I didn't think the thread suggested that it was meant to be impartial - i took it just as 'what's your top 10?' I haven't really contributed to this either mainly because i don't really consider our coasters in a 'ranking' situation - i appreciate each for what they are - although when a direct coaster to coaster comparison is made - i can always see which one i'd prefer, i don't think it would translate to a definitive top ten.

i'd rather pain in the leg than pain in the neck.

You mean @Bussy (aka Wonderbus2003) - he pops his head in every now and again - I think his last visit was quite recent actually - November 3 2016 - to weigh in on the TRRR incident (as he was an operator of Snowy River Rampage at Wonderland)... With him, @Daniel, and even good old shifty @Nightshifter - gee those were the days!

especially considering EFM is a retheme, i think they've done pretty well - the train itself was given an overlay, there were madagascar cargo boxes all around with clever little details. It's been a while since I was on it, but the station got a really nice once over too. Sure they don't have a forest of trees - but thats a bit harder to do in a coaster envelope.... i think saying EFM has 'no theme' is a bit too harsh - although i'll agree it's probably not as detailed as RRRC - you have to take into account the fact that it's pretty easy to theme a desert.

Well... I severely underestimated the mountain the media could make out of this molehill, but the stupidity of the people commenting is even worse. If I were the parks, or the industry right now, i'd be looking at what legal options there are to get the media to provide some sort of corrections - perhaps running a story on ACA or TT where engineers, safety auditors, ride manufacturers and park operators talk about these sorts of incidents - why it proves they're safe, why it's normal day-to-day stuff. But - when you see just how fucking pathetic they can be over a white shirt - it's no wonder they're pushing this sensationalistic garbage for ratings and clicks.

I'm u/v that purely because you bothered to do the math on a bee's dick. -
you can't see them though, as the lift is enclosed, plus can't film from the curb - so helicopter is your only option - which won't give you much to see with the enclosed lift anyway - so probably won't make a story out of it.

As has been said already - this is a much closer battle and in no way hands down winner. I also congratulate you on creating a thread that asks a question without adding a poll to it. My first inclination was EFM - the nature of being suspended provides a much better 'i'm flying' experience which in my opinion is probably a much cooler thing than RRRC - remembering of course that Dragon Wagons and similar ground level attractions provide much the same experience for the little guys to RRRC - so EFM would be a 'difference'. I do have a soft spot for RRRC - although I can't really articulate why - but I find that for adults accompanying the little ones - RRRC can be a tight squeeze - whereas EFM permits leg freedom - so long as you don't put your feet on the chairs in front as you crest the lift hill (you can break a leg if you aren't careful!). so - i like RRRC, and don't want to see it relegated to paperclips - and - ignoring my preference for VRTP over DW parks (much like you'd compare Holden to Ford - everyone has a favourite and everyone has a nemesis), i'd have to say EFM by a whisker.

is that your way of saying the reported RCDB height is accurate, and MW technically ISNT building a hyper - for want of a bee's dick? -

I love that they go to all this trouble of making armrest controls, and then they resort to a wireless mic on a mic stand in the middle of the floor... -
I don't know about you @Original but I prefer my coasters to lose their speed when they hit the brakes...

Dreamworld Lego Store construction
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Ok, so we're up to the stage of having retail gondolas in position. Clearly stock isn't on site yet, but we're nearing a readiness to open. Am I the only one going "where are the giant lego models?" - every lego shop, store, exhibition or attraction i've ever been to has had some giant lego models nearby. I'm not seeing any here, nor any space for there to be one. Someone please tell me they haven't just built this huge shop in an almost identical fashion to every other one around, and then not proceeded to have their signature installations mounted on \ around the buildings... i'm a little disappointed by this. -
Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster Reopening [Dec 26, 2016]

I take your point, and older generations do generalise about certain aspects of the younger - but it's not without merit. You understand the joke or the punchline, but not everyone your age does. I'm the youngest in my family, and my wife is the oldest - despite there only being two years between us, I've got a much 'older' interest in things like music for example - because my eldest brother is 10 years older than me, and I tended to follow what my brothers did (like most younger siblings). With my wife being the oldest - she didn't have someone to 'follow' and so her interests tended to be a little more modern than mine. Its a very generalistic approach, and clearly not applicable to you personally, but there are many in 'younger generations' that are clueless about these things that people my age grew up with. TO hazard a guess - are you the eldest child in your family? It can depend on how the agreement went when WB exited the market. VR bought them out. Clearly at the time they were very reliant on the WB franchises for what was in the park, so retaining the license for those properties would have been a key factor in negotiations, as it ultimately would determine the ability for the park to continue in it's (then) current format. Since VR was paying - it could very easily have been written into the contract some sort of lifetime license - with the payment included in the purchase price. Depending on how desperate WB was to liquidate their share in the parks, they may have been willing to do something like that for existing properties - and similar to the Universal \ Marvel deal, they'd be permitted to refurb or refresh, provided certain standards were met. THis could be the case as we've seen several changes to the WB Kids area since WB exited the parks - pounce and bounce is a new addition entirely utilising the same characters, and I doubt this would have required a separate license negotiation - but at the end of the day we don't know what we don't know. I would like to join those calling for the park to make SOME sort of change to the ride for when it returns. Reversing the cars, whilst cool, does obviously require physical changes to the ride itself and that is probably outside of the scope of what they have embarked on - so we're likely not going to see that, at least this time around... So then, what we need to see is a revamped and updated attraction - let's see some new effects in the animatronics (we have the technology), let's see some better lighting to hide the next element, add more surprise, add more 'spooky' whilst still being kid friendly. Above all else though, let's bring in the guys responsible for the original laser show, let's set up the lasers so that they once again utilise the mirrors mounted around the disco room. let's get the right balance of fog so the room really pops, and lets update the sound system so it pumps no matter where in the room you are. Let's redo the ropelights in the lift well so it emphasises the speed and tilt of the lift. Maybe we can put more interactivity in the queueline, maybe we can do something else besides the same tired 'making of' video. Look - i enjoy the video but theres only so many times you want to hear it \ see it whilst queueing for a couple hours... and while we're in there - let's do a little realignment of the queue chains so each lane isn't 5 miles wide - people don't use all available space in the lanes, which makes the line long and quickly ends in people queueing in the overflow outside - make the lanes a little narrower so more people can fit in the airconditioning. All of this would likely cost less than another MACK turntable - but it is just a bit of a wishlist without much in the way of direction or cohesion - just my ramble.- 202 replies

Ahhhh I too recall fond memories of riding the Turbo at the Hawk Show. The poor man's easter show - they did pretty well considering it was a hole.

I was isolating the experiences - the yardsticks held up were speed and height. I isolated speed in referring to the speed my car does. I wasn't suggesting my car drives like it's on rails, or handles turns like a coaster - i was simply pointing out the speed element comparison - likewise the comparison to a lift\elevator for height. -

Reanimated didn't post a schematic - he had some roughly drawn lines, and none of what he posted suggested to me that he intended for the building to be constructed on the western side. I always interpreted what he had said to imply that the building would be closest to the highway, with the range facing towards the studios.- 499 replies

I think that happened when they built WWW, because previously Dreamworld Parkway went up to the entrance and back down, didn't it? Actually, i think that happened when Cyclone was built, as it was built over the parkway, i think?

Dreamworld reopening - the summer season
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to wipeout94's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Why? Superman doesn't even go as fast as it is legally permitted to drive on the M1 (I think @pin142 has been pointing this out for some time on the forums - but i may be mistaken and it may be someone else) Point is - i (legally and safely) drive my car daily at speeds higher than almost every coaster in Australia. and now back to the topic... errr - wait. we weren't on topic anyway. -
It's not just the trains - and nothing to do with the jet skis. as has been pointed to already - the JR trains are far more comfortable and MDMC. I can barely ride it because of my legs, and my wife cannot ride it because of hers, whereas we can both comfortably ride JR. If you switched the trains, you'd have a boring jet ski ride, and an uncomfortable motorcycle themed ride that further inflamed the pain experienced in riding with high speeds and rough forces. no thanks.
