  2. It has been one of the ideas that has been discussed. Hey, Theme Park Girl pretty much answered that for you. Fluffy retired :-( Hi ClassyDeadra, 1. The technology was really dated and became almost a full time job to keep it going. So when talking about what we would have to do to keep it going we decided that we would be better off letting this type of attraction be someone else's speciality. I know it was loved, and it was a long debate to have to make that decision. 2. That is some great feedback, but also part of the reason we have a centralised system now. While great that the style was so personalised, it should be consistent with the park not the operators. That doesn't mean we don't want to take on suggestions for style for consideration when we do update playlists. 3. I am happy to throw this on the table. We have discussed it before and to be honest we have avoided it in the fear that it locks out first time visitors who should also get the chance to book a session. We trialled it once too and found that some people booked but didn't turn up, and wanted to change dates or refund etc. In the meantime we had been turning guests in-park away, so for the moment we have stuck to allowing Night Rider bookings online and trying to keep most FlowRider sessions for those in park on the day. Thanks for joining the Q&A session. Sorry about the responses. Hey Razza, So hard to get this right and make everyone happy. We get asked about kids rides for under 100cm the most at the moment, then about bringing back some of the past attractions, more for non thrill seekers to do, and from this group we get asked for a big coaster more often than not. It is a balancing act we have to match against current plan, available capital, precinct development and demand. I'll keep your request in mind :-) Regular visitors will tell you that you can already see the change and we most definitely have long term plans that will bring a lot of change and additions to the park. He was giving you his honest opinion and showing the determination. Look at me go... :-)

  3. Hey Belinda - i'm curious - you say the technology for laser tag was really dated - I hear ya - I was playing midnight til dawn laserzone battles back in 1999... But didn't you only install AVPX in April 09? And doesn't your parent company still operate laser skirmish in bowling centres all over? So does that mean Ardent's technology in its current centres are dated? Or that the same technology wasn't available to Dreamworld... for some odd reason?

  4. No worries @UpperCoomera And don't worry, I have similar fascinations that others would find weird lol. I drive my family nuts because I love to take photos of "everything" I'm currently trying to get a photo of every coaster on the Goldie in an empty state (ie. no passengers) as a personal challenge. And, unlike the majority of the population, I actually WANT a ride to break down whilst I am on it. Especially Scooby Doo! Never happens, though We all have our own quirks, I guess

  5. Thank you @Theme Park Girl!!! It's always fascinated me since I was a kid. Might sound weird but I'd rather walk through River Rapids empty than ride it fully operational (hears the gasps of terror and utter disbelief). Don't get me wrong, I love the rides, it's my ultimate escapism, but I must have been a cat in a previous life... curiosity and all that, lol. Thanks again! :-D

  6. Hey @UpperCoomera, I probably do at home (I'm at work atm) as I have folders and folders of theme park photos lol. I know I've got one of the River Rapids half empty from when it was playing up last week. I'll post them for you when I get home

  10. Exactly, there are a small portion of people who can't help it and are genuinely disabled. Which is why they have the relevant medical certificates for those conditions and can use special entry and so forth. Of course I'm not going to be having a go at someone who has no control over their unfortunate condition. But as Alex B said, that is the minority. And it's exactly those that "can't walk" when it suits them that disgust me. And then you look at what they are turning their children into too, that's really sad. Then you have the other group that have a minor condition and then use that as an excuse to give up and take the easy route. I'm sure a couple of you above would love to be able to run around and get the weight off if you could when others are like "oh well I won't try now cause I can take this easy option and society will pay for it." America doesn't understand the word No, fortunately Australia isn't like that.

  11. Look I don't wanna speak for Rappa - but my read on his statement (and in his defence) I do believe there are overweight \ obese people out there who do legitimately have no ability to control or lose weight because of medical issues, thyroid problems etc. I didn't take what Rappa said to mean he was directing it towards those with medical problems. I took it to be those who don't have medical problems, those being deserving of such labels, rather than the other way around. I have witnessed people at the US parks who get around in scooters, who park their scooter, and then run down a queueline towards the ride. They're fat, and they're lazy. They get out and walk, and let the kids drive around in it just for fun. I've seen the same group go through a park using the disabled entrances - and on 4 different rides, there were 4 different people on the scooter... so they're using it as a queuejump tool rather than legitimately needing it. It IS a big problem over there where lazy assholes who just don't want to walk, whilst eating themselves stupid are king. This is the type of person I assumed Rappa was talking about when he made those comments, and at no time did I take it to mean anybody and everybody who was overweight \ obese.

  12. Quite a few actually... I had to have surgery a few years back where I ended up off work for several months, 4 surgeries in total, in and out of intensive care, blah, blah, blah... One byproduct was a few medications (some on that list) and due to removal of some tissue and an organ or two my body is no longer able to handle any fats, sugars or dairy as it would have previously. I have changed my diet to allow for this but I still have put on almost 30kgs in the last 3 years... I have seen dieticians, personal trainers, etc and there is little short of gastric bypass that I can do... It breaks my heart as my little Mr 4yo is 15mm from riding Scooby Doo and I can't go on it with him... He has to go on all the rides he likes with my wife while I stand there feeling terrible especially since when he was first born I was going on these rides...

  13. I'm pretty sure they closed it because it was expensive to run, it only runs as a maze attraction while they decide what the best replacement for the attraction is..
