  1. It's just an educated assumption based on fact a.) they're calling it a 'hypercoaster' and fact b.) hypercoaster's are "supposed" to be 60m or more high. No confirmed word on the height from the park other than the label.
  2. Maybe they're just removing what's been sold/what needs to be demolished to get the slide off for relocation and are leaving the rest up because that's the cheapest option available to them. They're hardly rolling in the dough right now so I'm sure they're accountants are looking at every option to save them $$$.
  3. I love seeing this pic, not just for how good this coaster is looking but seeing the crowd of people watching the construction. If Movie World was smart they'd be capitalising on this interest from the general public rather than being as silent as they are.
  4. Seems more and more likely that this hypercoaster will be more along the lines of a fast and wild 'Intimidator 305' style ride rather than a traditional 'out and back' style ride. While I'm sure there's a few people who will be annoyed at this, the general consensus is that the aforementioned is a spectacular ride and so Movie World's new behemoth is among good company. Personally speaking, I just hope there's not too many needless inversions, 2 is the absolute maximum I think it needs, just like an RMC. And while I'm sure a massive vertical loop would cut a striking figure for the front of the park I don't know how necessary it is all things considered. Either way, I'm looking forward to the finished product!
  5. I kinda like how some Japanese parks have it where there's a ticket price just for admission, a per ride ticket price, and an unlimited ride pass price. I know sometimes I'll go to a park and only ride a half dozen rides so a per ride price seems reasonable, whereas sometimes I'll binge rides and ride multiple rides 5+ times each. Obviously this kind of system doesn't factor in annual passes but I thought it was worth a mention.
  6. It's almost like the lack of competition (nationally not locally) makes Movieworld and VRTP as a whole pathetically complacent to do the bare minimum at least as far as promotional and website related material is concerned. Every part of their business should be executed at 100% if they intend to weather the aforementioned downturn.
  7. I've always been partial to B&M track personally, it's nice and thicc Speaking of 'less supports' Intimidator 305's lift hill is a thing of minimalist beauty. (Seems like this current discussion almost warrants its own thread, lot of that happening recently lol)
  8. "Coastiality" sounds more like a Mortal Kombat finishing move.
  9. At this point I'd like an announcement just to know what to call the big pink magenta beast!
  10. Yeah when I went to Dreamworld in September '16 it was included in the entry price.
  11. @themagician yeah good point, probably more to do with that, guess I'm just desperately trying to rationale why it's taking them so long to announce the damn thing.
  12. Maybe the reason they're starting construction with this seemingly random section of the ride and not with the lift hill or close to the beginning is so they can use it as a backdrop to do their announcement from, would be a cool, striking image to hold a press conference in front of.
  13. Maybe it's because Movie World is too busy spending money on world class attractions and not worrying about shops.
  14. ^^^ reminds me of Oblivion at Alton Towers or Osiris at Parc Asterix. Most themed coaster I've ever ridden probably goes to Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey at Unviersal Studios Osaka, BUT i'm guessing that doesn't count as an actual roller coaster lol
  15. Wasn't this just in the off topic topic or am I going crazy? On topic, there's no point to having on-ride audio on Hotwheels Sidewinder because the only sound I hear is my brain rattling round inside my head! (Okay, so it's not quite that bad but you get what I'm getting at.)
  16. What makes a coaster fun? Well, hate to break it to y'all but here's the secret... it's if it's fun.
  17. I think I'd prefer "Jack Daniel's Buzzsaw", since a couple of shots of JD is the only thing that'd make that ride palatable.
  18. Even as an (almost) 30 year old the original Scooby Doo theming scared me! In a good way mind, let's just say there's no need for whatever future theming that comes in to traumatise children, the Gremlins ride did that enough to me thank you very much.
  19. You can guarantee that if there was a routine ride stoppage the same day World War 3 was declared the media would still find a way to cover it as if it was somehow relevant in the grand scheme of things.
  20. I don't know if it was mentioned earlier in the thread (i'm too drunk to be bothered to check) but how does the upcharge on AA work? Where/how do you pay the extra $5?
  21. I'm interested to see some brakes, yeah, I know possibly the lamest thing to want to see from a roller coaster but I've never seen a brake run separated from a roller coaster and just have an odd itching to see what it looks like. HEHE!
  22. So, had a random nostalgia-gasm thinkin' bout this ride the other day, yup just thinking about it, but seriously what is it/where can I find it or a version of it anywhere else in the world? I know the Australia's Wonderland page says the ride type is a 'Sea Panic' but googling that came up bupkis, *screams into the void* "MOAR INFO PLS!" Linky for those interested http://www.wonderlandhistory.net/content/hms_endeavour P.S. I'm drunk. P.P.S I'm always drunk
