Australian Outback Spectacular - changes?
rappa replied to Redboost's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Well I think that's the thing AlexB, you don't come up with something and then work out how you fit it into a show, you create a show that has a meaningful requirement for something and then utilise the tech to full that requirement. Tech is no good without story to support it. -
Australian Outback Spectacular - changes?

I think the peak (forget the technology side and just story wise) for Outback Spectacular was the first Light Horse show back in 2009. But the peak for the helicopter was definitely the original. -
Australian Outback Spectacular - changes?

I would completely disagree, a harsh cut from outback footage to a drone shot of Outback Spectacular with a terrible CGI roller door added to the back, and then the laborious entry (I mean the fact that the doors have to open in that screen hardly makes it a surprise) of the canned helicopter that you've seen in every other production is hardly a wow moment for me. It screams "hey we have a helicopter, we must use it somewhere". The original show back in 2006 used the Helicopter to muster cattle after we had just seen it done the old way with horses, made total sense and was a real feature. It had its time. As for the Circus, I think you're just looking with Rose Glasses Push, whilst the scene with the big truck is gone the intro to the Circus is no more out of place/rushed than it used to be. I didn't really notice any difference when I saw the show a few weeks back. As for Bluey, they have always had different actors play that role, perhaps you've just been fortunate to see the 'A' guy every time previous. -
Australian Outback Spectacular - changes?

The helicopter was removed for the "Tribute to the Light Horse Show" as several scenes had to be removed in order to fit in the Light Horse portion for timing purposes. Whilst the Helicopter was a cool effect back in 2006 when the show opened, it was subsequently shoe horned in to every show after with less and less relevance. I think it was time to move on with 2018 technology something so much more could be put in to replace it. -
I say good on them for things being fixed so quickly after they break. I've seen other parks leave temp fixes and dirt around for months if not years. And I think to say they fixed it because it was mentioned here is probably giving ourselves too much credit.

That's going to cause so many arguments and upset guests from kids that could ride last visit and then not now.

Damn I don't think I've seen any other video of the original main lift and when we get one it's so bloody awful we may as well not have!
-
Does that train have seats or is it just wheel assemblies that are being assembled?

Ok apologies if my point wasn't explained well... You can be nostalgic for something and have fond memories of it, sure, we are all different so that's natural. What I more meant is when people manifest that into "we demand this is brought back" ala this dragon coaster, Dreamworld Mine Ride, etc..

Come far? Literally every photo of both parks looks better than today. Only thing to improve Movie World further would be to get photos before that horrible bloody screen went in.

Wet n Wild didn't have a lift for the toboggans until it became the "Double Screamer" with the big ass heavy double plastic toboggans. Prior to that they were timber, damn heavy and you had to carry them. If 2 if you were my dad as I was big enough to ride (WetNWild originally had a crazy small height requirement for that death trap) but not strong enough to carry the sled Many years ago I stumbled upon a document from way back when showing all the injuries/payouts to people hurt at the waterpark and WnW... it was crazy the severity and frequencies of injuries on those old school slides like the toboggans and the speed slides... clear why we don't have them today in sue happy 2018.

That's debatable... sounds more like internal test pattern to me

What sort of a stupid commend is that?? I for one thing it looks like a great addition and the exact sort of thing Movie World should be bringing to the Western Area at some point.

The lap set belt is such a better restraint option because firstly it makes the ride accessible to a much broader height range, a true family attraction and two, it's just a lot less intimidating which means people afraid of thrill rides will be much more comfortable riding. The curve of the screen with digital projection is a BIG issue, for me that's 100% what totally destroys the new Soarin' at Disney. I'm not sure why, but my guess is the Digital projection is pushing the limits of the lens where as on 70mm they had more wriggle room. But on the outside seats all of the monument and building stuff looks absolutely shit. I think another factor is in the original Soarin' film there really weren't buildings. It was all big open scenery with little vertical reference points. Hopefully cutting edge are smart and the content of this is much more wide open space focussed and we don't see this issue manifest on this installation.

Basically seems DW is demolishing any of these structures built years ago that needed to be maintained to stay safe because well they didn't bother to maintain them... Dont be fooled into thinking this or the log ride cave was removed for sight line reasons. Its because they were unsound because the park doesn't do adequate maintenance on anything.

From the good folks that brought you GL and a Joker Head from hell we now have Top Golf! Looks great thank goodness someone introduced the parks to that supplier all those years ago hey

I'm with Skeeta. Knowing what occurred to allow Rapids to happen and seeing no measurable change in culture since then coupled with one or two other incidents I've observed you won't get me on any Dreamworld rides until there's some major changes made to the way they do things. Happy to visit the park, have a couple drinks and see the Tigers, and I have a pass. But not getting on anything that could injure me or worse.

HAHAHA they had a special price for the Unemployed 😂😂

Oh lol... I had heard the backside of the black tank wall was to be made a video screen... But that looks more like a couple of TVs on the wall at the local pub
