  1. MW over here saving money by painting every coaster the same colour as DC Rivals so they only have to keep one paintbrush in stock.

  2. I still dont see the hate for this pivot element Nor do I understand why its any worse or more complicated of an element than a flipping switch track If anything seems like it would be simpler mechanically than the flipping track or at least the same but instead of the riders just sitting on a static piece of track they experience an unexpected movement during the switch

  3. I am super interested in abandoned theme parks! I've never visited one myself (if anyone knows of any in Victoria, hit me up) - but my favourites to learn about are Six Flags New Orleans, Nara Dreamland, and River Country. I especially like if there is no real story as to why it closed, and even more so if it was just left there. River Country is a great example - Disney said "this park is getting too full, lets build two more bigger ones", and then in the same breath "ah, well no one is coming to River Country anymore, just leave it there" - and they did! I am devastated it's gone now and I'll never get to see it in all its abandoned glory. Six Flags is wonderful because its closed because of a natural disaster, but Six Flags said "it's too hard" when it came to rebuilding it - and almost 20 years later, it's still there and no one can decide what to do. Nara Dreamland was such a beautiful looking abandoned park. A Disney park with a touch of home made charm Also sad it's gone now - it seemed to have been highly respected by urban explorers, and was in relatively good condition all things considered.

  4. @DaptoFunlandGuydo you not realise how much dribble I talk and you want me to remember the first page. Talk about high expectations. @themagicianyou have a lot of explaining to do because you started this rumour.

  5. Surely having only one reversing point and starting every second train backwards is stupid? Is this an actual thing or is this people flinging themselves waaaaay off the deep end with speculation based off of essentially no information?

  6. This is absolute garbage. Switch tracks don't need launches - as a matter of fact, Expedition Everest utilises a switch on an incline and gravity lets the train continue underway. I think you're talking out of your ass. I don't believe @New display name ever suggested a boomerang in the discussion for the point you're arguing - you've introduced this yourself. Oh geez you're right. Someone better go check on the Rivals and Leviathan cast members who have to change direction on the same train! From all the marketing we've seen so far, the track only has one reversing point, so every other ride will be the opposite way as it will return to the station in the opposite direction to how it dispatched. Voting probably isn't going to work. You're either going to have separate queue lines, or you're going to be random. I do hope they return to a non-grouped station queuehouse - give each row a lane and let people self group.

  7. Since it’s the same manufacturer, and based off the concept artwork, this is what the coaster train will look like This is Big Bear Mountain which is about to open at Dollywood

  9. My understanding of the attraction is, if the coaster starts the day travelling forward, it will reach the incline pivoting turntable rotating (whatever you want to call it) track. The train will then be travelling backwards and will complete the rest of the course backwards. It will then arrive back into the station backwards, therefore the next time the track leaves the station it will depart backwards, but then arrive back into the station forwards. And so on. This means the coaster offers two different experiences and you never know which one it will be until you are boarding the train. I don’t know if that is 100% accurate, but that’s my current understanding and knowledge of how the coaster will operate.

  10. If I had to guess, though it'd be thematically interesting for it to be indoors, I reckon the turntable'll be outdoors, and at most have some set pieces nearby (rockwork, plants, etc.), plus maybe some accompanying audio. Also currently think (or, at least, hope) that it'll either be 2 separate queues, or perhaps a split in the queue like what you'd see on a wing coaster. If it was random, it may lead to further operation issues w/ people requesting to ride forwards/backwards due to preference, motion sickness, etc.

  12. more track has arrived for the Vekoma SFC. I really can’t wait till these coasters go up so we can see the theming start to take shape, when does everyone think vertical construction will start? my guess would be July/August. (Jaggsjourneysau)

  13. Some random thoughts/analysis regarding the precinct... 1) Does anyone else think if there could be more than one entrance to the Wizard of Oz precinct? They could have a separate entrance/exit to and from Wild West Falls. This could give the entire park more of a feeling of flow and less of a feeling of dead ends in the park. 2) I wonder how faithful the precinct will be to the concept art. In the concept art, there appears to be a 'Kansas-y' barn behind the main green structure. Could it be that guests entering Oz will begin in 'Kansas' and walk through into the world of Oz? Or could that barn structure be part of the queue for the duelling coasters? 3) On that thought, where will the queues for the ride begin and end? In the concept art, it appears that the queues for the rides are coming out of some of the buildings? Could it be that there will be an indoor section of the precinct? What could that look like? 4) I also wonder if the coasters are the only attractions planned for the precinct or if there will be any flat rides. Maybe they could even have a themed Vekoma madhouse inside one of the buildings? 5) Just a random/silly aside. Initially I thought it was strange that Oz would be located next to Superman Escape, but it kind of makes sense in a weird way considering that Superman grew up in Kansas!

  14. Seeing as this is the closest we’ve got to an in-use Movie World update thread… Best pics of Superman’s work I could get: Marvin the Martian Construction: Couldn’t see for sure if there’s any footer work for SurfRider, partly because of all the work walls, and also because of the inability to view it from Batwing, because it too is surrounded by work walls now. Pics: Maybe they’re relocating Trident next (joking, kind of). And, saving the best for last, it seems the Joker has run out of Frozen Coke to steal.
