iwerks 806 Report post Posted September 28 @Tim Dasco and I paid a visit to Adventure World, today. There are no new rides. Quite a few things have had a fresh coat of paint, but lots of things haven’t. Tim was impressed with how the grass looked. There is large fencing around the haunt/maze area. Inferno is still testing. The animal part was closed, despite Aimee, the keeper, being inside and the place looking okay. Yarli’s Safaris has new paint/decals. Buccaneer Battle seems to be cracking down on any loose items(including hats and glasses). The crowds slowly built up over the day. The queue for the Grand Prix looked to be about 30 minutes.

I can confirm they 100% can, the pool just needs to be widened and the other slide will start right next to the kraken conveyer belt.

A.H 13 Report post Posted October 5 I have a question about adventure world in 2005. What is that?
Tim Dasco 649 Report post Posted October 5 @A.H it was an attraction called Kiddie Creek which was a kids ride for those under 100cm’s I believe and they would go around the creek for one lap in a little boat. This attraction was remove the year Kahuna Falls opened.

My favourite ride at the park when I was very young. It was placed in and amongst trees with one attendant and you did a lap and off you hopped. I remember the water being rather murky and the creek was quite skinny. Last ride circa 2007 (for me) And some more questions.. What is that building situated where the abyss would be put in? Is that the toboggan I see where kraken and sea serpents are now? Did the now non existent castle lake ever house anything? Does AW own that land above turbo mountain on the eastern side of the pic? Monorail and toboggan were removed later in 2005 and Replaced by Super 6 aqua racer (Now tidal wave), and Sea serpents in 2006. Castle was a viewing tower and the lake had paddle boats. Yes?

There was an empty section that was also used for mazes, like Prison Break. Yeah, the old toboggan and monorail were at the bottom of the pic. The castle lake had the peddle boats, with a miniature train going around it. The castle was a lookout and a one-time haunt attraction. AW does own some extra land, although turbo mountain was on the western side of the pic(towards the coast). Beat me to it @A.H
iwerks 806 Report post Posted October 12 Solo trip to AW, today. Got a free coffee and a nice chat with Ross. Inferno is back up and running. Apparently, it got a new control panel in the refurb. It was doing shots and what appeared to be extended drops. The Aussie Wildlife Experience has yet to reopen.
iwerks 806 Report post Posted November 2 Fright Nights is over for another year. I attended the first two nights and @Tim Dasco was at all 3. The first two nights were extremely wet and cold. The scare actors were great and the maze was a step up from last season. The problem with setting a maze in a moat is that it tends to collect a bit of water when it rains. The staff were friendly and into the event despite the miserable weather. Unfortunately, our Friday was a bit of a write off with plenty of showers and waiting for about 45 mins to get our food. There was a complete mess up with our orders in the tiki bar when they gave away our two slabs of pizza to someone else. They said we’d get some extra fries with our order which would be delivered in just a few minutes. When it did arrive, it was two small pizzas, which they then made complimentary. 10 minutes later our proper slabs arrived. Luckily, we had some drinks and good company to pass the time, so it wasn’t a problem. The attendance went up every night and I’m sure @timdasco can tell you about the rest.

I was surprised at how much they tried to interact with guests - even before getting into the park And their ‘tests’ to check for contamination were clever too. The music they played was great too (imo anyway) - hard rock and heavy metal 🤘 Now I don’t mean to sound super harsh but it didn’t really feel like a Fright Nights event but more of a park after dark event with a few scare actors roaming around. Perhaps the locals could let me know if the event is in its early years? The maze was quite good and elaborate but there didn’t seem to be a consistent theme - but maybe I was just put off by the clown that was following me and laughing creepily at times. I also thought that having the maze as an upcharge (not included with entry ticket) is a good idea. I think that should be something for MW to consider if they’re to have such a big maze with such a long wait next year (again, imo). Have the smaller mazes included in entry ticket and then pay and book for the big maze.

So they decided to change it last season to Feb last season to get better weather which back fired. So this was the first year back during Halloween so they are building the event up again. However the park was packed out on the Sat night when the weather cleared. All major rides had 30-1 hour queues and the fog machines and contamination zones were out cos the weather cleared.

iwerks 806 Report post Posted November 9 Mixture of sources here, including AW and the old Boans workers' family Facebook page that no longer exists. They had a family day BEFORE the park opened.
