I really do feel bad that they’ve came all this way at a time where our parks are undergoing so much investment and construction meaning so much is down for its maintenance period right now. I hope they still have a great time here regardless5 points

Hi all, Just wanna let you all know that I’m now officially employed with Luna Park Sydney! I’ll be working in Head Office helping with Disability & Inclusion within the park starting next month. As somebody who’s experienced the highs and lows of someone with a disability, you should see over the next few months changes around the park to make it as accessible as possible. If you have any ideas, please do let me know and I’ll see what I can do. But enough with the boasting, let’s talk about the actual interview! Please note that this is as of November/December 2022. This was for casual roles within the park for the summer. That was my original intent until they offered it to me instead as it’d be more productive and less stressful. The activities and qualifications required may change in the future. So always read the fine detail and check with the park what’s required before arrival. For more fine detail, please also contact the park before you arrive. And please don’t rely on some squeaky teen online for all your information, I’ll only be talking broadly about what happens. I‘ve kept it as a secret until everything was set up with my new role, which happened yesterday. To apply, Luna Park normally announces the application a few weeks before the interviews, and those are just under a month before you start. You also need to be 16, make a resume, and have some form of ID on you, like a Passport, Drivers Licence, or Photo Card. Then you can apply online with a Google Questionnaire. There were 12,000 people that came to the interviews on 22/11 and 3/12/22. So it was very busy and they had to do it in a way to process as many people through as possible. So please be patient and if you require assistance, please contact them before arrival (but don’t worry if you forget, there are staff there to help). You might be able to bring someone to support you if you ask in advance. Once you arrive, you’ll be greeted by a staff member who’ll direct you over to the Coney Island entrance and you’ll sign in at Hungry Horse. You’ll be assigned a number in order of arrival, remember this number as it’s important for later. You’ll be given free Popcorn and Fairy Floss while you wait. Your group will then get called and you’ll get sent to Crystal Palace. You’ll start at the Sunset Room and be greeted by staff and you’ll sit in front of the TV and be shown a tape which explains what all the roles mean and what it’s like working at the park. After this, you’ll have one of many opportunities to ask questions to the staff. The group will then split to 6 corners of the room depending on what you applied for. There’s Sideshow/Merchandising, Rides (18+, not for THAT kind of reason), Guest Relations/Ticketing, Cleaning, Venues, and Food & Beverages. You’ll then get a colour sticker on your tag distinguishing you for which role you’re applying for. You’ll then proceed to the ballroom by your number. You’ll be greeted with some music played by the managers. You’ll then be put in a circle where you’ll introduce each other and get to know each other and do some more dancing! And remember you’re doing it in front of just under 100 people! Surprisingly everybody made it through that. The only comment I’ll make is that I aced it (probably)! You’ll then be put in a line behind the wall by number and be sent upstairs where you’ll wait to get interviewed. The lower the number, the sooner the interview starts. See? That’s why it’s important to be early! After the interview, you can go on free rides on Dodgem City and Big Dipper over and over again! And maybe even see a TV show being made! If you got hired, you’ll have a training day about a week or two later and then start when the School Holidays start. Hope that this helps anybody applying to the park and I wish you all the best!2 points

Coaster Studios will be missing out on both Scooby and Superman, right? That's a downright tragedy2 points

I feel like that’s a but unfair to say. @Rivalswas just saying it’s too bad not every ride is open that when they planed the trip was stated as open. I don’t understand why that’s such a bad thing to say? And then to go and call out dreamworld for no reason.. especially considering dreamworld now have basically completely new management and a new CEO. It’s like blaming someone’s son for what their dad did.. anyway.. do you think coaster studios will get the same treatment TPWW got with what rides they can and can’t film on?2 points

Do you feel bad they chose to visit Melbourne during the week when Gumbuya World's coasters are only open on the weekends @Rivals?2 points

Though it could be taken otherwise - I didn't read comment as a dig at you - but more so giving Seaworld the credit for getting the ride open even though it was just for an hour and they could have just kept it closed and wrote the day off - which seems fair in this case. Certainly a better experience for guests that are there for the day - especially if they aren't regulars such as yourself.2 points

i do agree i just couldn’t help but feel bad as they aren’t seeing the full potential, always they came expecting Scooby to be opened and seemed very excited about it… hopefully they do return in like 2025 when the new investment is all completed.2 points

You would be correct if you remove the /s. Entitlement is huge amongst theme park enthusiast.2 points

I really don’t see a park over here investing in a ride as costly as a B&M flyer, however, a Vekoma flyer is something i could see happening. This attraction could be a 2026 addition, with it being placed in the old RHLR section of the park and even have some interaction with the river (such as diving close to the water.) You could also place a couple flats in the middle of the ride and have the ride be an anchor attraction for its own themed area (not sure on the theme, but something that loosely ties into Australian Wildlife as it is right next to the wildlife section.) Then in 2029, the park should invest in either a GCI or RMC wooden coaster. Both rides would consist of very airtime heavy layouts as ST, GC and the flyer would all have inversions, with the RMC having a max of 1 inversion. I would love to see the Hybrid place in the old Lazy River location, spreading out the parks coasters to have complete flow through the park. The parks coasters would now include: GCI / RMC wooden coaster Steel Taipan Vekoma Flyer Jungle Rush Kenny’s Flyer (new vekoma SFC trains for 2025/2026) Gold Coaster Motocoaster (upgraded trains and retheme for 2025 to fit into Rivertown) Big Red Boat2 points

These are past mistakes. the park has announced they have a 5-7 year plan now so I think we can put that behind us. Yes that is the reason DW fell but no that’s not the reason they don’t have a bright future because they do have a plan now… Yes DW has removed a lot of icons over the years. It’s hard to get past that but we gotta move on. It was either run old DW to the ground or remove beloved attractions to keep the park moving forward. IP’s are a lame cash grab. They did a good job of DreamWorks land but if I wanted or anyone wanted movie based rides I believe there’s a park fully themed to that down the road?? No, DW needs something different from the rest. “Generic” (I say original) Is more risky and harder to pull off but if I had to pick between Disney or Phantasialand based on best themes I would with out a doubt go PL with its unique original themes. I know what they are planning is no where near PL style but I think removing all IP’s from dreamworld is a step in the right direction. Original themes can’t date like IP themes either.1 point

The current board of directors have been there for 6 years, and I think they are up to plan F.1 point

@RivalsI'm going to get off this merry-go-round because, yeah, I'll leave it at that. It's a bright future is debatable. Hopefully, but nothing DW has done gives me 100% confidence. Wipeout........................................Gone Tower of Terror............................Gone Bid Red Car .................................Gone Buzzsaw ......................................Gone Steam Trains ...............................Gone Log Ride ......................................Gone Dreamworks ................................Gone Tiger Island interaction ..............Gone Sky Voyager ................................Debacle of a build Steel Taipan ................................Fell in lap.1 point

@REGIEno need for you to speak for Rivals. @Rivals said he felt bad. Also using DW as an example is not throwing DW under a bus. DW did that to themselves.1 point

and why would i feel bad about that? more is closed then they originally expected hence why i feel bad1 point

DW's has been trying to sell the land long before DW got themselves into the poop. The second DW's gave up on DW's town centre, DW engaged a town planner and was in the process of subdividing the block when as part of the approval the Queensland Government wanted to resume Oakey Creek plus 10m either side of the creek. What DW tried to sell in blue. What DW ended up selling to stop the QLD gov from resuming land. Marked in blue. Probably the reason why DW tried to turn the area into a campground. 10 years ago, during the town planning debacle, I posted numerous times DW would have trouble ever moving the land on. The good thing is you can build a coaster in a flood zone and operate a theme park in a flood zone without too much additional cost.1 point

You're 100% on the money. Also, now's a great time to point out how invaluable that northern parcel of land is. Ardent's short-term interests to turn a quick buck at the expense of the business's future viability as a whole can't be overstated enough - remaining competitive against Village requires that land, and having the parent company try and parcel up the remaining land should ring alarm bells. I'm quietly thankful the latest flood reporting has come out that shows the flooding situation for Oakey Creek, and by extension, how nearly impossible it will be to build there without major infrastructure investment, and has in turn slowed down further quick sales.1 point

Our parks have been so transparent about everything that's happening so it's really their own fault. /s1 point

DW also owns the 2 smaller lots on whitewater way. Everything I marked in blue earlier is DW's.1 point
