You theme it to the scene where Henry is driving around with the helicopter chasing him. You have the trains be like cars, and then do the ol Superman Escape trick and have a helicopter on the back. The park could charge extra if you wanted to be in the helicopter seat.

What about a Space Mountain-esque Goodfellas themed coaster, with on board music playing Joe Pesci's Wiseguy.

I'm still hanging on to that Aussie World B&M Giga! A rewards program is cool for the Aussie World frequents, I guess. Did the park really need to have some sort of build up for it? They probably could have just dropped it and it would have had the same reaction. But to play devils advocate in my own post, how meta of me, the build up under the hope of something big is really why any of us are talking about it here. Also, to the over-speculating point. Aren't the point of these forums is to discuss? Speculation seems to be a significant part of theme park discussion. The park knew what they were doing by trying to generate some hype, it's not people's fault for hoping for something more special.

There was a time when the park map looked impressive.

I just miss the Tower of Terror's (I & II) roar across the park, just seeing it fly up as you past the park on the M1. The ride had a dominating presence over the park, and Dreamworld feels emptier without it. The same goes with Wipeout, the noise it made is so ingrained in my mind, and it always felt like there was just as big of a crowd watching the ride as there was queueing for the ride.

I'd imagine it'd be quite devastating for VRTP to have to cut ties with Warner Brother. Imagine having to retheme majority of your rides and areas, they'd have to make so much costumes out of nowhere, all in such a relatively short period of time. Removing the big Joker face on top of DC Rivals, that big lantern logo on Green Lantern, having to order all these new trains (especially for Superman Escape). In my opinion, it will never happen. If it was to happen, it would be a very long process, and will be a very expensive one. And I highly doubt VRTP would theme the entire park around Marvel, or another brand or studio. Since last time they did, it cost them a lot of money.

That's not what I meant. Rivals is in a maintenance period, which where dummies is something I'd expect to happen. I'm talking about every day cycles of the trains before the park opens.

I don't think I've ever seen Movie World use water dummies for their morning tests on any ride. Thinking about it, I don't think I've seen any theme park on the Gold Coast use water dummies for their morning cycles. Constantly filling up trains with water dummies every morning just seems like a massive waste of time. You are speaking like you knew this was gonna happen, when this has never happened in the 5 years the ride has operated at the park. You're not an expert, nobody is expecting you to be an expert, stop pretending to be an expert.

I'd assume majority of the voter base, or whoever gives out the awards, are primarily Americans. Because Escape from Madagascar is one of the greatest roller-coasters of all time!

I'd cry if I saw this happened, I really wouldn't want to see the park be converted to Legoland. I think there is a lot of attachment to the name and identity of Dreamworld, even if it was damaged by the accident in 2016. i don't know about year by year, but I'd get another roller-coaster (thrill ride) in the next 5-10 years. I do not think Steel Taipan is enough for the lack of roller-coasters the park has now. Obviously, the family side needs something. I don't know what, where and when.

I know, but the whole reason the brand name was used is because a successful children's book has been adapted into two successful films. So wouldn't it make sense for a company to continue to take advantage of the Wonka name, especially when there is a new film right around the corner? I know Nestle discontinued the brand overseas in 2018, but I wouldn't be surprise if it made a comeback if the new movie is successful.

There's a new movie coming out called Wonka, so I sincerely doubt that.

I don't think the problem is that it's a family coaster, the problem is that a family coaster is replacing a major thrill coaster in the park. DC Rivals opened in 2017, it's been a bit since their last major investment into an attraction. Whilst I'd agree that the park needs another family attraction, replacing a thrill ride with a family boomerang is a huge let-down.

That's gonna be a very intimate riding experience for the people sitting on the second last row.

I'm no legal expert, and I don't know how many of you know your laws. But does he have a case? I wouldn't say seeing disfigured dead bodies is the expectation for someone in law enforcement, but surely it's unreasonable to think that you would never see a horrific scene as a part of this career. I feel bad for him, obviously. I couldn't imagine seeing what he say, and it's clearly left a horrible impact on his life. But I don't personally think Dreamworld are at fault for a first responder doing their job. If the officer wins this case, than shouldn't that give the right for doctors to sue their patients for the trauma they experienced via their patient's injuries?

Even if he were to be included, he should only have a minor role. Ultimately, it's a film about Walt Disney. The Social Network wasn't really about the creation of Facebook, much like how Raging Bull isn't really about boxing. The best biopics use historical events to tell personal stories. This isn't the CV Wood film, or is it about his relationship to Walt Disney. Maybe he should have a part in the movie, but it shouldn't spend a huge portion of the runtime on a character that isn't massively important.

I'd agree if the park was being built around Brisbane and the Gold Coast. But I think 1 coaster, a few flats and other non-ride attractions would be sustainable for a short period of time. The target audience wouldn't be people who have easy access to the parks on the coast. The people who the park attracts at first would be people who's only real experience in a park would be their Queensland holiday they took five years ago. I'm always wrong though, so I'm interested to hear others thoughts. It's hard for me to judge specifics about what location in NSW would suit a theme park, or what coasters would be in a park's price-range. I don't get out of Brisbane much, and my coaster knowledge isn't that developed. I was about to say a ride like Steel Curtain would fit the park in my first message, but then I realised it was around 20 million dollars. So maybe a smaller scale Steel Curtain, one that isn't 200ft, would be a good fit.

As much as I enjoy the dramatic arts, this thread has gone personal very quickly. If I can move the attention back to the topic at hand. I disagree with pazzap when he states "...one good coaster isn't enough." I think it is to an extent, obviously one good coaster needs supporting attractions. But if my Wikipedia article reading habits are anything, Movie World's only coaster from 1995 - 2002 was a Vekoma SLC. Obviously not a world class attraction, and maybe played more of a supporting role, but it was a good enough ride to stand-out. Sea World did have a shabby looking smaller coaster before Corkscrew, but the Arrow Dynamic looper was really the attraction that serviced the park as their big attraction. I'm sorry if my historical recounting is inaccurate, I was only born in 03. But my main point is that one big roller-coaster is serviceable for a period of time. But what I do agree with pazzap on is quality over quantity. I think the park is better off saving up for 1 or 2 major roller-coasters rather than spilling their budget on 6 or 7 coasters from lower-tier manufacturers. However, a ride like Rollin' Thunder seems like a good investment for a smaller park to gain a steady stream attendance numbers. Which is what the park will be for a decade or two. Theme Parks are already a very costly industry, especially building a park from the ground up. We can't expect Disney or Universal to swoop in and spend hundreds of millions on building these big expensive attractions, Australia just isn't attractive enough for that to happen. For any park to enter the game, I think it needs to have it's eyes set small and work it's way upwards. I appreciate the thought that was put into the proposal, and it's certainly a very interesting discussion. It's a shame the thread has been hijacked by petty arguments.

You might have chosen the wrong hill to die on. The statement about how DC Rivals isn't a world-class attraction is very questionable. However, I think you have forgotten that majority of Movie World's guests have never even set foot into a foreign theme park. It does not matter if you consider DC Rivals to be lacking in originality in comparison to the world stage, since the general public have never even seen an attraction like it. The closest coaster to DC Rivals, with a regular chain-lift, non-inverted, no launch, would have been Gold Coaster. A relic from the 90s, from a company that ceases to exist. The Australian market has never even comprehend a full-circuit coaster that large. I was born in 2003, I cannot speak on anything Movie World related from the early 2000's. However, I somewhat agree. There is an argument to be had when discussing a drop in theming and film-making type attractions. But the argument about DC Rivals and Green Lantern is fatally flawed.

The two rides I have the most nostalgia for are Scooby Doo and Wild Wild West, I use to be terrified of anything that looked big, scary and went upside down. My favourite trip to Movie World would have been nearly a decade ago, no clue on the year. But It was my first time back since I was a toddler. It was a rainy day, and without my mother for protection, my father decided it was a great time to get me on some of the bigger rides. He got me on Superman Escape and Batwing, at the time that was the worst experiences of my life. I didn't open my eyes once on Superman, and I have never been more terrified for my life on Batwing. Then when the park was deserted, I was able to have constant rides of Scooby-Doo. Which was definitely my therapy session for that day, my younger self enjoyed that much more. Now, obviously DC Rivals is my favourite ride. But the first time you remember experiences those forces are definitely my favourite.

The general public aren't stupid, this sentiment is a stain on the community in my opinion. Just because they aren't interested in the latest and greatest of theme park developments, does not at all mean something like that will fly over their heads. They'd be the first people to point out that they are the exact same ride.

Historically speaking, whenever a theme park is bought out the new ownership tends to enjoy marking it's authority over its new purchase. I think we could expect something big installed for Arkham Asylum's replacement. It well and truly could be a B&M, Richard said something a bit ago about them being on Village's radar. Their coasters would add something valuable to Movie World's line up. A Mad Max theme might be pretty cool, but they'll probably just name the coaster after the newest Superhero movie like they always do.
