dodge53 2
Does anyone know what the australian record for the longet length of time riding a roller coaster is and would anyone be interested in attempting it.
Spotty 173
It would most likely be the "Whirl Till You Hurl" Competition that ran on the now demolished Bush Beast at Wonderland Sydney. If you look on the forums there is more information about it.
ShadowXL 0
Grant Denyer is doing three hours today on the corkscrew, is this any where near it?
PixelPix 0
Grant Denyer is doing three hours today on the corkscrew, is this any where near it? Nope! In 1992 SeaFM set the record for the Corkscrew with 110 consecutive revolutions, stopping only for the mandatory harness safety check on each pass. I was lucky enough to be participate in this event. The record only lasted 1 year however, when the volunteer Southport Air Sea Rescue (now Volunteer Marine Rescue Southport) staged a fund raiser on the 10 Sept 1993 and set a new record of 120, raising $15,000 in the process. If I remember correctly, the 120 revolutions took us around the 4 hour mark. (I say us, as I ran this event being a Snr. Rescue Skipper with ASR/VMR) I would love to know if this record has ever been broken. I have tried to find out in the past, but never had any luck. We did ask Seaworld some years later, if we could set a new record as another fund raiser, but they declined due to safety concerns. So perhaps there has not been any other records set since? It would be nice to still be the record holder, but I don't fancy my chances.
joz 2,794
Pretty sure the 120 is still the record.
PixelPix 0
Pretty sure the 120 is still the record. Woohoo!!!
New display name 2,955
I remember about ten years go a Brisbane radio station did a stunt with the last on left on the thunderbolt won. It lasted for a week and the contestants also had to sleep on the thunderbolt. The contestants only got off the ride for 15min a day to go to the toilet and shower. I think it was called ride to you hurl.
PixelPix 0
I see Ch7 claiming Grant's 3 hours as a record this morning. Pffft!
ShadowXL 0
yes, but did they ever mention it, the only thing i saw was the title down the bottom was roller-coaster record. still pretty misleading...
Bussy 31
14 hours a day for 40 days on the Bush Beast. I think that would be the record, at least for Australia. Previous thread is here. "The Bus is now leaving for Hurley Heights, NSW" Edited February 20, 2008 by Bussy
mickey_079 18
Ach imagine doing a record like that on Ghost Rider at Knotts. I only rode it 6 times when I went and at the end my neck started to ache!
