The vortex we got is what they'd planned for? Really? Because both artist render and model were very similar, and very little like the end result. We went from this: Which was very similar to the 3D model shown at launch: To this: The fact that you've seen final theme gives you that confidence but I can't fault anyone who isn't privy to those concepts to be doubtful of anything else presented in the render or the model. This was the Leviathan artwork: I'm certain we all took this with a grain of salt - especially given the substantial rockwork - and given the model differed from the artwork: But as we've all seen - Vortex did not come out as originally announced - and looking at Trident in the shot above, it isn't going to come out the same either given those giant columns surrounding the ride-base. So while i'm happy to accept your word as truth given what you've been given access to - i'll continue to remain skeptical of the end result until I see it with my own eyes... and I do look forward to being wrong...2 points

Like Disney, the Koala market caters for the budget conscious to the corporate or government entity!1 point

For as little as $10k, you can buy your very own 30 year old animatronic koala.1 point

Yeah its a real hairsplitting challenge you've got there. The age groups you've got are whats going to make the decision hardest. Usually the younger kids are said to be far better catered for at Dreamworld with both ABC Kids and Dreamworks, whereas the teenagers are probably going to enjoy Movie World's big rides. The correct answer for me, would probably be 'do both' as you'll find each group will excel in different areas. As you've seen - even amongst folks here, there are split opinions on which one to do. If you can only manage one, i'd involve the teenagers in the decision. The younger kids might not have as much fun, but tend to be less fussy - whereas the moody teenagers are far more difficult - its better to aim to keep them pleased! Whether you do or don't get to Dreamworld - remember they have Moonlight Markets on on Friday and Saturday nights. No rides, but the park hosts a food market, outdoor cinema, and their main street store, candy shop and lego store are open for the duration - and even if you don't 'go' to dreamworld, the markets are worth a drop in for dinner with plenty of choices. (entry is $2 for adults, but passholders, or those already in the park can attend the markets free of charge).1 point

I had a chance to ride the RMC Raptor 'Jersey Devil' at Six Flags Great Adventure last month and it was nice to be able to compare Big Dipper to this model. I think that Big Dipper is a lot of fun, and it's what Luna Park needed to get back on the map, but TL;DR the RMC Raptor is a much better overall package. Jersey Devil's chain lift hill and layout makes it feel more like a full coaster experience compared to Big Dipper which has a tendency to feel more like a coaster tease. I love the launch on Big Dipper, but by the time you realise what's going on the ride is already over. This is a problem I have with a lot of accelerated coasters where they have a tendency to feel more like a glorified flat ride than an actual roller coaster (I'm looking at you, Kingda Ka). The most underrated element is the Raptor's constantly moving load which allows it to absolutely eat guests, and increases the throughput dramatically compared to Big Dipper's traditional load platform. I'd imagine this would be a major selling point for smaller operators who want to make the most of their coaster. On the Raptor's you straddle the rail compared to Big Dipper where you sit on top. This straddling forces your legs apart just far enough to be uncomfortable. I spent a good amount of the lift hill squirming to make it feel 'right' and I found it harder to brace for the more aggressive elements in the layout. Though with that said, Jersey Devil is a much smoother overall experience. You tend to glide through the elements more naturally compared to Big Dipper which whips you around to an almost uncomfortable level. I haven't ridden Dipper since earlier in the year, but even close to opening it had a really bad rattle that seemed to be random based on the overall weight of the train. I by no means think Big Dipper is a bad coaster, but the Raptor's just seem to get a lot more right in my eyes.1 point

I would rather ride Big Dipper over Buzzsaw 2.0 any day of the week.1 point

At this stage I’m just glad to see they’re bridling something at the entry to Leviathan. For a while I was thinking they were just going to slap a sign onto the timber structure and you just entered under the track. I’m hoping there is some form of 3D element to what they’re building here. I’m starting to think they’re going to surprise us with what they pull off here. We had very small previews of inside the station which was very promising. They’ve released what they did with vortex was very poor and are actually trying to make this attraction great, rather than just good1 point

From personal experience (i’m same age as your kids) my friends and I tend to have more of an enjoyable and fun time at Dreamworld compared to Movie World, it feels like there’s more to do and see, the food is less expensive and staff are nicer (I lean more towards GP then Enthusiast so i go to just have fun then look into stuff when home.) The Lines at Movie World also draw us back from going there compared to Dreamworld, last time we visited on a school day (mid term) Superman & GL were broken down most of the morning so the waits were averaging around 30-60mins, whereas at Dreamworld you can mostly expect 10-25mins depending on what’s open and what’s not.1 point

If you were just headed to one park, Dreamworld'd be the best one. If you want to go to 2, however, my opinion's be to do Movie World and Sea World (over W&W, but because of it not being good weather like Whombex, and just cause of Sea World being the better option generally). Far as crowds go, no matter whether it's Dreamworld, Sea World or Movie World there will be crowds on holidays, but in my experience Dreamworld feels like it comparatively has less (likely due to its sheer size).1 point

Yeah didnt Luna Park just make the biggest investment in forever 5 minutes ago? Yes its not perfect but its not nothing.1 point

The next move that DW (Dreamworld) I’m sure will be geared towards families. We have to remember this park is geared more towards families and the classic spin and spew. Movieworld is more geared to high thrills. A Mack Powersplash would be a great addition. I have a feeling tho they won't go for that. The park is missing a nice dark ride to some IP. A form of a spinning coaster would be a good addition and even a log ride replacement. The old log ride area is clearly have land resettlement, it's an area that would be utilized for another log flume.1 point

As I mentioned recently, I rode the train a few weeks ago while it was operating with just the driver. The driver was at the rear of the train, and the PA announcements were cycling periodically. I'm not sure whether the 'mind your head' announcement was retroactively added, or whether it just wasn't heard prior to people smacking their melon into the roof. The station roof is a lot lower, because the platform has been raised. While I applaud them for making this attraction entirely Wheelchair accessible, I feel as though they've gone a step too far - raising the floor to accommodate a roll-on carriage has had the flip side of reducing the headroom for normal passengers. Has this created an unintended consequence? I know we're all laughing about being adults and able to not hit our heads on our cars and things, but we've talked for decades here about theme parks - specifically about guests checking their brain at the gate. A modern park attraction with such a high-risk hazard to the average population should never have existed. They need to look into some sort of rubber bumper or other padded edge to these carriages.1 point
