I think that's extraordinarily unlikely at this stage. Dreamworld's flag is on the rise and the valuation right now wouldn't be the bargain that those sorts of investors like to take on.

I'm not sure what you're saying @DaptoFunlandGuybecause when BGH purchased Village, Dreamworld wasn't worth as much as Village.

You don't say? You mean a theme park with an attached waterpark wasn't worth as much as a diverse cinema, themepark and entertainment conglomerate? #this-just-in.

will someone even buy DW? Or village for that matter?

I remember hearing that Merlin were interested in potentially buying Dreamworld a few years ago (around 2018/19) but I doubt that’s still on the cards considering the financial difficulty the company is currently facing and the significant cutbacks they’re making at their existing parks. I really hope Coast hang on to Dreamworld as long as they can as they’re doing such a great job under the current leadership.

If Merlin wanted to buy it they’d 100% turn it into a Legoland…

If Merlin wanted a legoland, they'd 100% build a greenfields park. You wouldn't buy dreamworld and then knock everything down to build a legoland park. legoland typically shoots toward a younger demographic so you'd have millions of dollars of thrill-rides that wouldn't suit the park style. 

Merlin also owns Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, Chessington and Gardaland, and none of those became Legolands. If Merlin bought dreamworld I could see them putting in a third gate style park, or redeveloping space inside the park into a mini legoland, but Dreamworld would stay.

This hasn't aged well.  Council has now asked for a stop on the application to give DW time to respond and time for council to review DW's response to the matter of access to Lot 3.   The council more or less want more information on how vehicles will/can access Lot 3.

Seems like the council is too lazy to open google maps and see that there is already roads leading directly to Lot 3? Plus theres the road that Dreamworld already uses to reach the overflow carpark when its in use, though tbf that is only 1 lane wide

The overflow car park is accessed from the front of the park.  You can see the gate on your left before ST.

There is no access to the road on the other side because where the road ends, the land isn't owned by DW.

There is no requirement for the owner to extend the road and the council don't want to approve an island.

 

My guess is DW are working in the road will get extended and the council is working in there isn't a road.  (just a guess)
