with precinct for me when it comes to words normal everyday guests shouldn't hear.
