  2. Not a mass walkout, but I know from past experience that most seasonal contracts end after the Easter holidays. Its entirely reasonable that they didn't offer enough seasonal casuals the opportunity to move up to PT and as such simply don't have the staff available.
  3. It's that pesky 3pm pickup with a 5pm park closure that gets in the way though, am I right?
  4. It's a bit rich to consider Green Lantern to be 'working' at the best of times.
  5. No but workers who are parents have impacts to their availability during school term too.
  6. I think the design looks great. A much needed modernisation, but still with a fun feel that suits a theme park
  7. School kids don't operate rides and universities are all over the place on when your trimester starts and finishes.
  8. Would ‘High Lawsuit Risk’ be in referral to actually suing due to the design of site itself, or an external issue that was influenced by the design of the site (like, being given false/hard to understand information from the site, that then led to a lawsuit)?
  9. The standard you walk past is the standard you accept. Just because older \ other sites are poorly designed for those with disabilities, doesn't mean it should be allowed to continue when a new site is developed.
  10. I mean to be fair, their staffing numbers do drop outside of school holidays because some staff have schooling obligations... but its still ridiculous to suggest all the rides are closed because they don't have the staff.
  11. Way back when we saw this: I assumed this is what the lethal weapon building was being used for. There is a doorway on each side of 'the great and powerful oz' and I assumed one door lead to each attraction. I assume that leads to the pathways you can see scattered throughout the land.
  12. Thanks @TBoy, it's great to see the renders side by side for comparison. My thoughts on the changes: - The simplified castle I expected, but I do hope it has the darker tonnes like the first image. There does seem to be a filter on the second image to suit the style they were going for, but the castle does look to washed out. It's colour is too close to the barn, when it should be a lot darker and more menacing. - I prefer the new barn design. It's scale is much more impressive. I hope they plant out the entire area around the track to make it feel like a field because the first image makes it look empty. - I do hope we get some kind of rockwork/gravel around the castle, because you're right... it does look weird now. - I'm interested to see how you will actually access these rides and whether the paths to get to them will be seperate or it's one path and you pick which way you want to go. I know we can see paths with people on them, but it's still not clear where the entry/queues/unload paths are. - The Akrham station is looking very ugly and makes it look like they aren't even using it (work has been going on inside, so I assume it will form part of a walkthrough/preshow). I really hope they are covered up/themed when inside the land because they were never pretty, but (I guess) it worked when it was LW/AA. - When it was AA, this area definitley always felt excluded from the park because of all the surrounding buildings. It didn't give the feeling you were isolated because you could see the other coasters around and always hear Scooby, but I hope they take into consideration sightlines because they're promoting how immersive this land and well themed it will be. - The entry plaza area has definitley been stripped back quite a bit and the Emerald City has lost a lot of its dimensionality, but I hope it still gives that WOW factor. LW/AA's plaza always felt empty and like a waste of space because there was nothing in there.

  14. Read my first post where I tell you my source. I'm not disputing rides might open late "occasional" because a few staff called in sick, but I call bollocks on your post when MW has closed half the rides. You are suggesting MW had a mass walk out the day after school holidays finished, because half the park wasn't closed during the school holidays. You are also suggesting SW staff, on the same wage, are happy, because 80% of their rides are open.
  15. Another comparison showing the whole land: Looking at the differences: The Castles are both simplified significantly The House and the Barn have been combined into one larger barn All the rocks and gravel have been removed on FOTWW, making it look weird Kansas Twister does not go over the path anymore The Arkham station isn’t covered up (looks a bit ugly imo) Not as much trees blocking sightlines (not that movie world cares) Next time we need to be reminded when we see concept art that the land is likely not going to be like this. Remember when Leviathan and Jungle Rush were going to have mountains? 8F9CEFAF-F0D5-4BB3-B8F9-0EA1A5BA9C05.webp
  16. @DaptoFunlandGuy for comparison I used this checker for Sea World’s website (which is the previous style for MW) and Dreamworlds website. Sea World’w website isn’t much better And Dreamworld’s has a lot less violations, but the score is the same as MWs
  17. I don't know if I would be going off added CGI, as the final product either.
  18. I'd love to know yours. Just to recap - you said: The lack of staff was a significant reason The reason why there was a lack of staff is because noone wanted to work and be abused (and paid minimum wage) That was why they are doing recruitment - due to 'mass turnover' Consider the following points: Other than the stalwarts, the workforce skews younger The younger workforce tends to have other commitments including (tertiary) education The younger generation also tend to prioritise their own mental health and are more likely to call out if they aren't 'in the game'. This is actually a good thing as in the past, people have been killed because someone was distracted \ tired \ pre-occupied with other things - it is better to put your hand up and say 'i'm not good enough today' If you're familiar with Ops, you'll know there are many *social* activities, official and unofficial Many of those include the consumption of alcohol It's better to call out sick if you're intoxicated for many many obvious reasons much of the workforce are not full time this provides flexibility in both directions, including for staff who wish to stay on the roster while also working elsewhere The part time and casual employment does increase your turnover, but this is the nature of that style of employment rather than specifically the working conditions The park does several mass-intakes each year, usually leading into a holiday period They've actually done this for years Just because they're advertising for operators, doesn't mean they're desperately low in staff. The time it takes to train operators means they need to be recruiting well in advance of when they actually need them. Guests can be a real pain in the ass, but they're also the reason for their employment. You have bad guests, and good guests, and it does tend to skew a little negative, but that is the nature of working in a customer facing role. People who take that very personally don't last in service related work. Those who succeed learn to deal with it and it flows like water of a duck's back. They are the ones who last, who become stalwarts and heroes in the industry, sticking around to train the next generation. But this is normal. It's been the case for years. It certainly was the case more than 20 years ago when I worked in the industry - so it's not something groundbreakingly new that suddenly explains a 70% shutdown of the park.
  19. I don't think it's fair to point to the concept art and claim anything less than that is a disappointment. If you were expecting the concept art to be delivered in its entirety after Atlantis, you had rocks in your head.
  20. From a bit of googling, a family boomerang in 2020 cost 4.5 Million AUD, and they got two of them. I recall Mark Shaw years ago saying on here that when you bring a coaster to Australia you essentially double it's cost due to our labour/material prices etc. I cant find any information about the SFC cost but i think it'd be fair to assume the 3 of them would cost somewhere around 25-30 Million AUD, although i reckon I'm going unders there. The Figure they spat out probably included the cost of AA demolition as well because you know big number good. When you consider Taipan cost 32 Million, it's a pretty good deal to cop 3 Coasters and a whole new themed area for only 50.
  21. And your reasoning/source behind this is..? I know how easy and common it is for staff to call out of shifts within the company, and what rides are closed first due to staff skillset and moving people around (Kids WB rides close first). It’s also a common reason for ride delays. I’m not saying this is the only reason for ride closures but I was just pointing out that it is definitely one of the reasons. You’ll still have staff telling guests it’s technical issues regardless of staff shortages or not.
  22. This new maintenance page is horrible. In a 'recent' TikTok that Movie World posted about Wild West Falls (link), the amount of people that had no clue that WWF existed at MW was alarming, same with DC Rivals HyperCoaster but mostly referred to as Joker, once again an interstate tourist glancing at the page will have no clue on what the ride is . By removing what the ride images, interstate tourists will have no clue what the rides are. The lack of functionality that the page has is ridiculous; gone are the days of being able to easily view it, even if the design was 'outdated'. This brings up a crucial aspect of user experience: function over form. If something looks beautiful but doesn’t actually work properly, is it successful? I understand the style they're going for, but when the orange and green status colors are so similar that on my first glance I had to really analyse what the page was trying to convey, it's just not really that good. ✨ Picture this ✨, a maintenance page should serve its purpose efficiently, providing clear information without causing confusion or frustration. This new version falls short of this basic requirement. It seems like MW has failed to prioritise functionality in their design of this page. Not to mention this trend of form over function also occurs on the Park Hours page, as you have to scroll down to find the park hours, why is this not displayed at the top of the page and why are they promoting the app so much. Also its worth noting that all the animations on the site play in a non stop loop which as a general rule of thumb just isnt a great idea for accessibility reasons (homepage), when you hover over links on the buy tickets page they dissapear (tickets). Lastly, why does the open menu button in the navigation bar on the right side open it in the left side... once again poor design. I wonder how long it will take before we see this same design applied to Sea World & Wet n Wild!
