Movie World Maintenance Schedule 2025
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to TV15's topic in Theme Park Discussion
At the risk of prolonging this way too far.. No, you wouldn't have to build/make something to fit the track, and mount to the chassis. Each car has four attachments - the left and right running gear, and the coupling to the car in front and behind. In Rivals case, the running gear is at the rear, so the rear coupling for each car is not a factor that requires support. The front coupling simply needs to be supported once the car in front is removed. This doesn't need to be a fixed or permanent device as each car would be removed successively - so a crane would suffice. You tie off the train to the track to prevent movement. (Queensland fire did this for Green lantern - and can be achieved with slings and ratchets. Their technical rescue team has a surprisingly large bag of tricks that can be utilised in emergencies without needing to call Europe for clearance too.) You attach a crane to the front coupling of car 1 to provide support to that coupling once it is uncoupled from the zero car You attach a second crane to the zero car in a way that the car is balanced for lifting You detach the running gear from the zero car and uncouple the zero from car 1 crane 1 is now supporting the front of car 1 without bottoming onto the track. the train isn't moving because it is tied off. You remove the zero car You reposition the second crane and lifting sling to car 1 in a way that the car is balanced for lifting Once the second crane has the weight of car 1, the first crane can reposition to support the front coupling of car 2 the entire process is then repeated until all cars are removed. Without running gear, the cars could be loaded onto an ordinary flatbed and transported to workshop \ maintenance bay. A simple chain hoist could be used in the maintenance bay to support the front coupling as each additional car was added. The train would be clear of the track, the ride could be inspected and reopened with the second train while the first was rebuilt and recertified. Sure, the winch through was cheaper - I've never disputed that - I simply suggested it could have been done quicker. ETA: looking closer at pictures of the DCR train, if you took cars from the rear of the train first (ie start at car 6) you don't even need to support the front coupling - except for the zero car when you remove car 1. -

You'd have to build/make something to fit to the track and mount to the chassis. Don't forget it didn't valley in a flat piece of track, it ended up at the bottom of a curve which makes things even more difficult to remove as the train moves. Also have to remember they were trying to come up with solutions that resulted in the least amount of down time possible. It was cheaper, and ultimately decided to be less disruption to pull the train over rather than dismantle it given the reason for it stalling in the first place had absolutely nothing to do with the train and could be put back into service more or less immediately after passing usual inspections.

And WnW have closed the wave pool after the winter school holidays for as long as I can remember

It's winter every pool needs to be closed at some point for maintenance this is what happens when you open a waterpark all year round and don't have a seasonal winter closure.

Movie World Maintenance Schedule 2025
DaptoFunlandGuy replied to TV15's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Who said anything about sitting it on the track? As I said - you might need more machinery - eg: a second crane to support the still-mounted car while the first one is lifted away - but it can be done. I've no doubt if the winch-out method they used hadn't worked, for whatever reason, they'd have started removing cars in just this way. -

Dreamworld - Something big is coming
Brad2912 replied to DaptoFunlandGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Drove past the Beattie Rd boundary (graveyard, monster truck location) and they had installed a new fence along that perimeter and could see heavy machinery operating over the top of the fence so likely clearing and levelling the land- 103 replies

Yeah, no doubt they do. At the time they didn't though is what I was meaning and nobody was quite sure how to remove it. Thats the primary reason it took so long. There was literally no procedure in place and nobody is going to take any responsibility for damaging something unknown. You can't just unbolt one car from the other and sit it on the track. Even if you don't care about the train, what about the track itself? It's not bullshit at all, it's literally what happened. Now. I know exactly how it works, why do you think I posted? I also know that the entrance way for rivals originally wasn't wide enough to take the assembled trains out the front of the maintenance bay and everything had to be loaded/assembled from the rear.
