  1. Worked for me, looks good too. Look forward to my next trip.
  2. Just "DC Rivals HyperCoaster Discussion"? not in Soft open now but still good to discuss. Also completely agree with your view on single riders. When I was there a few weeks back one guy was letting 2 single riders through (apart from when a kid spilt his drink on the seat and they had to clean it / cycle it through for a blow dry) but when I came back to go backwards the attendant was only letting them on for single seats.
  3. What do they define as a local? Still SEQ and NNSW?
  4. They needed to remove the mountain so they can recycle the steel
  5. Correct but mention a rollercoaster or thrill ride to general public and they question the safety of it. I would say they will stay away from a new Thrill Attraction until they have been able to recover more and remove the old ride and the legal side of things has ended. Once all of that is done they could build a thrill ride with minimal referenced to the incident to stain their reputation further.
  6. I did. Not much as you would expect. There was a swooping magpie though to keep people on their toes.
  7. I do like the idea of a special effects "show" like the ones i saw recently at USS and USJ, particularly USJ, because fire and explosions. My biggest issue is they were tied to movies and that could become dated really quickly, as would just effects in general, unless they are updated even with minor adjustments every year or 2. But we have seen how well MW looks after effects on other rides right...
  8. I would aim for MW SW and WNW and hope you can get a sweet deal on DW to knock em all over.
  9. You're wrong, kinda. When insuring something as simple as a car you are asked if it is roadworthy, and similar to a home, asked if it is structurally sound and secure and stated in your documents it says you need to maintain these conditions. After such an accident though, through investigations they may pay out a partial claim depending on circumstances. You are also able to claim on your personal liability if you are responsible for other damage. You're correct. Source: Work in Insurance. My company insures some major attractions around Australia for various things. Interesting is that usually more than 1 underwriter will insure for different divisions / sections of the park. Such as the actual rides could be insured by a different company to the liability. Finally since this could possibly have such a large payout, the insurer may also have to dip into their re-insurance plan.
  10. I mean if Merlin buys it, at least they have the experience of a theme park having a major "incident"...
  11. Bottled water kinda sucks as a 'Sorry'. I get you weren't in any danger or overly inconvenienced but would be much cooler if they gave you a shirt or hat or something that you can keep, rather than drink and be done with. At least like a fast pass for another ride or something. (kinda useless at the moment though from what I hear about attendance).
  12. Storm has 2, when you leave the station and plop into the water and just before the final splash down going back into the building. I think Jet Rescue is after the 2nd boost?
  13. Are you talking about the point where they say there is lots happening at the Village Roadshow theme parks? At that point they were talking about all 3.
  14. But don't you book the Penguin Encounter online?
  15. If you Google "Courier Mail" and the article name (in this case, "gold coast spit casino axed disneyland could fill jobs void") the article usually becomes unblocked, or you will find another site that has re-hosted the article.
  16. When they say Re-theme is it possible they mean keeping SD genre and just getting all new thematic pieces?
  17. At least drop the 2nd DC out of the name. You already have the DC logo which is essentially just a fancy DC.
  18. You have to remember we have an interest in theme parks / rides / attractions so things related to that will stand out more. I remember ~3 years ago after the Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 was shot down, any aircraft incident was reported on and a little note at the end mentioning recent plane crashes. News.com.au has always done this, previously Ride Incidents were the hot topic and it was a proper Media Beatup. Although that has died down now the whole little note thing will pretty much be there for quite a while.
  19. I wouldn't really say this is Media Beatup, it just appears to be how News.com.au reports on things now. http://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/incidents/air-canada-pilot-avoids-what-could-have-been-worst-aviation-disaster-ever-at-san-francisco-airport/news-story/14729411d92bf14ae478d03e4e7697b0 This is a story about Air Traffic Control tower doing their job correctly a few days ago, then plants that last sentence in the end.
  20. Thanks for the photo. Someone correct me if im wrong but I thought there is 1 more segment on each of the supports that connect to the (for lack of a better word) twist at the top?
  21. Normally I would agree with both of you, but such short notice to me says something has failed/broken.
